I took my exam in August of 2008, changed my geographic preference to East Texas in September and waited until February of 2009 to get my T.O. If what is said about waiting longer through the process when you request GS-7 only is true...then I guess I could believe it. It seems like it took me forever to get my T.O.

But as for the process it went pretty quick after the T.O. I had my medical (took a little longer because of the LASIK), fitness and VBT completed about 1-2 months later. Met with my BI in April (for Florida) it took a little longer to clear my background b/c I also lived in Virginia and Pennsylvania (their investigations were in May and June respectively) the past 7 years... what can I say I like to travel.

So from T.O. to TSU about 5 months...

As for my choices:

1) Houston
2) Dallas

and if I don't get those two as an option I'm really not sure where I'll go... My timeline is below.

I don't think FLETC is difficult at all. To me is exactly like college all over again. With the new training we wore BDU shorts with our duty belts for all PT sessions.

I like the shorts idea, and we always wore duty belts for a.t. and d.t. But, do they make you run with the clumsy a** belt on?

Does anyone know if there is a break for Christmas? Now that I have been temporarily removed from TSU, I am looking at what if possibilities. I would hate to be away from my family and especially my children. I will do what I have to do in the end but I would like to prepare them, so it wont be so hard for them having mommy gone for Christmas.

You get all federal holidays off at fletc. But you wont get a "Christmas break".

Yeah, AT/DT/PT are all combined now. My class was the first to go through the new training system. We were running with the belt on through 90% of the training and then our instructor found out she wasn't suppose to have us do that.

You mean Pre FLETC? I think it's happened but it's rare.

Must be concealed if obscene, racially motivated, or gang-related. Otherwise uncovered is fine.

I dont know if this will be an option. Most of the idea behind pre-fletc is to learn your surroundings and get to know port policy and your co-workers. But like anything else, it don't hurt to ask!

No sir. I mailed MHC yesterday just to nose around a little bit. Just inquired about my file being thats it's been almost a year. Thought maybe they'd have a scoop that hasn't caught up to me yet. But they are probably off to day fot the holiday, so i'm not expecting to get any info. On the other hand when they do respond, i still dont expect any info!

Ever try to contact Internal Affairs directly? I can't remember if you have already or not. Have you had to redo your fitness test yet?

Yep did that. All i got was "your case has been forwarded to management on 5/11/09. Status still pending."
Whatever that means...

Oh yeah and yes i re-did my med and fitness in like April i think.
