Thanks for sharing. Did you have a prior fed clearance or background?

What info session location did you attend?

  • I have a feeling the DUSM EXAM email doesn’t enjoy getting status update emails just by the responses received. I don’t think I will send another in the future lol.

Lol I got the same feel bro. They give generic, almost condescending responses.

  • What’d they say?
With great power comes great response times.

    • TXSP basically “nothing has changed since you contacted us in July so stop asking, you’ll hear something if we need something.” That’s what i took from it atleast lol.

I imagine they get 100+ emails each week like that. I do plan on emailing them next week, but with a very specific medical question. I’m hoping in their reply they go ahead and let me know if anything has been adjudicated.

I just asked them if I was still in the process. They replied:
        Good Morning,

Thank you for your inquiry regarding Excepted Service Hiring. You are still active in the process. Please allow us time to notify you regarding the next step. We thank you for your patience.

That's different than the typical response, i.e. there are no updates and we'll update you when we need more info. Probably a good sign.

    • Got my email for the interview. About how long does the interview take? It seems as though it takes an hour, as the times are spaced out every hour. My interview is at 1330 and i'm trying to decide when to book my return flight. Would it be safe to book it for 1727? Or should I book the 1857 flight?

My interview went about 30 minutes, and I thought I was more wordy than necessary.

My interview was 30-45 minutes, can’t remember exactly. I had to wait a while before i was called in though. Was in the building around 1.5 hours.

I think i'll just take the late flight just in case. Missing a flight isn't fun.

    • I was in the Federal Building for about 45 min total.

      • Is anyone familiar with the actual PT protocol (form) with pushups amd situps. The DEA is very strict with their protocol. I am just wondering if it's the same style pushups (wide) and the situps with arms crossed over the chest.

in the 2019 thread it was stated the sit-ups were done with fingers interlaced behind the head with your elbows touching your knees and shoulder blades touching the ground with each rep.

As ranger said, it’s fingers interlocked behind head (all the way to the last knuckle) and elbows to knees.

There are fundamental differences with respect to hand placements with pushups. For example, the DEA requires hands to be just outside of shoulder width, arms almost completely at a 90 degree angle. The protocol says 45 degrees, but when you get there, it is more like 85 degrees. When I went to trooper school, they wanted our elbows tucked to our sides (tricep Pushups). The different styles definitely change your reps depending on what you're used to. I can get about 70 tricep Pushups, but struggle to get 50 with the ones the DEA require. It works all upper chest and traps.

A full class is 48 students.

Nope. Was just asked for transcripts a month or two back and that's it.

      • Judging by the lack of conversation in here, I’m guessing there’s not been a lot of movement for any of us? I’m wondering how much longer I’ll have to wait for an e-mail about the interview. It’s nearing three months now since I got referred. Trying to stay patient.

Best way to go about it is to just forget about it. Check your emails regularly and continue on with life as normal. They operate at a snails pace. Throw in an app or two elsewhere and don't rely on this one. Let it be a happy surprise when you get a response.

      • Received email today to schedule my interview for next month for the Chicago and St. Louis area. Meet and greet was in the Ohio Cleveland area. Also received email from OIG and HSI. Maybe a coincidence they all came on the same day.

it being a new Tier 5 it is very likely they will reciprocate that in lieu of them doing another one.

        • Does anyone know how a possible deployment with the National Guard would effect the hiring process?
I just received my TOL last week a few days after being told I was on the tentative roster.

Try to get ahold of someone and notify them, I asked a question relative to this during my interview. I asked about being at an academy for another agency and if I was not able to say, do a medical exam or PT test due to that, how would that affect me, would I have to drop out and start all over. I was told the only time they have seen anyone get a pass and being able to reschedule any part of the process for a future date was due to military obligations. I would definitely reach out as soon as possible.

I wouldn’t assume that they’ll pause the process for you. I left the Guard specifically because I had issues scheduling job interviews while serving.
