  • Took my medical on 11/16 called the lady today and she informed me that my medical has no issues and sent to ICE and they will reach out to me next. I’m assuming it’s for the PT exam. Hopefully it’s sooner rather than later.

Does anyone know what city the poly is performed in. I know a lot of people have stated TX but where in TX?

I had one. It's usually easy to get. You'd be a fool to pass up this opportunity my93rx7tt

  • So far medical, blood test and drug test is done. Still waiting on physical fitness test. Anyone in the same boat?

Yeah medical was done a month ago, I had to send follow-up paperwork from the VA so I can be cleared. I'm currently in backgrounds, which started a month ago today.

  • Same. Medical, TB and drug test completed. Received an updated from medical that my paperwork was sent to the physician for review but everything looks good. HR update: they haven't heard anything back on my background. It's a waiting game but I'm using this time to get my run time down.

How long after you completed medical did you receive the email?

  • Two weeks. I just received a email yesterday that I have to re do my vision but I am 20/20.
I have an appointment with my personal eye doctors this week to get this resolved.

    • Took my poly last week for ICE. I was told all new ICE employees for HSI/ERO will have to take the poly. My examiner said there’s no more reciprocity. Passed 2 dhs poly’s prior to the one last week.

Thanks for the update! Where did you take your poly?
I took my PT test today at a local field office and passed. I’m assuming the poly is next. How long after you took your PT test were you scheduled for the poly?

    • Just received a follow up medical letter for a Vision Test after 6 months. They want me to get tested at my own expense with an Eye Doctor so i can clear the medical.

I Wonder why so many candidates are asked to follow up with a Vision Test.
From the little reading i’ve done, seem like it’s very common.

has anyone recently been asked to follow up with an optometrist or ophthalmologist? If so, how soon after the follow up were you cleared for medical?

i can only imagine this is going to be another 6 months..it took them 6 months to contact me after my initial medical/physical exam…smh.

I had to do the same for my eye test, my follow up was back in November still haven't heard anything yet. They did mention it could take a while because they are playing catch up with medical.

    • Those that needed Follow up vision exam, did you guys used a regular
Optic store like Costco, Lenscrafters, Target, Walmart etc..or did you guys went straight to an eye specialist?

i have 30 days to submit my follow up vision exam. Looking to pay out of pockets. Any suggestion and or input gladly appreciated. Thanks

Maybe go to a ophthalmologist. Are they asking you to check for color vision and debt as well?

No color vision or depth perception, just a regular eye exam using the Snellen chart.  I guess they want to check my corrected and uncorrected vision.

I contacted my local Optometrist and asked if they could conduct the requested eye exam and fill out an employment form for me which they did and submitted.

Sort of related, USSS requires out of pocket vision. I did mine through the eye center in Walmart. Costco should be the same as long as they have an actual optometrist in store.

      • Folks on Delphi are saying everyone is polygraphed now, so I guess if you aren't willing to go to Texas for a poly then you are out of luck? How does that make any sense?

It is probably unlikely that the majority of FPS positions are granted TS security clearances. It’s even less likely that your BI would know what clearance your positions needs because most are contractors. Many LE positions (like mine) have T5/T5R BIs that can grant clearances up to the TS level. Many/most are not granted TS. My position is granted a secret and many others like CBPO and BPAs complete the same T5/T5R background but are not awarded a clearance level.

Which makes it hilarious that they now require everyone outside of ICE to take a polygraph so CBPO and BPA need to fly to Texas to take the Poly. I have heard it was in the new contract the ERO union bargained with management this year.

For anyone curious this is a new requirement that just came out within the last few announcements. I know of one CBPO that has failed the poly already for ERO. Basically anyone who got hired before the change got lucky.

If they had places other than just Texas to take the poly I would not mind the requirement. But having to go to Texas for it is just a little much. Now I know how the Nuclear Courier dudes feel about their hiring process.

I agree I have to waste a few days of leave just to go to the poly, I already had to cough up money on a vision retest although when I called back the facility I went to they said I passed vision 20/20 and they have no clue why I have to retest.

The claim that this was included in some new contract with the union is highly unlikely as nothing has been pushed out to the rank and file. Additionally, I don’t see how the union would have any grounds to negotiate the hiring process.

I am not a big fan of Polys but they have been well established in federal and local LE hiring. I’m surprised that it took this long for them to implement it.
