I don't know if you have seen my timeline at all, but I applied for this job in March 2016 - Its almost 2 years later, so yes, the FedGov hiring process can be painful, more painful for some than others and I have no idea why, lol. I'm a current Federal Employee and I have seen it go fast, and seen it go very, very slow as in my case for this IOI position. If you are already in the BI portion of this journey after applying just around 6 months ago, you are doing pretty great in my book.

Yeah, still not sure why they accelerated our BG investigations? Needed enough students to class up? The bump stock controversy? -
I'm not sure if this most recent batch is accelerated or if mine was just extremely slow. I don't think there is a shortage of people to send to classes though. I think every time there is an announcement, there are in excess of 2000 applicants. That's crazy and gives a little insight as to why sometimes it takes so long. That is a lot of people to sift though.

Hi everyone. I'm new to the forum. Applied in May 2017 and currently undergoing my BI. I was offered Portland. How long did everyone stay in their BI phase? Hoping I hear something by Christmas!Comment
-
Hi There, I have no idea how long I was in the BI phase but have heard some go as fast as 2 months and some taking as long as 6. I know I started my BI in April and didn't hear anything again until November so I'm not entirely sure if that was when I was completed or not. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful.

Spoke to HR today and was advised that they will be making more selections this week and next week.
Syncerj189...have you sat down with your investigator yet?Last edited by SknarBeu84; 12-12-2017, 04:40 PM.👍 2Comment

So I did some math in terms of trying to verify when the class starts in February. Many of us are currently FED employees and know that we get paid bi-weekly. Having said that I doubt they will start a training class in the middle of a pay-period. So, February only has two pay-periods. One beginning February 4th and the other begining February 18th. 8 weeks prior to February 18th is December 24th, Christmas Eve. Since pretty much every Federal Agency will have their HR's closed, that means the week of December 17 is their deadline to notify those attending the February class. That's my hunch.Comment

I have been crunching the numbers myself and have come to a similar conclusion as to when we might hear something before the winter holiday recess. However, when HR called me on 21-NOV they stated that the next academy would be starting on 05-FEB-18. Furthermore, they said that Entry on Duty (EOD) emails would be sent out 8 weeks prior to class start which is this week.
So fingers crossed we all should hear something by COB Friday is my hope. -
Oh ok. That makes sense because the beginning of that pay-period is February 4th. Well let's hope we all hear something this week. Forgot that the weekends would be RDOs.

Cape Girardeau, MO. I was hoping to make the February date, but it doesn’t look good since I have not had my sit down with BI yet.Comment

Hello Everyone,
I wanted to join the IOI discussion. I applied for the position in 2015. I passed the panel interview, received the Fed ex Package and had my sit down BI with the OPM investigator. Unfortunately, I was not offered a position that round. That being said, I am currently in the process and received an email about a month ago stating that I was being considered for a specific location and to return specific paperwork within 24 hrs. Some of the paper work was the same paperwork that was in the Fed Ex package that I received in 2015. Since returning the paperwork, I have not received any contact. Do you think that the email(return in 24 hrs) was a replacement for the Fed Ex Package since it contained similar documents?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In your case - I would call HR on Monday and ask them. I only say that because I haven't heard of the packet coming twice with information that needed to be returned in 24 hours, unless that was your disclosure agreement???? I definitely say give them a call on Monday for some clarity.👍 1Comment

I swear I had a disclosure agreement in my initial fed ex packet. I could be wrong but I recall signing something like that.👍 1Comment

I made copies of all my paperwork and I do not see a NDA in mine. You may have had one, but I have not seen one at this point. How long was it for you from the time you turned in your SF86 until you were contacted by an investigator? -
I believe it was about two week but it was staggered. Two weeks after submission I got questions from an agent on my mother's citizenship. Then the next week was questions from an agent in a State I had resided in. Last, a week after that I had my sit down with a local agent and my investigation was submitted. So, about a month sf86 in and investigation out.
