        • Finally I can post!!! Its been a long time. I had to create three accounts in order to get one with permission to post.

Hi I am Khue, first time poster, long time reader. I am addicted to this website.

Anyways, I took the test on 2/27/09, and recently referred in TSU since 6/11/09 for Northern Washington Border. However, my background investigation is still on going, weird... Thanks for all the info.

                • How did you get at TO at 50? Do you have to be a current Federal employee since age 37? How does that work?[/QUOTE]

                  UoFu,

I got my T.O. 120 hours before CBPO/DHS changed there hiring practice. I might be the last old guy.

I've been running steady since I got my T.O. on 06/26/2008 a year ago this week. It took me almost 3 months to build up to 3 miles without a stopping.

                      Merlin,

3 miles in 25 min. might happen if somebody is chasing me with an axe. Thats 8.33 min. spilts. I don't want to be last while doing PT and don't need to be first. The now 1.5 mile I thought was 16 min. and change and the new October run time is going to 15 min. and change. Anyway I'm training for the 1.5 in less than 15 min. (14:59) F.Y.I. I'm turning 50 very soon.

                      Gotta Run,

                      T-Out
An 8.5 minute mile puts you somewhere in the range of the top 25-30% of 49 year-old males. It's tough, but doable.

                      http://www.fletc.gov/training/progra...-old-male.html

One of the problems with training to the minimums is that you've built in no safety net in case of injuries. Twist an ankle, tweak a knee, stub a toe, etc. and you have no margins to work with. The guy who normally runs the 1.5 under 13.5 can limp in a minute and a half under his normal time and still beat the 15:00 clock...if he needs to.

                        • Got my NOR a few weeks back, 90-Northern Washington. Doesn't look like many people have been getting TO's lately. Kinda depressing.

                          • I tested on May7th and got my NOR on June 12th. I selected NJ as my location. I'm not sure how quickly they're hiring, but it doesn't seem like anyone else picked Jersey.

SES's are non-LEO support personnel. Part dispatcher, part watcher of cameras and sensors, part data-base researchers.

Tops out at GS-09 pay for Border Patrol. The few NLECC guys in Florida top out at GS-11.

My wife's cousin-cousin by his father side is a CBPO who recently graduated sometime in March this year he is station in Port of Miami also sometimes at the Miami Int'l airport when they have any special operations going on. Anyway We don't see him often but when there is any get together by my wife's family I usually see him and yesterday was one of those days who I had a chance to sit down and we chat for a while. At least from him we get some type of an answer of what he might know about what is going on with Miami and Florida slots. He has no idea about any of the other locations in florida but he sure promise that he has heard from his Supervisors that new slots will be open after October for upcoming graduates and new candidates who are in the process as we speak. Maybe this may not reflect us right now but those who are in TSU waiting or ahead of us but we sure have a chance by begining of next year after more slots will be held for future graduates. They have pleanty of slots to filled in the airport and seaport area. Just want to let any of us out there who are waiting for a TO for any were in florida that we do have a chance and have hope we get that letter, might take a while but there is a chance after all.
very good... I was hoping to find some answers here!
