  • I took my medical the same day. When was your background initiated. It seems like they are starting the BI's from the top scorers and working down the list. I bet you scored a 105.

Early last year. BI cleared a month or so ago. I think I said it a few posts back but they are OVERWELMED and backlogged with BI's right now.

      • Hey All,
My BI was finished this week, medical, and drug testing a month ago, what a relief. Now for the waiting. I offered last week to take anyone hired in january and having to do the practical exam out and practice running, docking, station keeping, etc on a twin engine boat and a few people have taken me up. It's been a pleasure helping with some refresher training. Just an example, I helped someone out today on a 32 Intrepid with twin Verados for 5 hours and he spent about $20 on fuel...kind of a no brainer. Let me know guys if you need some practice, I am glad to help. This job is about teamwork...thanks again to everyone who has posted some great information about the job, the benefits, as what we can expect at FLETC. Don, especially, thanks again for your input here, really cool. I have to find some old photos from Islamorada when you were running around in the white midnight with the quad merc 200s...remember Jim from FMP? He had that old Oceanic 25' with twin 454s...we almost sank that thing 3 times.

        • Anyone from the November 08 public announcement who was NOT a CBP employee had everything (background, medical, and drug testing) completed and received an EOD and an academy date?

          • Hey guys, does anyone know what type of boats are being used for the interviews down in Miami? Are they the midnight express or the safe boats? Thanks!

I'm getting close, looks like they want more info on a couple things for med. Drug test is complete, medical testing Feb. 17, BI last week. Sounds like my investigator was going to send in his packet this week after typing it up. His packet had a deadline of April 23 for the BI.

                • Thanks for posting. The internal affairs department has to review the applications once the BI is done. I talked with the lady in minute today and she says the people at headquarters will be contacting us when everything is complete. Patience...its all a test.

                  • Boat..Still waiting to be cleared for my medical..I have been rescheduled for a vision test..Having had everything completed but that, and with all the time and money invested in us, is this something I should be worried about??.I have bad vision but i am not blind and it is correctable to 20/20..Is there a waiver for maybe something like that???Thanks..

                    • I have no idea what the vision requirements are. If they said you need more tests, that is probably a good thing. If you were disqualified, they wouldn't be asking for more EXPENSIVE tests.

                      • To Boat!

Hey don't worry about the retest of your vision. That happened to me too last week. I received the letter and all, I took it to my doctor and they had me do the test again. He told me I have close to perfect vision with no problems. I sent the package last week to the medical department at MN. Let me know how that goes for you. BTW, is out of pocket expenses so make sure you get it done quick.
                        Good luck to everyone!!!

                          • Bro,

I do not know for sure. I wouldn't worry about it too much. You may have to cover them every now and then but I don't think it is a hiring/non-hiring issue.

                            • Hey guys. I've been scanning this forum for a while, and glad to see I'm not the only one stressing out.
I applied for the Nov announcement, recieved a COE Jan 09, and have everything completed except for the painstakingly long BI. I don't think I've even been assigned an investigator yet, and its killin me.
And in reponse to an old post by boat22, that seems to have been unanswered. I'm not an officer of DHS or CBP.

                              • Mia1970... Have you completed the paperwork they sent you as well as the online BI form? If you haven't done this, you are not going to have an investigator assigned to you. Have you completed the medical exam at a local office and the drug screening ?
