Strangely, except for a sprained ankle about 10 years back, I can't say my lack of flexibility has really mattered to me all that much.
Yeah the only time it matters is the extra time it takes me to lace my boots up, so i might be late for class!

      Don't forget...it's all unisexed.

You can probably run the 1.5 mile in 15 minutes while tied at the waist to a Ford Windstar...but a lot of females struggle to get there.

      • I honestly hope this is not the case. Even when I was in high school, working out and stretching HARD every single day, I could never do any good with a sit and reach. No that I'm older, I know that it would be even more difficult. None of the other requirements bother me, but that one has had me worried.

        • i havent p/t since i got out of the marines 6 months ago, but i dont think it will be a problem for me i used to run 3 miles in 23 mins

          • I was a little surprised that situps were not on the list. They make a little more sense than the sit and reach test.

            • Just when I was starting to lose hope due to a complicated background investigation...

              IT WAS COMPLETED TODAY !!!!!!!!!

Just thought I'd share since I am ecstatic at the news! I've only got the quals left. I can't wipe this grin off my face....

Anyone else in the Seattle area waiting just on quals or almost done with the process?

I never understood how someone can't do a simple sit an reach, until one day when I hurt my back at work. Nothing major but enough to scare the crap out of you. My back has never been the same though, now I wake up in the mornings stiff as Florida palm tree on viagra...LOL

                    Why would you assume that?

Those who get a NOPA are given a chance to clear the record and show why they are suitable, if it were so bad then you get DQ'd and asked to remove your TO from the line.
Even when you make your best effort to respond to a NOPA it is still up to the adjudicator to decide if you are suitable or not, and how quickly they process your file depends entirely on the adjudicator as well...

So you can say that YES you are lucky, but I am sure you are not the only one...
Quick question though, did you just receive the letter out of nowhere, or did you clear CASS/Hotline and then got a letter???... Or are you still pending on the system and got a letter?

Trust me the PT was not as intense as I thought it would be. You dont have to be ex military or ex LE to pass the physical part bout the job, just be motivated and dont quit. All the PT instructors want to see is that your mentally ready and that you dont count yourself out before it even starts.

Ive seen guys and gals different shapes sizes and ages where i swore up and down a mile and a half would probably kill them in the GA heat/humidity; and they pass it cuz they want the job that bad.

Compared to all the other agencies that PT at FLETC GA trust me CBP has it best and easiest. Try running with the US Marshalls, DEA, DSS, or Secret Service.

Start getting into shape now so that way when you do your first 3 or 4 mile run in GA you wont be dying. Bad news though, unless your from the south then you know how to cope and deal with the humidity/heat. As for me I was from San Diego, I nearly died lol
                        What if quotas did exist?!

Really, how hard is it to step forward and do a bit of research?

I find it sad that a lot of people will post a question, wait...repost...wait and repost then again looking for an answer. If somebody can wait 8-24 hours for one of us to answer his question, he sure has the time to do his own legwork and find his own answers.
I noticed some information is incorrect, misleading and/or contradictory on this and other forums. Further, things do change. As such I think it is ok for us to return to some issues. With that said I most often do my research, as all of us should, then I post my questions if they are left in limbo.

I am waiting for Northern WA. Quals and BI needs to clear. My background is complicated. Met BI at the end of Nov.
Question- What is complicated about your BI if you don't mind sharing? Did you get a NOPA? How long did it take?
I want to guesstimate my scenerio.

Talked to someone at TSU a couple days ago and she told me they weren't currently hiring. She said that could change any day and would be surprised if I were in TSU more than a month. Hoping to join you soon!
you should be getting a call soon.. i was in TSU for only about 3 weeks, or just a little bit over that.. good luck
