  • Thanks for the replies. Any talk of converting to LEAP? I know FAMS did it years ago…

@ Yes LEAP along with possibly going GS-13. Problem is, most current DO's wouldn't want that, as they get more money with AUO+FLSA and not obligated to answer work duty phone calls after their 8 hours. Hence, AUO. I think the 1811 status + LEAP has better benefits in the long run, but our current work force does not want it.

LEAP with a GS 13 for DOs is a no brainer and would be accepted hands down but remaining a GS 12 and changing over to LEAP would be a pay cut for many of us. I’m at 25 percent so in my particular situation (25 percent AUO and nearing retirement) I would prefer to remain with AUO but if I had a decade or two left to work I would probably feel differently.

Yep, I agree with that assessment. 1811 status is beneficial and opens up a lot of doors during employment and after retirement. Unfortunately, you cannot lateral transition into other leo jobs being a DO. The covered time helps, but the CITP requirement isn't.

In my agency we journeyman to an 11 with AUO… however, the AUO varies depending upon location and basically is up
to the bosses. So, you could be at 25% at one location and transfer to another and told you can only claim 10%… it’s new to my agency and tons of issues. We’d like to go to LEAP as we work side by side 1811s and do many of the same duties they do. We also have a lateral program to 1811 where you don’t go to fletc, just to our academy.. no CITP.

Most officers can work AOU whenever they have work to do. Most try to hit that 25% mark. Anything over 25% a year you can be discertified. Which means you cant go on escorts, work task force, or basically anything that could require extra hours. LEAP pay seems to be better because it’s guaranteed regardless whereas you have to work an claim AOU per pay period. .
Hate to be Captain obvious here.. but this comment is a mess.

How does one get DECERTIFIED by working more than 25 percent AUO considering the max is 25 percent?

I’ve been earning AUO (it’s AUO not AOU) since the 90s and it is clear that you have no clue how this premium pay works. There is no way to earn more than 25 percent AUO and get decertified (not discertified). The ways one gets decertified is by not working enough AUO or working too much OT/45Act (not AUO) where you reach/exceed the annual OT cap of 45K (that includes AUO earnings) without a waiver.

It’s obvious that you do not earn this premium pay and should refrain from posting incorrect/erroneous information.

  • Exbpa340 thanks for clearing that up.

    • Just curious, does anyone know if these positions are going to stay LEO moving forward? I thought I had heard something about renaming them as “civil enforcement” or something similar but haven’t heard of that in a while

    • Hey ya:

Has anyone received any sort of update? Feels like I’ve been on hold for awhile now. Last thing I did for them was on 12/14/21 my PT exam at a local field office

Cleared: Medical, Fitness, & Drug Test
I am also a current DHS employee.

Each time I email PSU they write back the same thing: Pending Background. I applied to the late June 2021 announcement

Feels like forever ago. Anyhow, if anyone has received an updates please keep the rest of us posted. Thanks.

Hey I haven’t heard any movement at all either it’s sort of just been a stand still it seems kinda just forgot about it and check occasionally here for any updates.

    • Any movement recently?

EOD might be going out soon for the end of the month or early August. A coworker of mine with Customs got a cleared to EOD email 2 weeks but no actual EOD. I wonder if they rounding up cleared candidates for a fletc DOTP class. No email for me yet but hopefully this week.

          • Received an email last week to go to TX to take a Poly. Scheduled for this upcoming week. Anyone went thru this process for ICE? I took one for CBP & Passed but ICE wouldn’t take it.

Does anyone know what happens if/when I pass? Should there be a call soon after in a few weeks? I am also already a DHS employee so hopefully that helps.

            Thanks

Slim to none. When I applied a few years ago, they offered me Alexandria, LA. I declined and heard nothing further.
