The reason that I am asking the question, since someone like me already got a TO, and just waiting for TSU, but I already have to wait for at least 1/2 year. There is no point for them to keep hiring, correct?

Also if someone got 7x to low 80 in their score, it is up to them to give you are TO? or anybody that "pass" still get a TO?

Also; if you already got your B/I done, does it mean they already put you in the "picture" and prepare to hire you? I mean, if they are fully staff, they shouldn't be wasting money on hiring B/I to do a background check on EVERYBODY... .. i dunno... I see who can help me! Thx

I am still a CASSholic. Give me TSU already!!!
I have yet to hear about a POE being "FULLY" staffed, when we are talking about Med. to Big POE's, so they will keep taking in applicants. They will test and process as many people as they can to have them on standby, remember that you apply mostly for a region that has various POE's and openings are most likely available at any one of them.
I'm not an officer, but I have been in the process long enough to see how hirings go, I do have to admit that this is the first time I have seen it so slow... I'm pretty sure that as soon as they figure out the budget and needs for next FY, things will get back to a "normal" pace.
    Hope this helped...

    BTW
TO's are given in score order, not just cause you passed you get one... In theory if you applied for a small POE and got a 99, you could end up waiting a very long time for a TO, since someone else could get a 96 with Vet points added and have a better score than you... That goes on every testing cycle that your Port of choice is offered, they get the scores of the new testers and if they all scored higher than you, they get the TO's.

    • Well, today is day 120 waiting in TSU, and officially I am done. I have waited long enough hoping today will be the day, and it never comes. Right now I am just going to move on from a CBPO position. Maybe they will call one day, but if of is a decrease in pay I will say thanks but no thanks.

I would like to say thanks to Yoda, Barnaj, and of course Merlin. They all were a bunch of help navigating though this process.

I'm sorry if I forgot anyone else. Good bye everyone and good luck.

No place is ever fully staffed, and there is not a set number of people to be hired in a year. If we are granted 100 new positions in an FY, we may end up hiring as many as 1000 officers or more that year to stay up on normal losses.

People leave for a number of reasons; retire, die, go to other jobs, go to prison, fail out in training. These are also filled though out the FY along with the new positions. The end of the FY is time for correction before the new one starts. Positions still are coming open, and being filled, and there is nornally a flurry of hiring just before the end of the FY.

Likewise not everyone will be given a TO, or progress in the hiring process. People will be dropped for a wide variety of reasons, that is why we try to keep a large applicant pool. For that 100 known jobs, we will test about 10,000. We expect to have 5,000 pass, we expect to loose 3,500 in the background. and about 1,500 in the interview. Of those 500, about 250 will get tired of waiting and take other jobs be medically unsuited or whatever.
Of those remaining, they will be offered the jobs, and some will quit shortly after hiring, fail training or not make probation. These are the facts that out of 10,000 we are lucky to get 100 and some spares.

Keep in mind that not everyone who applys will be given a job, you don't get a participation trophy. If you have made the steps, hang in there and wait for the end of the year push.
Life is what happens while you are waiting for something better to come along.

            TPA,

            You're in TSU.

Essentially you're lined up at the starting line awaiting the gun going off...do you really want/need to back away now? Your chances of getting a call are damn near 100%. At worst, you're probably looking at sometime around Oct.

Ultimately, you've got to do what's best for yourself and your family. Good luck with your choices. Just know that the call almost certainly will come.

                      • I wouldn't mind being in TSU, atleast those who are, you eventually get the call. I'm struggling with just passing my medical bc of hearing, something I can't control. To make it this far & get dropped bc of it would be heart breaking. Sent in my audiologist paperwork today, hope MHC passes me.
But what I'd give to be in TSU! Just try to be patient, it'll eventually come.

If nothing else, moving on well help you forget about the wait. When you least expect it you'll get a call and then at least you will have an opportunity to choose whats best for you.

                          • Well I got letter saying I was found 'unsuitable' for the job 'cause of "Criminal Conduct".....A quick rundown of my 'criminal' past for you....I married a Mex. Natn'l, when it came time to begin her residency process, we were told by USCIS that she needed to start living here during the process. So she came to the US with me (she crossed legally w/ her B1/B2 Visa). We got an imm. lawyer, he also told us to stay in the US.The process took 8 mos. Her visa only lets her stay 6mos. So now according to CBP I am a criminal...by the way during her 8 mo wait ,she was told by both parties that it was FORBIDDEN to step a foot in mexico during this process.

Well it sounds like you aided her in being an overstay. From the sounds of it, you were doing what you thought you were supposed to. Tough spot to be in. Was this the response to a NOPA, or is this your first chance to respond? As far as MSPB, forget it. Take my word for it, they will give you the courtesy of taking your case, but since you are just an applicant for the job, which you knew required passing a BI, i'd bet money that they deny you.
