  • Can I quit this job?

    Hey guys,

I was given a "tentative offer of employment" by the Border Patrol as a Sector Enforcement Specialist. I filled out the paper work SF-85P and other background investigation paperwork and they are still in the process of investigating me. However, I have an offer to take another job. Does anyone know if I am allowed to do this? Any experiences in this area?

    --Thanks!

One of the feds can better answer this...keep in mind the background takes awhile.
I have been through the process, I'll shoot you a pm...

Thanks for the info bro! I think I may have worded my question a bit ambiguously however. I am not referring to taking another job and waiting on the BI, I am talking about taking another job and "quitting" the job I was offered thru the tentative offer of employment for good. Basically "take my hat out of the ring." Is this allowed after you have signed the tentative offer?

It's decision time. You can withdraw from further consideration with the Border Patrol, and pursue another opportunity. Just be certain it's what you want to do.
