You'll likely have several investigators working on your background. I had a friend call me to tell me an investigator came to their house. That's how I knew it started. I had two more investigators call me to clarify information. And the last one was the one who actually met with me face to face. There is no way to tell how long it will take, so just sit back and enjoy. Some people wait a few months, and others wait 18 to 24 for the final offer. There is no rhyme or reason. Good luck to you.

hello people i`m new to the forum first time posting trying to get in miami airport or seaport i applied back in oct 2007 and i`m getting desperate because CASS says "your case is in the security office" and "qualifications pending" my timeline is as follows.
NOV 2007: TEST PASSED SCORED 83
MARCH 2008: TO RECEIVED
MARCH 2008: MEDICAL AND FITNESS PASSED
APRIL 2008: VBT PASSED
APRIL 2008: DRUG TEST PASSED
BI: YOUR CASE IS IN THE SECURITY OFFICE
QUALS: PENDING
I`ve spoken to MHC several times and they keep saying the same thing that it could take 4 to 6 months to clear background check, my back ground is clean, the thing that worries me is that my credit is good but not perfect. i actually got a call on 7-3-2008 from houston tx from internal affairs wich i think handles the BI`s, asking me for a copy of my citizenship so i spoke to the person who`s handling my background and he said he would try to get it done as soon as posible, but man it`s been a torture. anyways just wanted to tell my story i would appreciate it any info please.Comment

Today I received a call from one of the investigators doing my backgroud check. He told me that he needed to verify the phone number and address from two of my co-workers who were in my unit when I was in the U.S. Army in Fort Hood, TX.
I gave him this information and asked him when I would be interviewed. He told me that he first had to check on this references and that somebody would call me at a later date. He also told me that he did not know the status of my background check.
Has anybody been contacted by an investigator regarding your background check without being told that you have an interview date? Is this a set back or does this mean that I'm half way through with the background check?
Waiting game!!!!Comment

I'd suggest reading some of the older posts, but you'll find that there is no rhyme or reason to who gets hired and when. There are a few of us here that have been waiting on backgrounds for almost 7 months now. Some others only had to wait a few months. I've been waiting about 18 months total, but others have been hired in 6.
It's hard, but patience is the only advice I can give. My only suggestion is to keep all your options open, so if you don't get CBP you won't be crushed and not have a job prospect.ICE IEA

Just relax and breath (remember that phrase, especially in the academy), you'll move through the process at the governments pace. There really isn't any way to make the process go any faster, except provide all requested information as soon as possible. You've been in the process for a little over 7 months, people who are hired in that amount of time are the exception. I know people who have waited seven months just for the T.O. I know it doesn't help any, but just sit back relax and wait. If it helps I received my EOD within a couple months of being called by investigators for more information.But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.
For the intelectually challenged: If the government screws the people enough, it is the right and responsibility of the people to revolt and form a new government.Comment

I read somewhere in this forum that CASS (from the cbp.gov page) updates every Tuesday. Can someone give me the right information? I looked for this information in previous trhreads but was not able to find it.Comment

It has been said that CASS updates Tuesdays/Thursdays between 10-12. But I myself has experienced updates not in that timeframe. So its hard to tell.Comment

I am going to FLETC from August 19th through December 4th. My wife and baby are thinking about coming with me and renting a place for the 3 of us during that time. Is there a way to connect with people in a similar situation for a possible house share? Alternatively, can anyone recommend a local realtor who specializes in short term rentals? So far all I'm seeing is lease terms of 6 months. Also, does anyone know what the parking situation is like at FLETC if I am going to commute from off-site?Comment

Fletc questions;
Does anyone here know if officers receive locality pay (home duty station) when attending fletc and do cbp officers have a 5 or 6 day schedule?
Duty station work schedule;
I was also wondering what CBP officers work schedules are like? Are officers days off consecutive, and are the shifts on a rotating basis such as 4-12 for a month then 12-8 etc....and does each shift choice basically have certain days off such as 12-8 with mon-tues off. Any info here would be greatly appreciated. Thank you....Comment

Those of you having already attended FLETC and with military background, can you get GI Bill benefits while at FLETC training for CBP officer?Comment

As for the rest..no way of knowing. There is no standard schedule. Each port sets it's own scheds. You might be able to get somewhat of an idea if you addressed the question to someone working at the port you hope to get hired at.Comment

Prior approval must be obtained for Basic students to reside in off-center housing. If a student uses housing other than assigned by FLETC, the costs incurred for the accommodations will be the responsibility of the student and not reimbursable by their agency. The student will be notified to utilize the housing assigned by FLETC. Do not contact any off-Center contract housing property prior to arrival or attempt to make housing arrangements on your own. If you have questions, please contact your training officer."

I tried when i was down there but couldnt seem to get it hammered out. It seems they dont recognize it as one of their accepted programs. Some agency's can do it, but unless something has changed, not the CBP programComment
