Your dumber then the last guy. At least he was smart enough to know he made a mistake and moved on. Hit the link I provided genius- It will bring you to the RECRUITER who posted HIS information on this public forum.
Do you know what a RECRUITER does for a Living? Do you know the meaning of R-E-C-R-U-I-T? Take your head out of the comic books (superman) and pay a little better attention TO DETAIL.
I WILL EVEN DO YOU A FAVOR- TELL ME WHAT A RECRUITER DOES IN A PM THEN CHANGE YOUR POST. THEN I WILL MAKE THIS POST GO AWAY

i think cman's post was appropriate considering you put an officers name and contact information out on the internet, if its not available on their website, YOU should have pm'ed it to her. I doubt that officer with LVMPD wants an extra 400 phone calls a year from every tom dick and harry with a question about lvmpd.

Really, I would think your reply was really smart . Before you have a wise as- comment make sure you do your research first.
I see you want to be in Law Enforcement you do know that an integral part of Law Enforcement is Teamwork- Now if I were you (which many on this forum would agree by my past actions) I would have sent you a PM if I thought you posted something that may hurt you in a public forum. I'm not sure what you were trying to accomplish by calling me out. All you did was expose yourself.
Take some advice and and be a nicer person, it will get you further in life. Good luck in your process

I am taking the test next week, but am quite surprised that they assign new analysts to the graveyard shift. At LAPD and LASD, crime analyst is a day job, and most of the assignments come from senior personnel who are not around in the middle of the night.
Working graveyards suggests a lot of short-term projects regarding crimes that have just occurred.Dal:
Can you send me an email at:

I'd like to try and find a Senior Crime Scene Analyst to answer your question(s). I can speak from personal experience, although that may not be the same as having someone who is in that position responding.

Las Vegas Metro Police Academy
Does anyone know if women who join the academy can reside off post and still come home to their families on a daily/regular basis???

Hey folks. Alright, lemme make a few comments. I just got off work so I have some time to spend.
First I would strongly recommend reading this thread: http://forums.officer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=59290. It contains a complete write up of the process with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD). Someone else posted the link earlier, but inside the thread is how the process is broken down. There's about 1,000 applicants, not 10,000. I've done my best to write any questions people may have in the thread. Read that thread and it will answers the questions you all posted here. I continue to update it whenever it needs to.
Ghent - I have experience with their process from the civilian side (but I also am familiar with the commissioned side as well). It's very intensive and Metro goes through everything. It will take about 6 months from the time you test to the time you get hired. However, they are changing to 40 man academies each month so that may change, I don't know. I certainly encourage you to come test. You never know until you try.
nr5667 - Check the thread I posted, it's also in my signature.
Mole177 - PT is done outside. Starting this November, the academies will take place at Mojave and Northwest Area Command. They will be 40 man academies each month. (Academies used to be at Mojave but then they built Northwest and the academies moved there.)
It does get hot in the summer. It reaches around 115 or so. It it critical that you stay hydrated. It's certainly not impossible though. Other police officers have gone through the academy during that time and they made it. LVMPD is a very respected department. We are one of the best, if not the best in the nation. I recommend heading to the Nevada forums and reading the threads there. You'll probably get a quicker response there.

Originally posted by Counter-StrikeAs previously stated, the academy is 22 weeks long. To ghent, it's not 10,000 applying for 400 jobs. There are 10,000 jobs available over the next 8 or so years, and there are about 400 hires a year.

Originally posted by ghentI've been emailing back and forth with a recruiter, and I'm definately going to sign up for the september or november testing dates. It's not an "everyone who applies gets in" kind of job, but from what I've read it seems like just about anybody who meets the qualifications has an extremely good shot. I found this link http://www.reviewjournal.com/lvrj_ho...ecruitment.gif on one of the forums here and that definately aleviated my "10,000 guys all fighting for the same 400 slots" worries.
