What is the name of the program that you applied under. Myself and a couple of my co-workers are still serving on active duty and we have never heard anything about this?

My application process was a little different than most.

In short....I was recruited, after my last tour overseas. I am no longer on Active Duty. I did not apply through an announcement. Like I mentioned before, this process, like most Fed Gov jobs are done on a case by case basis. There is not necessarily a blanket process for every candidate, as I have learned.

Any news from a background investigator yet? I am sure its tough not hearing....Hawaii is a long way away which explains the wait and not such a bad place to be while waiting to start with customs.

Nope, still havn't heard anything. And, you are correct; if you have to wait some where, Hawaii is not too bad.
Funny that CBP doesn't seem to have any boats here. I guess there is plenty of CG to take care of the port.

Hello, first time poster. I came across this thread in my search for some information, and it has been helpful.
So, I applied in Nov 08, and on 12/10/08 I received an e-mail saying my

name has been referred to the selecting official for further consideration.

Since then, I haven't heard anything. When I wrote to MHC-STAFFING.TEAMB they told me that it could take up to 120 days before I know anything further.
When I did the math, 120 days is April 10, 2009.

So, do I still have a shot? From reading above it seems like only a handful of those who applied in November haven't heard back yet? I applied under Vet's status, and currently work for the DOJ.

In short, since no one is saying it. They got picked up under Veterans Recruitment Appointment (VRA). It is a non-competitive way to get picked up by an agency without going through normal channels. Normally, an agency will recruit highly quallified members of the military that have certain job skills. Not to be confused with VEOA. If you have served in the military since Enduring Freedom, then you qualify for VEOA, 5 or 10 points VETS pref, however it doesn't mean that you qualify for VRA. VRA has mor specific reqs. You can check if you qualify on OPM.GOV under veterans section.

Don't think that you have to get recruited to use VRA, but talking to my MIA Sup, that's is how most the VRA's are getting picked up.

Ok fellas....got a call from the supervisor from the office I am hoping to go to...the other guy who applied in November was notified today that his eod is June 8th. He was an outside hire. His academy is in July. Get ready...calls should be coming soon. Jon in Hawaii....hang in there buddy.

If you haven't heard anything. Call the hiring center and see if your name was forwarded to any of the offices you applied to.
