I’ve been stalking this Nov 2017 page for a bit now and figured it’s time for me to join in. I was in the hiring process for the DEA (hence the username) but decided to withdraw from the process for a few reasons; mainly due to the fact that DEA does not tell you your location until midway through the academy. I have a family and decided that going in blind, not knowing where I was going to end up as was not the best move for me and my family so here I am now…… I took the test with the ATF back in March and got the email stating that I am eligible. From everything that I am reading, it appears the process will take about 2 to 3 years. I do have a contact that is a SA with the ATF now who said all classes are full for 2019. Just wondering, has anyone heard anything from their contacts about anything???

Full as in all offers have gone out for FY19 or that there are enough on the shelf to potentially fill it? Any clarification?

You and I are in the exact same boat. The not knowing where I would end up changed my mind about the DEA very far into the process.

I was told the same thing by several agents. At the very earliest anyone who applied Nov 17 can expect to get an academy date is summer 2020 or so I'm being told by almost every SA in the CONUS. so long haul here we come. lol

Okay so I had a phone call with a SAC in Texas who states he believed that hiring pipeline would become "more liquid" in the next few months. That conversation took place in very late aApril.

Then this morning I received an email saying my PFT would be scheduled for sometime in July or August. Im processing out of Dallas.

Maybe the pipeline will loosen up a little?

Bbl2018 It was good. I'm not a big cardio person, so my run time was weakest portion in comparison. but the PT test is fair. I suggest focus on your weakest portion, but train to the test.

Yep. I passed mine today as well. Did you get any nuggets about classes or anything from the agents that were at your test?

Partial gov shutdown affects DOJ and ATF. You are not going to hear anything until gov reopens.

Although the partial shutdown is impacting the DOJ/ATF, as a current ATF employee I can tell you that the lack of communication regarding the 2017 schedule b hiring is not a result of the current shutdown.

As a 4 year applicant I can agree with that.
