I thought the new run in OCT is 15 min flat...also did anyone take the new fitness test? Just wondering FOR SURE how many push-ups do they want?

Running a 12 minute 1.5 isn't all that hard for most people. All you need to do is run, then run some more. Then put in the extra 2 miles for CBPO success afterward.

Those people who master it before the Academy pretty much guarantee themselves a spot on graduation row. Those who don't risk losing out by 4 seconds.

I really don't understand why they don't make you run 1.5 miles for your fitness test before paying for you to go to training. I know it's the govt but you would think you have to pass that first to get there. If they did that I wouldn't have made it now so I'm glad they don't. I am working now on improving my running time. That sucks to miss it by 4 seconds to the person who did I'd definitely be kicking myself for that!

      • Woot!!!

Just logged on to CASS for S's and G's. Not really expecting to see any movement and boo-ya there it was! B.I. cleared and the phone status line confirms it. Took just a little over 4 months.

All thats left is Quals. I am qualifying based solely on education so I guess its just a matter of sending in my transcripts. I missed a GS 7 by .05 of a GPA point. Anyone out there have a time machine they can lend me so I can go back to the 90's and smack myself. I'll pay for gas.

At this point my only question is should I call MHC and see if they want me to send in my transcripts or should I try and stay under the radar and stall a little while I wait for my new TO?

From this forum I have heard for some time now that the new fitness test will take effect June 1st. But a couple of weeks ago I printed out the new CBP Officer Fitness Requirements online and it says that effective July 1,2009, a new Pre-employment Fitness Test (PFT) will be implented for all CBP Officer candidates who have not taken the PFT. The new test consist of two parts. Candidates must pass each part to continue in the hiring process. Part One requires candidates to achieve a minumum cumulative passing score; Part Twomust be sucessfully completed.

          Part One

Push-ups (as many proper form as you can in 1 minute)
Side Step Test (as many line touches as you can in 10 seconds)
Sit-up Test (as many proper form as you can in 1 minutes)
Lift/Lower Test (8 cycles as quickly ans safely as possible)

          Part Two

Step Test (step in cadence for 5 minutes)

Seems like the Push-up Test is as many as we can do and my opinion is two try and achieve 20-25 push-up in that one minutes just like the BPA Push-up score requirement is. Hope this info will help.

I'm waiting on mines as well. It has been 3 weeks so I figure is coming soon since it usually takes 3 to 6 weeks.

We, or at least I was, talking about FLETC PT requirements, not the pre-employment fitness requirements. If you think you will just get a step test at FLETC, you are in for a rude awakening down the road.

Yeah the part with the cumulative score should be a cinch unless you're badly out of shape. Your main PFT hurdle has been and still will be stepping it out for the 5 minutes.

Well gents, take it from the unlikely minority like myself who has had the background say complete, just to find out it was an error that the completed code was entered by mistake. And this is after i emailed MHC to verify if it was an interim or not and they said it was completed in full. Never, ever assume you're in the clear until you have your badge at graduation.

Seriousely!! I run 1.5 in 13:30 and that step test almost killed me.

O.K. maybe I'm exaggerating a little but that step test is no joke.

I agree, even though im not in as great of shape as i used to be, im pretty athletic. And say what you want, but i can see how the porno stepper knocks people out of the process who dont take it seriously.

That step test was brutal. I went from 0 excercise in 5 years to that test. Everything was easy except for the step. I almost blew a gasket.

These days I run 1.5 miles 3 times a week and do around 20 pull-ups on average per day plus the long walk with the wominsk. Step test would probably hand me my arse if I did it again.

What is everyone else's running and fitness schedule these days, if you don't mind?

Just kidding. But seriously after 4 months should I assume that this is a full clearance or interm.

I try to take nothign for granted, but I'm fine with saying that my BI is cleared while I wait for Medical and Qual to come in. Just the morale booster that I needed.
