2019 ATF Schedule B Hiring

where/when is the next schedule b announcement rumored to be?

I spoke with the Seattle, WA division recruiter a week ago and he mentioned that they got word from HQ to prepare for a “hiring surge”. However, that was before COVID-19 went DEFCON 3. That’s said, he wasn’t specific on dates and things of that nature. If I were to speculate, I would think that meant national hiring, but definitely NW US.

Expect background delays due to Corona, but take heart. Positive things coming down the pipe for hiring new agents. Stay in shape, make good financial choices and don't drink and drive. Best fed agency if you like being pro active, hitting the streets and making partnerships with state and locals among other things. Hang in there, its worth it.

Good advice. The delays will be minimal. It's a good time to be in ATF's hiring process if you have a clean background, are physically fit and can pass the polygraph. It's the best job in Federal LE. I know plenty of former USMS, USSS, OIG, HSI and others who are now ATF Agents. I only know of 3 former ATF Agents who are now agents somewhere else and it was because they didn't like the pace of hitting the streets and making cases.

You only get a “thanks, but no thanks” email if you don’t pass. The “unofficial” pass is when your background is started. This usually occurs when a background investigator calls you or one of your references.

There’s not an official “pass” email.
