    • So I got ahold of TSU today and got my final offer for Tecate PoE in CA. I ended up turning it down. I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to take anything unless they offered a position that had a lot of interest. Tecate doesn't really fill that void. I've been happy with what's going on at the Border Patrol Academy, my station and the group of guys I'm going with to there, so I'm sticking with what I got. I talked for a bit with the lady and she wished me luck. I wish all you good luck to with whatever you decide to go with. Take care and be safe.

So, I just got a package in the mail from MHC. Not good. I am not medically cleared because my medical showed a history of back and neck pain. I never ever said anything about that. Apparently, I mentioned that I go to the Chiropractor. They took that as back and neck pain. What a friggin crock. Now I have to schedule an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon! This is ridiculous. They didn't seem to care about the shoulder injuries that I disclosed.

Word to the wise for those yet to have medical screening: Keep your mouth shut about anything other than a major injury!

I talked to MHC 5 weeks ago and they told me I wasn't cleared b/c I had a procedure done on my back in 2004. I knew that was coming so it wasn't a big deal to me. At that time I asked the lady if everything else had cleared. I mentioned the EKG and hearing..and she said everything else was clear. A few days later I recieved my packet for my back. I went to see the orthopedic surgeon and was cleared in about 2 minutes. SUPER QUICK!! I mailed it off and began to wait. FOUR weeks have passed and THEN I get the packet from MHC this past Friday saying I didn't meet the hearing standard!!! WHAT?!? I called them up today and I was told that I had met the standard for Border Patrol but not CBP! (I had passed written test for both) Now I have to see an audiologist. I really wish they had sent the two letters together. My medical is the only thing left for me to clear! Does anyone know what the audiologist test will be like?
I actually put on the application that I had back issues in the past (I figure it was better to be up front, I hate to be caught in a lie). I saw a physical therapist for about 3 months, and I had follow ups with an ortho MD, yada-yada-yada.
And after all that BS, they didn't clear my medical, because according to my EKG my heartbeat had an irregular pattern.
Anyhoot, went to the cardiologist, had a monitor put on for 24hrs, they did an echo scan, stress test, etc etc etc you name it (well at least some of the office staff was HOOOOT!)...Well, took long enough but the cardio said I was healthy, wrote a letter and I was cleared.
My buddy has been wearing glasses all his life, was also not cleared because of it. He had to go to an ophtolmologist <sp?>, he cleared him.

Side note: I suspect had it not been for the medical problem I would have been referred to EOD back in December, and who knows if I would've even made it to the March 5 class.

Yes...if they select you to take it. Not every applicant is required to test.

When I went for the medical I was found not qualified because of a small scar on my neck and an issue with my foot. I had to go to my doctor and have him certify the issues would not interfere with my duties. The scar on my neck was about the size of a dime. The only way it interferes with my job is when it itches. My foot never bothers me enough to interfere with anything. I did receive a letter from the doctor doing the physical with a copy of my EKG with a hand written note to go see my doctor. Apparently I have some kind of irregular something or other that in healthy people is normal, but if you've had a heart attack is bad (figure that one out). I found it funny that the minor issues resulted in a not medically cleared letter while the one that seemed major was perfectly fine. What made the follow up even more funny is my doctor is on CBP's list to provide physicals. He saw what why is was found not medically cleared and asked me how the problems would interfere with my job and said the determination didn't make any sense.
But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same object, evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new guards for their future security.

For the intelectually challenged: If the government screws the people enough, it is the right and responsibility of the people to revolt and form a new government.

Looks like you already know what it is. Pretty much a dummy drag, jump a wall, climb though a window, and a 14:30 run of the 1.5 mile.

The key to passing the IEA physical requirements, or the CBPO physical requirements is to practice. Sit-ups, leg lifts, pull-ups, push-ups. Then practice again. Repeat until fitness occurs.

Especially for women, those who end up with it are those who strive for it. It's all a matter of mastering your mind and body.
