Every recruit will be sold the “The restrictions may be lifted while you’re there” line. Every recruit will buy it. FLETC will try and lessen the burden by enhancing their recreations department. Karaoke nights, Billiards tournament, cornhole intramurals!

I'm trying to think this through a bit...

What is the value of restricting students from leaving if instructors, fletc 5-0, role players, etc can leave and return?

If the goal is for the center to be free of disease, then wouldn't the best approach be 100% daily testing of everyone there- staff, students, even the maids and chow hall employees?

Without daily testing, how can there be any DT and PT, tactical training, hanging out at the pool, or karaoke singalongs at the Gay Bar? And won't everyone be banished to their rooms except for M-F, 9-5 training hours?

This seems about as well thought out as disinfectant/UV light bursts to the lungs...

*To answer the question 'can they restrict people like this', the answer is yes, because it's the G and the G can do whatever it wants. I've seen it happen time after time where someone sitting in the big seat comes up with a special idea, aka their easy solution to a problem and it's rife with unintended consequences but the power structure doesn't care because their stamp is on it. So get used to five months of boiled chicken and a farting roomie in the Taj, because for the next 25 years, you'll be nodding your head and breathing through your nose whenever another Big Idea gets revealed....

Lol fair enough except there's no roommates at this time. I don't think that's going to change until the restrictions are lifted.

Damn reading this and seeing all these complaints, simple have some commitment into following the rules, you took this long to go through the process and whining about not having a beer or other commodities? either make the commitment or give that slot to someone else who has the backbone.

Good for you...do you a cookie or something? How about you focus on actually getting hired first and earn a spot on your own. I've already been there so I don't have anything to give.

No, I don't want a cookie or anything, I may sound like a dick but I'm sick and tired of this generation of cops always complaining about the dumb small things like wanting to live like royalty on base, FLETC is what you make of it, I was there as well but not for CBP I'm not talking out of my *** and never been there as you are inferring. There will be a meeting on Monday the 18th with the various agency leads. I'll pass on what I hear, hopefully there will be some concrete info on how things are going to get rolling.

Where are y’all hearing that everyone will be restricted to base the entire time? From what I saw in the livestream the guy said you’d be quarantined for the first 2 weeks before your official start date

We got a letter stating you will be quarantined for 2 weeks before starting, they will also have 1 person to a room and no one next door, you will have your own bathroom at the crack houses. Because CBP is the largest agency there, CBP alone will be accommodated atm. It also said, you can leave but you would not be able to return, you will be rescheduled.. However, while we were there, before the Covid thing, the Director for CBP said it will take you a year to get back into a session if you were sent back to Port and have to be recycled.

Lastly, most ports aren't letting you hang out that the port anymore, you WILL be fired, there are just too many CBPO's waiting to get into sessions.

We are waiting anxiously to get back to FLETC

Thanks for the update Kevin, you always have good info. Even though it's not the best news, it is better that we know what is going on I think.

When you say only CPB will be accommodated atm...does that mean fletc will be open only to that agency for awhile?

Shhhh you're going to crush his self esteem. Do yourself a favor guy.....you're going to get enough eye rolls from the other trainees at Fletc who aren't CBP, don't set yourself up for trolling on a public forum too.

What's the use of two week quarantine and academy confinement if the instructors, role players, maids, and all the nice people working in the chow hall leave everyday?? We're talking several hundred people, no restraints on their activities, bringing whatever bugs they picked up on the outside.

I'm sure some GS15 is getting a Star award for coming up with a plan that sounds good but makes no one safer...

What should be taking place is daily testing. Get a few of these machines and check everyone once a day. Isolate any one with the virus and their entire class. Fletc budget is $300 mil... I'm sure they can afford some testing machines.

If given the choice between a daily nasal swab and not being able to leave for five months, I'd take the swab in a New York minute.

Not to mention all of the TDY instructors who will he traveling from various states but not subject to quarantine, tests, or restrictions. Apparently FLETC thinks only students can have the virus.

            • #26
Since many people are A symptomatic daily testing would be irrelevant. People are going to be carrying the virus, spreading it and not know that they are. Nothing will make sense at the moment, because everything atm is trial and error. So we all just have to role with the punches. TRT, and other close contact sessions, we're hearing stuff about what its suppose to be like, but all of it is subject to change based on what happens when we all return.

Aw come one, he's just telling you what his agency said! Maybe that's just really what's happening in the first go-around of re-opening? I don't know, he said that's what he was told. Anyway, for sure not everyone out there understands the complexities of coronavirus asymptomatic, antibodies, incubation period, etc. --- he's CBP not CDC, wups, his bad, but not like he's a biologist or anything, oh well, forgive his misunderstanding! Ah biology, it's a challenge, I wish I had more bio credits, they opened agriculture specialist for CBP again, I think it might still be open… Maybe I can get it at entry level this time for that job. I have a few bio classes, but not a ton, those are well earned credits, they don't shell out the A's in that field! Hmm maybe the training for agriculture specialist will be less impacted by coronavirus --- at least some of it is done outside of FLETC. Could be a good place filler job till everything else gets going...hopefully.

DHS announced this week that they are going to begin phased reopening, based upon local conditions, and at the discretion of the local leadership.

MDPO32 I did say, "atm" which can be any length of time. Maybe it does mean that the first agency that would return to FLETC would bring CBP back first. But what I can tell you is that CBP is the largest training agency at FLETC. Which you probably already know.
And would have some weight at FLETC. Over 1200 trainees at any given moment.

So which agency generates the most income for FLETC, may actually get priority on return dates. No one will be housed off site, so accommodations will be limited, since they would be spacing everyone out at the crack houses

Also, as Page said, I'm no biologist, but what I do know is that there are 100's of contaminated persons who return for testing and still are getting a positive result, going on almost 6 weeks after they were cleared medically. That's just one of the reasons why testing isn't going to solve the issue.

Don't shoot the messenger... But if I am right I'll be glad to update "CBP" applicants. You dont have to takenmy word. Clearly you're not CBP, and your information may conflict, with mine.

ATF will have a limited number of trainees back on base by June 1. FLETC is slowly phasing classes back onto the base. 2 weeks of quarantine with lots of restrictions afterwards. ATF trainees also not allowed to leave until graduation. Those who balked were invited to not show up and see what happens.

What does two weeks of quarantine entail? Sitting in your room 24/7 and meals are left at the door??

Because if one is going to chow hall, the gym, the student center, etc.... well, that's not quarantine. That's regular fletc life.

No testing... then what is the plan for when the virus rears up for another wave (which it will). Just let it run it's course, and if anyone misses more than two days due to illness, they go to the recycle bin?

I feel sorry for anyone headed there for extended training. That place is joy free under normal conditions....

He's making valid points about the way they are trying to operate, especially the one about instructors along with other staff not being held to the same restrictions as students from the way it sounds.

Nothing but FLETC food (yum raw chicken) and no alcohol (FLETC is going to restrict students from having it on center) for however long.

Sports21 I know that FLETC was about to issue a directive just prior to the coronavirus cluster that students would be banned from having their own alcohol on center and the g bar would be restricted to I believe beer and wine only. I'd imagine they are going to implement it since they were about to before the shutdown.
