Each phase a significant amount of ppl are lost and at some point ppl take other jobs. The Interview, assessment and PT are the main parts tht ppl out of the process. There is a 5% chance tht an applicant gets hired and makes it through the academy. Many try and many ppl fail. Making it pass each phase is a blessing. We are fighting with others throughout the US to land this job.

Research McGirt v Oklahoma ruling and how that has impacted the Federal Government in a general sense. With the current recruitment push, a lot of folks currently in the hiring process may find themselves in the Midwest. Good luck to you all currently in the process and stay safe.

Good morning, has anyone used or is planning to use the post 9-11 GI bill for the academy and OJT. Can you tell me how it works. Also does the USMS consider the time that it takes you to become an 1811 as OJT.

Might be a stupid question - but does anyone have any idea of the next possible vacancy announcement date? Missed the last one and I’m regretting it more and more each day

Anyone know before your a GS11 1811 and just a 0083 if there is over time? a GS 5 is a pretty steep pay cut for me but i don't mind it if I can work overtime to make up for it.

Depends on the instructor, but you will receive OT in the academy. We received lots of OT but we had a great instructor. I’ve heard of others not receiving much at all. Just depends. As for the district, good luck with that. Not much OT is handed out like that. Just try to manage until you get your 1811. Most of you are taking paycuts, but it’s what you’ve signed up to do, hopefully in the future the USMS will be granted entry 9 grade levels but who knows if that will ever happen.Last edited by Njw85; 06-03-2021, 08:03 PM.

6 day work weeks are the exception, not the rule. They were doing it while FLETC was under heavier COVID restrictions to try to speed up the classes and get people in and out faster. The other time it's happened recently is a class a couple years ago got sent home for like 10 days or something due to an approaching hurricane, so they had training days they had to make up, so they went to 6-day weeks until they were back on schedule. The norm is 5-day training week, though.

You have to be cleared to be able to have a TS Clearance but don’t have the TS clearance until your read in, sign NDA’s etc.
As to your question - you have to have a complete and adjudicated background prior to the academy. I do not believe the Marshals have done or do interims.
-
There are no interims to my knowledge either. Some agencies like DEA (DI) used to accept interims but have since gotten away from that practice due to being burned. Closest you will get is probably your adjudicated clearance being relied on by USMS. There's no "accelerated" or interim process like the DEA does or has done in the past.

Definitely more than 45 days. Emailed them and they sent me the generic “active applicant email”

For the first wave out of Dallas, TX, it was only a few days between the TOL and initial medical/background instructions. I did my medical a few weeks later. I have not been asked to send in an SF86 or talk to a background investigator yet.

I just got an email saying that I should expect another email in the next few days to apply on USAJOBS. They also mentioned that I will need to upload documents. My question is, what documents will I need to have ready to upload?

I went to the info session mid March in KCMO.
For my college transcripts, could I call my school tomorrow and have them send me an “unofficial copy” via email, and then upload that? I know it usually takes weeks to get official copies, and I only have a few days notice.Last edited by IVAHN; 06-09-2021, 07:22 PM.

I’m unsure if they need to be official or not. I suspect your background investigator will want an official one. Sometimes the fed government is practical and will accept documents that are close enough, other times HR will just use that as a reason to cut applications. I’d like to think USMS would give you a chance to get official ones if the unofficial version isn’t enough.

You never get your score as far as I know, but if you have a high enough score, you’ll be referred. My referral notice came about two weeks after the assessment. I had an interview offer about five or six weeks later.
-
Process may/may not be picking up a bit for those of us in the interview/pre-interview stage. I took the assessment April 30th, got the interview email May 28th and got the referral the same day (May 28th) after scheduling my interview.
