And trust me federal police isn't it either except for park police. So stay in the hug a thug agency or hit the streets and be a cop.
If someone wants to be a street cop then the best place is probably a local PD or SO’s department. I have never worked for the Park Police nor for BOP. So I can’t comment if the Park Police is the best job ever (I highly doubt it). I have worked for 3 separate federal agencies (not counting my military time) and have interacted in a professional capacity with many fellow federal LEOs, local LEOs, foreign LEOs, foreign government officials both here and abroad. I have extradited individuals for a variety of crimes to include murder as an escorting officer/agent and coordinating officer/agent. It appears to me that you are somewhat limited in your overall understanding of what federal law enforcement is all about. Federal law enforcement has always been more narrow in scope. The main federal law enforcement agencies (like the FBI, DEA, ATF, ICE, USMS, CBP) actually do “real” law enforcement and make a big difference but they have their lanes of jurisdiction. I have personally arrested thousands of individuals over my career to include murderers, rapists, pedophiles, gang members, drug dealers and all other kinds of human scum. These kinds of positions with the flagship federal law enforcement agencies pay very well and offer a very solid retirement. The flip side is the federal government’s 0083 series police officer. These positions for the most part function more as a security officer than a street cop and the compensation typically is much less when compared with the federal law enforcement covered positions.

And some of us can't be local cops.. I have PTSD and social anxiety, a bad back, sleep apnea, and some mental issues from service. I make a pretty good living off what I make (70k ish) and I get to do traffic enforcement (my main goal)

And that's understandable, in the end a person has to decide what's best for them. Opinions are like..... well you know the rest
