  • Has anyone ever gotten past the "Your application is under the adjudicative review process"? I took the poly in January and I left with the impression that I passed. I keep getting the same answer, "because you are a veteran, your application goes to OPM for further review." I have yet to get a solid answer as to what that even means. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

Migra1234, i have been in the pipeline since March 2017. I passed both medical and polygraph summer 2017, all they have said to me is that my application is still "under review." I'm a veteran as well and no one has ever given me the response: because you are a veteran, your application goes to OPM for further review. Did someone at HQ said that to you?

      Best of luck!

The number you call to get status updates. They have been telling me this since February. I applied in October of last year. I kind of wrote them off until I spoke with the ladies the office I am processing out of. They told me many people are being placed in this "review". I appreciate the response. Good luck.

That is incredible. Why would veterans be negatively discriminated like that, over non-veterans? I'm in the same boat, for months now. I thought that was bad, and seeing you guy's timeline, it doesn't make me feel any better!!

I am a veteran as well. I have also been stuck in the adjudicative review process since the beginning of December 2018. My adjudicative review process notification came four weeks after I took the polygraph. Also, I called OPM and they stated they do not handle background investigations for Secret Service. So the adjudicative review process appears to be internal to the Secret Service.

  • Veteran as well. Applied in March.
Had my 2nd polygraph mid-August and I haven't heard anything since.

Congratulations, I am waiting and hoping for that call as well. Took my poly about 6 months ago and am pending adjudication currently. Can we find out if a background investigator has been assigned?

If you don't mind me asking, what was the nature of your second poly? Different questions? Or revisiting topics from your first poly?

Gunny18 best of luck! That's the part I'm interested in knowing, is how often do successful candidates feel terrible after the first poly.

jberry811 yeah I basically left the 1st poly feeling like the worst person on earth and feeling like I failed. My first poly was about 6 hours. I hope my 2nd one is an hour like Mark’s. I’m not looking forward to it but it has to get done. Thanks good luck to you too!

jberry811 I did my poly 10/5 and didn’t hear anything from them. On 10/30 I decided to call HQ to ask the status and left a message for them. The next day I received a call to schedule the 2nd poly.

I'm surprised they flew you to DC for medical and drug evaluations... they will probably still hire you regardless with the shortage of agents. Hope for the best.

You are moving really quickly through the process! They will most likely hire you considering all of the money they spent on you. If a degree was that important, then why not drop you at the beginning of the application process? Good luck!

        • I applied in July 2017 to the SA position. Everything was going along relatively quick. I completed all of the steps in the hiring process (written test, poly, medical, security interview, drug test) by mid April 2018. I have been calling the applicant support line for about 3 months now and I keep getting the same response as some of you ,......"your application is in the adjudicative review process". I have had a few people tell me that because I am a veteran my application will take longer to process.
I recently emailed a Veteran support specialist in the secret service and was told over email that because I am a veteran my application should go along FASTER not slower. This person also said that she will inquire about my application and get back to me hopefully within a week or so.
Side not: My old partner from my old police department applied 4 months after I did (not a veteran) and he is half way through CITP.

This has been my experience as well. I am even considering reaching out to my senators office. I know when a member of congress reaches out to our office for things, it gets done rather quickly. It's frustrating but I don't know what else to do.

No medical or PTSD rating for me.

        • Anyone know any other phone number to call to get an actual status update on applications? Or should I stop complaining because 16 months (from usajobs application until now) is not uncommon for a Secret Service 1811 hiring process??
