    • How long does it take for the checklist to change to TSU status? My last thing pending is qualification, but I got the letter today that I qualified for GS-5.

        • Keep in mind guys that for the first 2 years while you're on probation, CBP can and might let you go for any reason...or no reason at all.

I'm not so sure I'd be walking in with the idea of filing union grievances, especially over fairly trivial issues like wearing long sleeves. At best, it seems to me to be a Pyhrric victory in the making.

          • Money question for the recently hired people.

I know the pay tables for GS-5 and 7. My question is: after all the taxes, deductions, and other harmful and unnecessary things… how much is left?

No overtime, just a regular weekly check. How much do you take home?

            PM messages always welcome!

Quals were the last thing for me to clear as well, apparently they evaluate them in batches so depending on how your time line falls it could take a while if you just missed a batch.

If you have met all of the requirements you can expect it to be about a week or so before it changes. The good news is that when CASS or the phone system finally changes to "Referred to schedule EOD" the date you were transferred to TSU could be up to a week or so prior to the day CASS and the phone system actually update. Sit back and enjoy the wait.

WOW, I dont like the thought of possibly being let go for whatever reason. This is very concerning, especially since im moving from New York to Florida for this career. Any CBPO vets have any input on this? What are the chances of being let go for whatever reason during your probationary period?

                  • Im not a vet but my take on this is that I hear "you pretty much have to fire yourself" alot. I would take it with a grain of salt. I understand your worry but, even tho its TRUE, I HIGHLY doubt they would let anyone go just because they can, unless for some reason, a POE somehow picked up WAY too many applicants and we miraculously achieve world peace or the drug lords happen to decide to take a decade off. Do your job and Im sure you'll be fine.

                          • I wrote an email to MHC and I received a response promptly regarding my drug screen. My first sample was lost in the mail. The second one cleared already but not updated in CASS or hotline. VIA email I confirmed that my drug screen was cleared. She Also told me that my Background could take 4-7months. Ouch!!! If it's any faster it would be a pleasant surprise.

                              • From what I was told, You might be able to take some leave after you graduate from the academy. Its up to Whatever location you get. To be on the safe side, I would take it in the near future( within the next 2 months).
