    Fed locality pay isn't all that it's cracked up to be. Yes the fed locality pay for SF is 40% but the locality pay for the US that isn't in a specified locality pay is 15%. So a guy in Fargo, ND is getting 15% locality pay while the guy in SF is getting 40%, I think most would agree that the cost of living gap between Fargo and SF is a lot bigger than 25%.

    Fed pay is great if you're in a low-income/poorer area. But if you're in an area with a high cost of living, the enhanced locality pay really doesn't help that much.

    I mean, you're cutting your pay, but there are other advantages (schedule, take-home, plain clothes, etc.). Gotta do that cost-benefit analysis.
