Eliteforce I just logged in and saw that I too got referred to a selecting official. Which office did you apply for?

What's the hiring timeline like for this agency and other OIGs?

Not sure, but based on my hiring experience with CBP, it'll probably take up to a year if not longer depending on the different phases of the hiring process. And COVID has kind of delayed a lot of stuff too. I haven't been able to find to much info on hiring for HUD, or any OIGs for that matter and reading into the few candidates that did make it well into the hiring process, none of them ever comeback to let you if they got hired so you can't really get a good timeline.

I've never seen much of a timeline either here.

In the OIG world, start your hire countdown from time of interview, not application submission. If you get called for an interview and the panel wants to select you, you could literally have an ASAC be calling you within the same week you interviewed to tell you that your were selected and if you will accept the job. I've never seen any OIG app take 1 year to fully ajudicate.

Eliteforce I only applied to the NY one. Trying to get back home. I know it kind of shoots my chances of getting hired down by a lot, but it's a risk I'm willing to take at this point in time.

The hiring process for OIGs tends to be 3 to 6 months. It's much faster than the typical alphabet soup agencies people apply to.

Same. I'm told by a current OIG 1811 that those entry level spots are often posted when the agency already has someone they specifically want to hire. Don't know if that's accurate across the board or just for that one agency.

OIGs and smaller investigative units tend to be pretty quick on processing. I've seen a former colleague move in a process about two months but things such as clearance and other HR steps were accepted by the receiving agency.

As for entry level at the OIG. Yeah, more than likely already someone has been selected. The 11-13s tend to be laterals. Off the street hires do exist at OIGs, but most I've interacted with have been agents elsewhere.

Nice good info, I guess I could do a less popular non-Leo position in one federal agency and with time transition to an 1811 position.

If anyone hears anything about interviews we should let each other know here. Nothing on my end yet

Alot of times when you see only one vacancy, its being posted because its required by law, even thought the agency knows who it wants to hire. I've been lucky once when the agency I wanted to get hired with let me know a week in advance they were going to open an announcement and I should apply. I've also applied to several jobs that stated they had one opening and I really thought I was well qualified and never got so much as a "thanks but no thanks" e-mail.

Its a crap shoot, apply and see what happens.

I hear ya, but I think this announcement said many vacancies in multiple locations - gives me more hope than usual. First 350 apps considered for lower grade and first 200 in the higher grade announcement. FINGERS CROSSED...could be a while

Nothing yet on my end unfortunately. If you don't mind me asking, where are you located and where did you apply to?

Also, what did the number show up as on caller ID so I don't ignore it thinking its a robocaller.

              Best of luck going forward!

If anyone that applied has questions about the process, I recommend reaching out to the number supplied at the bottom of the vacancy announcement. The contact is for the HR managers at ARC who are in charge of the process and can answer some basic questions. It looks like they are looking to fill the vacancy late summer/early fall. FLETC + IG academy are behind based on other forums here.
