Took proctored exam. I ran out of time on the writing section. Was just finishing up the last sentence. Don't think I will be moving forward, messed up 4 questions on the accounting section. Logical reasoning also very difficult.

For what it’s worth, I ran out of time on my writing sample as well and I received a FO for this position. There’s still hope if what you did write was good.

As far as I know. Not sure how/if it’s weighted for when they assign category ratings.

Ok USA jobs, it says my application is still being reviewed and active, however when I go into the Actual agency hiring website, it says I was found ineligible. Has anyone had any luck on finding out why they were listed as ineligible?

No one knows. They're very picky. The best advice I've seen is to start taking accounting classes if you really want to get this position.

Did you try to qualify based on education or experience? Did you have the minimum number of accounting credits?

Re-applied, got told no for the 9 then three months later no for the 7. Only thing I can think of that's holding me back is the accounting classes, even though they said they'll train you, go figure. I'm out, good luck to everyone else who's still pushing through.

Hey guys, I got an email yesterday saying I passed phase 2 of the assessment and I’ll be moving on to the exam once a HR specialist views my resume.

Looking to go to the Northeast corridor : Washington DC, NYC, maybe Boston.

I know some of you guys have already taken the exam any pointers or things I should study for I would truly appreciate it.

Does anyone know the hiring steps ? Or have a breakdown of it?

          My background
          Current Fed/LEO 2+ yrs
          active TS/SCI
Degree In Political Science (No accounting whatsoever) lol
          former local LEO

If HR hasn’t looked at your resume yet I wouldn’t get my hopes up. I thought I’d at least qualify as GL-7 easily, but nope (attorney working in financial compliance). 3+ months of wasted time. Kind of a joke at this point imo.

Got the email that I passed the KaSE and am moving on phase 4 with a Category A rating and deemed superior qualified. Next up interview.

I was rated ineligible on the vacancy questions, but I was told to re-apply. Has anyone re-submitted their application and received a second rating? Did you have to take any additional steps, like withdrawing your application first before re-applying?

USA shows Accepted. Treasury dashboard still shows ineligible.

Edit the application and resubmit. USAJobs will show that it was received for review.

Are there any ways to practice for the proctored exam? I have been trying to find other Special Agent exams and man these math problems are killing me. I get them but thats after like 5-10 mins of breaking down the problem LOL. Its been over a decade since i have done these type of math. Any tips would be appreciated, within reasons.

If you work at a big 4 firm like your username suggests you should do fine. IIRC, it was just basic accounting and then the verbal questions. Nothing too crazy on the math. I don’t know if they’ve changed the test since I took it though.

Thanks for the response. Haha yea I was at the B4 but I’m currently a RA. I’m more concern with the math part as I have not taken use those for about a decade now. Anyways, I appreciate the response.
            take care!

I have seen on public news & blog sites that the IRS is stepping up their efforts in cyber and crypto cases. Does that translate to hiring people with those backgrounds? I have seen these options on the vacancy questions, but is it a priority for hiring?

I have a background in cyber and financial crimes, with some auditing experience, but I do not have an accounting education.

They are hiring people with cybersecurity experience who do not have accounting backgrounds. It's currently a priority.

Can anyone who's passed the exam share any details? I understand an NDA is in place but any tips/pointers on the writing style/format used would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to send a pm. Anyone else think it's a little weird this seems to be the only 1811 exam with zero info, docs, samples questions pdf to aid candidates? Thanks in advance and good y'all!
