He informed me that the big manpower focus now is to get as many UD guys in classes as possible before the FY ends. There is a push to get the SA groups rolling too, but don't fret if things go a little slower than expected...as if it isn't already slow enough. The June and July classes are probably all set for those that applied pre 2014 and up in the air for those thereafter (just my guess). Good info to know nonetheless. I'm a May 2014 applicant and still waiting on word of the SAEE.
Good to know. Thanks for passing along the info!

      • Well tomorrow i head off for SAITC (The 2 day course before FLETC).

        Next week I begin FLETC.

If I have internet access, feel free to PM me questions, such as what to bring... or anything really.

Bear with me, not sure if I'll have internet access or not. If nothing else, I'll return in September for a week in-between FLETC and Beltsville. I will answer what I can during that time if not before.

Good luck everyone, be it with USSS or elsewhere.

          • First time poster, long time lurker.

May 2014 applicant and got the SAEE notification yesterday to test next Tue (Southeast)... wow, short notice!

            A note on federal hiring...

I separated from the Air Force last year after six years as an officer. I have my Master's degree and experience leading large organizations, but no prior LE. I currently work for a different federal department as a GS-12... what some of you have mentioned is spot on WRT to federal hiring. Before I separated I attended a federal resume writing class and consulted with several GS-14s who have been hiring authorities... BL is you need to make sure your resume is up to snuff. If you are unfamiliar with the format and type of info they are looking for, google "federal resume." It should be very detailed and considerably longer than a normal resume (mine is 5 pages). Another thing that I do is preview the occupational questionnaire in the USA jobs announcement and print it... circle all of your responses and then ensure your resume supports your answers. This is what the GS-05 HR specialist is going to do, and he/she is the first hurdle you need to clear. This isn't a formula to get hired, but it will help you get "referred" and a testing slot.

            • You will have internet access. It is cheaper to call your local phone provider and ask them about Wi-Fi off your phone I believe it is called hot spot. When I went down for UPTP last year that is how I kept in contact with my family.

              • For anyone who does not already know about FLETC. It is basically the same as being in college. You have a dorm room and a class schedule. Anything outside of class is your time and your time only. It's not a military type boot camp or a normal LE academy.

                • So I called my source down in Georgia in regards to a class in July for CITP there is nothing scheduled. I did find out however there is 2 classes in September. First one Sept 15- Dec 8 second one Sept 29- Dec 19 I believe.

Ok so were getting some conflicting reports. It's not the first time. Also, your September dates are different from what I've heard. Shows to go ya! At least we're done and waiting.

                      • I am a May 2014 applicant. I got my SAEE date a few days ago. I will be taking the test this Thursday. I read over the study guide and it seems pretty straightforward and simple, but I can't imagine this is the case. Anyone have advice about the test?

Can you find out if any other classes are scheduled for june or how many.

Or maybe some other brave soul can call HCD and ask if an other hiring panels AND class dates are planned for JUNE.

Me and Jdub already stepped up to the plate :-)

I second that, in fact, I nominate k103! Haha you got me yesterday!

They're actually very nice to talk to. Ya gotta pull the information out a bit though.

Exactly...for whoever is thinking about calling, they are going to be really short with you and sound like they dont want to talk but they are in fact very friendly. They will not offer any information that you dont ask so dont think that you can hint to what you want to know and that they are just gonna give you gouge.

You have to ask them exactly what you want to know and they will tell you. I tried to make it sound like "I hate to bother you" but she actually insisted that I call if I have questions and that they dont mind.

                              Who is bold enough?

It is exactly like the study guide.
