I know personally of a member of my department who was assigned to my city, living in my city, he ended up resigning from the agency and coming back to the department, but it's easier to assign persons from this area. Anyone know different?

The few I've heard were from DC, NYC, LA, etc. If you're in that type of mega area it's possible but I've also seen applicants from a big city have to move.

      • At my last meeting, 3 weeks ago, they said under the "new process" you can bet on 99.9% chance of having to move, to ensure you are committed to them.

            • I hope they have another announcement soon for SA and UD. This last announcement was closed by the time I got home to apply.

              • Congrats to DesertHeat!

I have a question re: field office selection:

Are you given the opportunity to tell them where you'd like to go before they offer you the 3-4 options of field offices?

It seems logical that if someone preferred to go to a FO that frequently has a lot of need (NYC/LA/DC/etc.), it would make sense to include that preference in the 3-4 options offered.

They don't ask you where you want to go but rest assured that whether or not you have interest in going to LA, SF, or NYC... at least 2 of those will be in your final offer.
That being said, if I wanted one of those offices as my top choice, I wouldn't hesitate to let it be known to as many Agents / HR folks that would listen that "I really would love to go to NYC (or SF, etc.)". It certainly isn't going to hinder your process!

                  • Hey service4others,

Welcome back bro', I don't know your experience level, but I know field offices have direct hiring authority, maybe you can call your nearest field office, speak to the applicant specialist and they can send you a link to apply, once again I know they will only do this for highly qualified applicants.

Has anyone applied through this method so far? Or explored it?

                    • Any intel or best guesses on when the calls for the April/May class would likely go out?

It never came up on where I would like to go just talks on the "99.9% chance you won't be in the FO you applied out of". As bayranger pointed out, I was told that I would have at least 2 big offices in my choice list. I didn't explore the option of trying to get offered a specific area and I would be hesitant to do so but that's just me.

If I had to make a guess, I'd say they should start rolling out in another week or so.

I've explored it. Tried reaching out but they weren't hiring direct for Special Agents (Probably at that given time). They sent me a list of all direct hiring positions at the time. This was about 4 months ago.

                            • Etoolqual;

That's very interesting, maybe it depends on the field office, but I know since everything has gone down, they have opened it up, as far as the FO'S I have called.

Btw, I remember when I used to indoctrinate Marines in their E tool qualifications lol!

                              • 1st time poster here. A little background about myself. Hospital Corpsman 3rd Class, with 7 years of A/D experience 3 years with the Marine Corps and 3 tours under my belt. Extensive field training and seucrity training with security forces. Currently attending college for an Intelligence degree with a concentration in Counter-Intelligence.

My question is pertaining to an email I recieved from USAJobs yesterday ealry morning, like around 1 in the morning. I logged on to the website and was brought to the Secret Service website where i saw that i would "be notifieid via email" for Grade: 07.

Now before this change happened, the status on USAJobs was "application recieved" then a week later "reviewing applications". On the contrare, Career Connector had said the exact same thing as USAJobs stated. Now all of a sudden, USAJobs status is saying "Application Incomplete" and Career Connector is stating what was said above in the first couple of sentences, that i will be notified via email.

Looking through the application i subitted there was nothing wrong, and everthing was on par with itself. I submitted only my Resume and current college transcripts. I also noticed that in the document submission page, there was an area to submit the "Notice of Results -SAEE" from the exam.

So the question is, could this be the future email to conduct the SAEE? Or am I looking to having to apply again in the future? Any information would be greatly appreciated and helpful. Thank you for your time and patience.
