Nice to see some fellow ND'ers here. I grew up in Mandan and lived in Fargo for a while after I got out of the Navy. That's a long drive for a poly!

    • Just checking back in from this morning.
my location Is Newark New Jersey.
yes mine took 8hrs 8:30- 1600 however I have much respect for my examiner. He very professional, extremely fair and exhibited a lot of patience.
like I said it’s not a sprint it’s a marathon and am not a train athlete but am going to finish even if am the last person to qualify.

A’m a turtle slow and steady wins the race.
October/2018 was my last correspondence until January 2020 they email me for a date. However due work I missed checking the mail and getting back to them, so they gave someone else that opportunity. Nevertheless I persevere and Feb/25/2020 was my opportunity and I maximized it. Stay focus everyone and think wise.

Your length of time isn't relevant. I know people that worked for TSA as an E band that are coming in as both GS-7 and GS-9. I think it just depends on how your resume looks and what announcement you apply for.

Also may have to do if your airport deals with international flights, and how well you can articulate you meet the requirements for GS7 or GS9.

Me. Took the poly and at the end of the exam the examiner gave me a verbal pass. The next day she emailed me saying that QC said I needed to take it again. Went in for the second time. Once again, she gave me a verbal pass. The day after she said that QC approved it and I passed!

Thank you! I choose the Minneapolis- Saint Paul Airport in Minnesota. I finished the BP academy but for family reasons choose to leave and pursue OFO so I can live closer to them in Minnesota. The BP academy was way harder than my local PD academy. Not so much the academics but the physical fitness. We had a guy in our class lose close to 50 pounds. I think I was in fairly decent shape going in and still lost 20 pounds. Besides the PT department everything else was not that bad. I wouldn't say easy, but not bad.

I honestly just sent an email weekly to the case manager asking, "what's the status" etc. always generic email. SO I decided to contact the recruiter for my region and got in touch with them, and had several e-mails back and fourth and I do believe my Poly location is a TDY location. SO I don't know if that made a difference. I will let you know how my poly went, pass/fail, hopefully not fail. we shall see! Good luck everyone.

    • Hey everyone, I just got the call early last week. I EOD July 22nd for the Newark, NJ location and I have a few questions. I have not been told yet what to bring for my EOD date and what the dress code is. Does anyone have a list of what to bring to their EOD date and what to bring to FLETC? I have seen many people saying you will need to bring boots and anything extra is up to you. What are the requirements for boots and how tall must they be? I appreciate the help.

For EOD, business casual. No need for tie or jacket, button-up w/ slacks will do. Your HR person or mission support specialist meeting you at your port will probably ask you to print/bring some papers. You will likely get your PIV (CAC) issued the first day, so supply driver's license and passport (or birth certificate). Other than that, a pen and notepad will come in handy. From what I understand, you don't NEED to bring boots, but the ones supplied are supposedly garbage so it's a good idea. no height requirement, 8-inch boots tend to be more comfortable for me. Good luck.

Wassup forum? I havent been here in a while since I am on day 53 of my Academy. Im here for anyone that has a question or questions about the Academy, so ask and will try to answer as best as possible or you can DM too. If i don't reply right away its because im busy training so just be mindful of that.

Jbenz you have the option if you want to drive in your own personal vehicle, you just have to make it in the assigned travel day here so that depends on where you are.
-Right now I am by myself in a Hotel room off center because fletc is full, but we might be moved back on campus soon because some spaces are getting freed up, which sucks because I only have have 6 weeks to go and now have to move back

        Good morning,
I hope this message finds you well. I start the academy Sep 14th. I was curious what can I do now to prepare myself for the academy?

Is the academy hard? I'm def no Harvard grad. As time gets closer I'm start to stress more.

        Thank you

bchalmers bchalmers just keep on working on your 1.5 miles under 15 min or less, 220 dash in 45 or less and 24 push ups or more in under a min. you have plenty of time to be ready plus when you get here thats literally an extra 4 months because only your final fgs counts. on the academics won't sweat it, as long as you take good notes and pay attention you will be fine. no need to stress.

    • Hello all, just got this list from someone who is going to fletc soon.. Wanna to post so you guys have an idea what to buy for fletc.. Of course you can get your own info 2 3 weeks out, and also during preacademy, they will tell you what to bring to fletc too... I will just get the boots and the running shoes for now... Was thinking Bates or 5.11 side zip, 8" water proof...

V_AntCBP do you know if it is good to have a POV at FLETC? In Artesia it was very handy because the closest good restaurant was 30ish minutes away. Is it the same in Glynco?

Klumper23 honestly it's nice to have your own car for the weekends, but the shuttle goes into town a good bit. Uber rides to town cost under $5 as well.

    • How's everyone at FLETC enjoying it? I'm finishing up my first week.

If you have never been to FLETC, it's a great experience. Not much i can really say. They pretty much give you all the equipment you will need

    • ***GI BILL OJT***

Alright, for those who want to use the GI Bill while at the academy, you need to fill out VA form 22-1995 or 22-1990 depending on if you've used your education benefits in the past. Do this during your pre-academy because there will likely be someone there who has done it before and knows specific instructions for your particular port. Once that form is mailed off and certified by the VA, your CBP VA liason (might be at a regional hub like Boston) will be notified and do the remaining work to see it through.

One thing I did not know when I started the process is that these benefits are not just for the academy, but for your actual OJT which could last up to 8 months or a year depending on the port. I want to say the VA has authorized the benefits to last one year regarless of how long you are actually on OJT. Depenidng on where you are, could be a good chunk of change. Good luck to all.
