  • Trying to distract myself from this awesome waiting game by engaging in some of my favorite activities: ICE Cream, ICE Fishing, ICEometric exercises...strangely, it doesn’t seem to be working.

    • I took and passed my polygraph - Sept 2020, this month things have started moving for me. The wait can be awful.

      • Anyone happen to know how long you have to stay at a field office before you can transfer?

        • If you receive a LOI, that means you’ve been assigned a BI, right?

Not yet. But you are about to get one once you respond to that letter with explanations (Response to LOI).

Got a LOI last month. Responded to their questions right away. A week later, I got an email saying I will be contacted by the investigator for an interview. I was finally contacted and will interview next week.

            Good Luck

        • Absolutely not, it means they’re looking into your background but you don’t get a BI investigator until you get pre appointment clearance.

          • Ahhh ok, thanks for the good info.

            • Peace, appreciate the explanation. I responded about 2 weeks ago, right after I received it, so hopefully that BI is right around the corner. Best of luck to you too next week and I hope to join all you fine folks in an academy soon.

I was under the impression that if you are transitioning from one agency to the other, even if you get bumped down a grade they would place you at a step to which your salary would not decrease, but remain the same or higher. I could be wrong though.

You are right…i read the TSL in details and noticed they did in fact matched my GS 12 with an GS 11 step….i guess i’ll request my GS12 step ## after the completion of a year…i’ll have my SF50 ready before making the jump..

Yes and no. If you bump down to a lower graded position and that position tops out lower than your current grade there could be direct pay matching. The scenario discussed here is dropping down a grade but the FPL is the same or higher than the current grade held. Under this scenario there is a drop down rule. If straight pay matching were authorized upon re-promotion to GS 12 the individual would would be awarded a higher step (at that grade) than previously held.

Example GS 12/1 RUS base is $77,488. Let’s say This guy takes a GS 11 DO spot. Pay matching would put him about 11/6 (75,427) or 11/7 (77,582). Upon re-promotion he would be entitled to 12/2 or 12/3 and both are higher than previously held. He would most likely be offered an 11/4 (71,116) and upon re-promotion would become a 12/1.

              • Any one in the New York Field Office? If so, how’s the work environment, management, schedule, work load etc.

Am not expecting it to be a glorified field office nor am i expecting to be gung ho when i get there. I know dues has to be paid as any newbie in any federal agency does. I just want to get a general feel for it…feel free to PM me. Thanks
