Application to EOD is 12 to 18 months on average for a CBPO hire. Sometimes quicker, sometimes longer. There is a multitude of reasons of "why". Don't quit your day job, keep your nose clean and carry on with life. As for Florida, there is no secret formula, +/- 12 to 18. If you get that far!

It depends on your instructor. Expect to run a couple of times a week. There is a lot of weight training, squats, lunges, pushups, etc.

But is much better to have that then dial up or looking at the iphone all day long lol
I disagree; sure a wireless plan costs more, but that's wireless data and not a hardlined connection. Even if they're suppling the Wi-Fi router setup, that's still too much. Granted I'm not saying people should fight it; I wish I had wireless when I was at Artesia.

Also I don't think the extra money goes towards what was involved to procure it. It's a government contract, as soon as it's done the money is in the ether. Of course that's also the other big reason why WiFi has taken so long to get to FLETC campuses; the contract process is excruciatingly slow (this comes from a FLETC ops specialist that I met while at academy).

        • The wifi is actually 30 bucks a month for standard web/email access, so there is a download max that is preset. 40 bucks gets you access that is only limited by what other people are doing on the network at that time.

I paid for the 40 bucks option just to see if it could handle a netflix stream. It can't, it choked to death after about 20 minutes. I can't think of any other legal things you can download that need that much bandwidth so I'll be downgrading to 30 bucks next month. Honestly it's nice just to be able to check on my email and utility accounts without having to sit on the stairs in front of the student center. So no complaints here.

Food isn't horrible, but after the third or fourth week you just start to dread the repetition of it all.

40 isnt that much. It beats walking across the base to sit on your laptop only to have slow internet. Maybe its expensive for you.

Someone asked for the price we posted it. End of story. im sure most of the people in the dorms dont mind the 30 or 40 dollar option.

OK..I really want to quit my job, but I can wait..It give me time to get back in shape. I been a couch potato for almost 8 years. I'm on the coach potato to 5k program..I can jog for longer periods of time now, but I'm not even close to do the half mile in 13 minutes. I got back on shape enough that if I take the pre physical I think I can pass it.

There's no doubt that most (if not all) FLETC students will be taking advantage of the service though; as I said, I'm not disputing that. But in my opinion (key phrase), 40 is pricy. 30 isn't terrible and sounds like something worth the money.

                • Rivea176,

I worked that same program. Today I was off Two minutes on my 3 mile run it took 32 min. Maybe it was the 96 degree heat or the pancakes that were cooked for me this AM by my kids. And yes I am bragging bit. 10 min. splits were my goal. Now I am working on stride and finish kick. If I can do this you can to. Just don't over do it too fast or too soon.

                    Not bad.

If you can bring your 3 mile down to 25-27 minutes and your 1.5 to 12-13 minutes, you're pretty much where you need to be in order to make the academy running program "easy" on yourself.

                    • I got a call today. I saw a 605 area code with a weird number. I took a deep breath and answered the phone... but it was too late. It went to my voicemail. Then I tried listening to my voicemail but I had no signal. After running around for 30 mins I listened to my voicemail which turned out to be some non-sense citigroup advertisement. They're just toying with my emotions now! It's all a conspiracy!

I know I can get back in shape. The hard part is start and I'm already over it. Still when I think that I have to run I hate it, but I get a great accoplishment filling when I finish my run. I think running is not one of my favorites hobbies.

I'm already seeing the results I lost around 10 pounds and my wife said she can see a difference in me. So, even if I don't get pick I still have positive results.

For how long have you been on the program? This is my third week.

                        • Rivea176,

I've been running steady since I got my T.O. on 06/26/2008 a year ago this week. It took me almost 3 months to build up to 3 miles without a stopping.

                          Merlin,

3 miles in 25 min. might happen if somebody is chasing me with an axe. Thats 8.33 min. spilts. I don't want to be last while doing PT and don't need to be first. The now 1.5 mile I thought was 16 min. and change and the new October run time is going to 15 min. and change. Anyway I'm training for the 1.5 in less than 15 min. (14:59) F.Y.I. I'm turning 50 very soon.

That's really good for 50. How did you get at TO at 50?
Do you have to be a current Federal employee since age 37? How does that work?

My wife's cousin-cousin by his father side is a CBPO who recently graduated sometime in March this year he is station in Port of Miami also sometimes at the Miami Int'l airport when they have any special operations going on. Anyway We don't see him often but when there is any get together by my wife's family I usually see him and yesterday was one of those days who I had a chance to sit down and we chat for a while. At least from him we get some type of an answer of what he might know about what is going on with Miami and Florida slots. He has no idea about any of the other locations in florida but he sure promise that he has heard from his Supervisors that new slots will be open after October for upcoming graduates and new candidates who are in the process as we speak. Maybe this may not reflect us right now but those who are in TSU waiting or ahead of us but we sure have a chance by begining of next year after more slots will be held for future graduates. They have pleanty of slots to filled in the airport and seaport area. Just want to let any of us out there who are waiting for a TO for any were in florida that we do have a chance and have hope we get that letter, might take a while but there is a chance after all.
