Took my poly yesterday, polygraph examiner gave me a verval pass. Also stated if quality control wants me to take another one if I’m willing to retake. Waiting for an update on the app. The examiner was very professional and kind to me.

Completed everything, my background has not cleared from opm it was submitted with a different cbp position but since I applied for cbpo, the drug test and background paperwork rolled over so just had to take the poly. Drug test shows as pass on the app. I am a gs9 applicant.

Medical, fitness, si, and drug test completed. 63% on app. 1/18 applicant.

Congratulations!! That's a major step! May I ask which city you took the poly in? How long was it? If it was shorter, then it may be the new poly exam they're rolling out that supposedly is producing higher pass rates. It sounds like your experience as great compared to people have seen in the past. Maybe we're moving in the right direction.

Thanks! It was 4 hours in Long Beach, CA. It was short and very professional from the examiner. I’m pretty sure it was the new poly exam, I heard previously it was about 6-8? O.o, Waiting for update on the app, ready for the next steps!

Baneblood best of luck to you! I read an article awhile back that they're hoping to implement the new poly across the board by this Summer, but they've been rolling it out slowly with a pilot program for over a year. I'd bet the chances of you getting the new one are good!

My poly was today and it was Definitely more than 3 to 4 hours. The polygrapher was definitely very professional though, wasn’t a horror story. I didn’t get an answer but I was asked if I would come back to retest if offered.

Steph631_ that's odd you didn't get an answer, I think the examiner is supposed to give you a tenative pass/fail based on their own judgement.

N.N. Yea he never said “failed” or “pass” which has me even more nervous. I’m constantly checking the app and my email. I assume if I don’t hear back by end of this week I failed. Seems like those who pass hear back within a week or less.

How long did it take those that passed the polygraph to get an update on the app? Also those that failed, did you get an email or update on app? Thank you

Second time around the process for me.

3 years ago I was qualified for GS-7 in Florida/Caribbean area. Had 100 with no vet points on the entrance exam...got all the way to the poly, and failed.

I am 2 wins and 2 losses on polys now so of course that is what I am dreading when the time comes. Prior law enforcement and Army Veteran (don't qual for points though).

Just got my NOR for the entrance exam and got a 95 qual for GS 7 this time around.

Good luck to all those in the process. It's a heck of a ride.

I’m 17-6 and I signed on for Nogales Arizona, which is apparently really in need of people right now. I met with my bi coming up on 3 months now and I haven’t heard anything. I’ve also signed the provisional clearance but still haven’t had anything happen. I wonder what’s going on with my application

There is no email for the background investigator that I’m aware of, and I’m not on the scheduling phase yet because of the drug test sadly. If you email they drug test they just tell you when it comes up in the system is when you’ll take the drug test

I'm really confused why seemingly multiple people who signed Provisional Clearance Forms are being held up with the BI stage. I thought the whole point of going the provisional route was to allow you to EOD while your BI was still in progress.

That's the perk of going the provisional clearance route. I wouldn't worry though, I haven't heard of anyone getting this far in the process and not clearing their background. Particularly after passing the poly.

I have a question. Once you’re in Academy in brunswick, are you given any # of days of absence? Or will they grant you to take off for a day to attend a family wedding from an immediate relative ?

Congrats! How was your SI experience? Most people seem to say it's much easier than you'd think.

I asked the same thing about them contacting employers, and several people told me your BI will reach out to you before they contact anyone else and that usually won't happen until after the poly stage.

Even though there is an initial “vetting process” first you need to pass your poly but with that said ...

Investigators will reach out ‘after’ you’ve met with the B.I. that is assigned to you. He/She will contact other B.I. in other states if you’ve lived/worked apart from your current HOR (if OPR has questions on a particular part of your SF-86).

If much time wasn’t elapsed between the first time your SF-86 was filled out to when it comes time to do your SF-86 again (Background Investigation) and OPR doesn’t have any questions. Once you pass your poly you might be in luck and not even meet with a B.I. at all. This here is all hopes that you ain’t got no questionable debts or foreign contacts etc etc ...

I also took my S.I. in Newark and even though I won’t and can’t say that every individuals experience is/will be the same. Those guys conducting the interviews aren’t trying to fail anyone (in my opinion) unless you’re a royal ‘F up’ during the interview. I had a good experience.

ok, some applicants had verbal notification from the BI assigned to do the investigation of when the file would be completed and sent up for final adjudication. Thought maybe you’d have had that type of communication also. I’m just trying to gauge my own situation based off other members process ...

Yesterday I got my official NOR to my polygraph results, they are withdrawing my application due to unfavorable results, does not state why I failed the exam but I already knew I had failed since I took it....

      However,

I logged in this morning to CASS, and my CBPO application is no longer there (I knew that) BUT my application for Agriculture Specialist it's still there....
I don't want to get my hopes up but...

Do you all think I'm still in the process for AGS? D: They don't require a Poly, but I was told that a failed polygraph could drop my AGS application too.
      I'm clueless!
