No and no haha...still waiting. I wish there was a way to find out something! Anything! The suspense is killing me!

  • #77
When did you apply? I totally understand what you mean when you say the suspense is killing you. I applied March 2016.

      I applied in May 2017

Wow. I haunt my emails, phone, etc. My DEA DI progress has stalled at no clue if I passed the interview.

Hopefully I snagged a regulatory investigator position with the State of Florida so that if this doesn't pan out I can at least build up my investigator experience.

I interviewed in Florida - actually live in Florida now. What part are you in? Good luck on all of it. Which are you wanting more out of DEA or IOI?

  • #79
I'm in Miami and only being considered for the Miami office.

Honestly, both DI and IOI appeal to me. However, I have heard from DI folks they think their job is better. Lol

Totally unbiased opinion, ha!!! Great luck to you.

I mean... I get it. Maybe DI are more chemistry and drug related. Less hate involved because pharmacy regulation not as controversial as FFL regulation. Maybe DI has less travel?

Honestly, I would be happy with either.

No worries if you got a FEDEX for a particular office, and nothing comes back in your background. YOU ARE GOING TO GET THE NOD. Zenryoman, you beat me out for the MIAMI office, because that was my first choice-then I got top spot for ATLANTA. No worries we all will get the email.

Are you a 911 Operator? - just a guess off the name?

    • #82

Thanks, 911fedz. As far as the location stuff I put in for Jacksonville, Tampa and Miami with Miami as my number one because I live here. Oddly enough I swear that Jacksonville was a no-go from the start because I remember some sort of "you didn't score high enough" email.

Exactly, I had the same email for MIAMI....... So I guess I score high enough for ATL

Cool, cool. Hoping for the best in all this. When I interviewed the Miami IOI guy on the panel had no idea when the position would be filled. If I do get it I might just be stuck waiting a while.

The suspense is killing me. I already sold my prize possession car in preparation for the move. But if it doesn’t work out I’ll just throw the cash on my current mortgage.

Yeah from what they said on the phone two weeks ago, that they will be sending out EOD letters 8 weeks prior to the 05 FEB class start.

How you do you all pass the time? I google everything - EVERYTHING. I have googled, at length: FLETC, Glynco, Brunswick, Springfield, Il (my location), restaurants in the area of FLETC and Springfield, Il, Weather in both areas, IOI job description, IOI training description, FLETC Student Handbook, ATF gear such as lanyards, credential holders, challenge coins - the list goes on.

I'm an eye on the prize kinda girl

I am out of ideas on how to pass the time anymore so if you can share what you do, I would appreciate it. BTW - me posting here asking you all this is also me trying to pass time.

lol I just sit and dread my eventual denial. I am a pessimist through and through. That being said I applied elsewhere again and again to have back-up plans in place in case this opportunity falls through. In fact, I have a TO from the DOD to be a public affairs intern for the Army Corps of Engineers in Texas and that will be my fall back in case of ATF denial. Hell, I also took on a new state job just to get a foot in the door for the field of investigations.

That is just me and I have also looked up everything I can on every subject related to the work. Now I just pass the time staying busy with home affairs, videogames and the ever present refresh button this page.

LOL! You're funny. I'm pretty confident in saying this (although no type of authority obviously) but if you are in the background phase and you clear that, you will get your job offer. It may not come when you want it, but it will come. In the meantime you are smart for being proactive.

        • #90
I forgot to say zenryoman congratulations on the TO. Even if it's not the job you want, I know that must still feel really great!

Sorry for being a debby-downer and I really appreciate the good vibes. Despite passing my most recent interviews I had initially thought I bombed them. Guess the federal hiring process can just grind people down sometimes.
