  • I guess I'll cross that road if and when it comes. I'm already pass the year mark on my poly and medical. Doesn't make sense that I would get recycled only to have newer applicants surpass me because of their more recent timeline.

A budget would be nice, however I am afraid they will keep pushing a resolution on to fund critical components of the government in order to ride it out until election. Politics is such a finicky situation. The only good thing that will come from this wait is that many of the departments will be understaffed and will be looking to hire in a short order. I am in the process for FBI as well and I was told that just to maintain current numbers they need 400 a year. They would like to bring on additional agents once budget is passed. So time will tell.

very true and I hope that is the case for all of us currently in the pipeline. Not much with the government makes much logical sense, but hopefully in this case it all works out for us.

I believe it's two years before your medical expires, but that you just get sent in for another physical at that point; they don't just junk your packet just because you haven't been put into a class by the time the medical expires.

I spoke with a liaison at FLETC who confirmed that the next two classes where "seats are available" (as she put it) will be from June 26 to Sept 13 and Sept 25 to Dec 14 of next year. I asked her what "seats available" means, and she said the secret service petitioned for 24 seats in each of the classes, but these are the only two classes they've petitioned for next year. I asked her if the secret service would petition for more seats if a budget is passed, and she said it was possible, but by the way she answered, it didn't seem probable.

            Here's my timeline:
            Applied: 5/10
            TEA: 7/10
            Initial Interview: 10/10
            Panel: 5/11
            Polygraph: 7/11
            Medical: 8/11
            Home Interview: 9/11
            Background: 9/11
Wow. That is disapointing. I was hoping to that there would be earlier classes. Oh well, it will work out when it works out.

              • Here we go again on another round of politics with the budget, and a potential shutdown is looming yet again. No matter who you side with DEM or REP I think they should go without pay until they make a decision and actually accomplish something.

Ha, I'd be in favor of something like that!

That would be fantastic and at this point seems like nothing short of miraculous! Although the amount related to the 2012 election wouldn't be for new hires, but the staffing levels funding could give us those extra classes that were mentioned. Let's hope!

Hmm, I just read the link and it seems dubious to say the least that it will be passed or that it would necessarily mean more training classes even if it does.....
