How far into the process did most people start the background investigation process? How long did it take?

I'm wondering if having a recently adjudicated OPM background investigation will speed things up. My current fed agency is also doing a new background investigation me.

How long is the background taking for most people? Do you know if HR or the BI will contact your current employer, if you've already got an investigation going? I'm trying not to upset my current fed employer but I would like to work for the USMS someday.

Anyone have issues with the medical for being colorblind? If so, did FOH let you take a Farnsworth D-15 instead of the plate test?

Got a Farnsworth done through the VA, gave them a copy, and had no issues.

To be fair, it’s looking like October might be the closest timeframe for the next available class but anything is possible. Sorry I don’t know any info regarding the agency trying to make up missed classes.

Winter the agency most of the time knows when your leaving before you do. Most time they send out a date when your going to leave. The boss will know, the hr will know and sometimes if loose lips your co workers would know your time is coming to an end.

I failed the online assessment in 2019, but i stuck with it reattended a information session and passed the online assessment and was referred last month. US Marshal in my area seems to think they may onboard to local office till accademy date. Anyone else hearing this as a possibility?

Does anybody know what FLETC life is like right now? Is it still locked down where when you get on base you cannot leave for 6 months?

TXSP New policy came down that if you are fully vaccinated that you are now allowed to leave the base. They have separate badging for those who are vaccinated now vs the non-vaccinated. Those who don’t vaccinate have to abide by the current procedures in place. FLETC is directing students to get themselves vaccinated prior to getting there if possible because they basically can’t be depended on yet to get it done for students.

BuffBills123, you are correct, I believe those 2 classes will be going back to 48 hires. I also just heard from a good source that a May class has been proposed but they are looking to fill it with vaccinated hires. Not too sure who or how they will go about choosing candidates for that one if it happens. Does anyone here know of any leads on info sessions coming up? I need to attend one as my announcement will make 3 years this summer. I don't want to get tossed out now that I am at the end of the process and have waited so long for this.

I’ve heard talks of a vaccinated May class too. However I believe they are filling it with current onboarded hires. I’m hopeful it will open up the August 2021 class to new hires but it’s possible that even with an added class there’s no room until FY22. The volume of onboarded hires in offices right now is said to be pretty significant. I will be at 2 years in the announcement soon. Sorry to hear you’ve waited that long. I’ve heard they are extending the deadlines for an applicants hiring process because of COVID. Good luck
