375 Days!!! After meeting with your BI? I know of a few who waited 8 months, 7, I waited 5.....

  • I was in announcement 18-13, and after 18 months I finally got the call but they wouldn't budge on location -_-. Kept pushing Arizona but I can't leave Florida, and they wouldn't even offer anything in Florida. Guess I'll wait each month to check the new announcements.

Florida is very hard to get man, you gotta be extremely lucky, be a woman (sometimes, some loc needs women) , or Vra to get Florida. If you deny location , they will remove your application, even when you see a Florida loc pops up, apply it, there is no guarantee you will get that loc, I had Miami on my application, they didn't give it to me either, my suggestion is accept a location and try to transfer back later. Or apply some other fed job such as ice, uscis, usss, they have more positions in Florida. Good luck man

  • Finally after 2 years I got the call for JFK, EOD in June! Hang in there those who are in the process... It's long but there is an end

Thanks everyone! It is indeed a relief, big weight off the shoulders. Luckily I'm from NY and got JFK so logistically it's easy, with a family leaving for 4 months is a challenge but one we will tackle.

fonzi7979 18-5 general hire. After your polygraph things move quick hang in there.

xIronxManx yes 6/30 academy... You have the same date?

SmokeScreen07 awesome maybe we'll be working together at some point, keep in touch

rmpee thanks for the feedback see you at JFK one day if they give me the opportunity. Good luck and 4 months +/- will go rather quickly you will make it work with the Mrs. I am in the same boat a little sacrifice here and there will be all worth it in the long run.

  • Anyone here know what the OT is looking like down in the Brownsville TX area? Once all is said and done I plan to go hard at OT when possible like I use to do at my SO. I looked at the port they are sending me to for orientation and it's only open from 6am to midnight. Are there any 24 hour ports down there since there are so many different types there? Hopefully I'll get stuck on nights.

Hm maybe if the port is only open those 18 hours you'll luck out with callouts and be able to work 12-16 hr shifts.

fonzi7979 My SI was in 4/12/19. So it was someone else that you spoke with during your appointment. I only was able to email my case manager and I found a number online for Human Resources, they gave me a similar number to my case manager’s that handles BI from this end not OPR. However no one ever answered. Which BI recruiting number did you call? Is it for everyone or only if you’ve been recruited?

  • Does the Academy train both the CBP Officers and the CBP Agents differently?

I asked what the standards are between CBPO and Border Patrol Agent earlier but my phrasing was weird so I apologize

Posted updated to clarify between customs and border patrol officer and border patrol agent.

There is no job series of "CBPA" or "CBP Agent".

To answer your question...yes. Every law enforcement position in CBP has it's own distinct academy with different training based on different complexities and responsibilities within each job.

Maybe. Aggies are not "agents". They are also not law enforcement.
They also attend their own distinct academy.

Border Patrol Agent academy is in Artesia, NM and much more difficult, physically. CBPO academy is in Glynco, GA and less difficult physically, more difficult academically.

  • Any 19-2 announcement for JFK receive email or call for the polygraph exam lately. Just trying to get a sense of timing.

Hello, I used this forum quite a bit towards the end of my process and just wanted to share a couple of things.

      1. Even though they say calling and emailing does not help speed the process up, I seriously think it does. Every time I felt the process was no longer advancing I would email or call the appropriate department and within 2 weeks things would start moving again. Could have been a coincidence, but after 2 or 3 of these happening it made me think otherwise.

      2. I live in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas and was seriously hoping my location would be somewhere close to home due to several personal reasons. When I received THE CALL I was offered 3 locations in Texas that were a little further than I was hoping. It really was full of mixed emotions. Happy to finally have received the call, but not excited about the locations. Luckily I contacted a buddy that is currently employed with CBP and he suggested I called them back the following day and ask to speak to a Supervisor (Specialist) and simply explain the situation to them and see if anything could be done. After talking to the specialist and explaining the situation to them they told me that they would send a request to my preferred location but, nothing as far as how long it would take, or what their response would be was guaranteed. I assumed it would take at least two weeks to hear back from them due to how long the entire process took. Surprisingly, I received a call the next morning telling me the request to the city I wanted was accepted.

TLDR; when offered locations, you still have SOME bargaining power, especially if you present them with valid reasons for wanting/needing a specific location. The least you can do is try and the most they can do is say no.

Would someone be so kind to provide me the Credibility Assessment Division email address and/or an email address to a CBP recruiter in PA? I emailed the [email protected] address found here: https://www.cbp.gov/careers/frontlin...cbpo/recruiter but I have not received a response.

[email protected] , and the baltimore recruiter email is correct. She probably is out for vacation... she is ok. PA_Ed unfortunately , you will only get generic response from ICAD and recruiter cannot help anything with poly wait..... Poly wait is brutal for some people man, we just have to wait it out... I know how you feel man, I had to wait 50 weeks for poly myself, you applied in May 2019 so its not that bad yet. Good luck bro

V_AntCBP - Thank you bro, I hope all is well with you, I always think of you when I come to this thread because I know we began waiting been waiting for what feels like forever at a similar point, lol.

Page - I sincerely appreciate your time and insight, you pose some great points and I have to say I agree with you. In the eyes of CBP, our wait times are all normal/expected and not a "pressing matter". Good response

    • Did my SI 2/26/2019 and still waiting for a poly. Seeing applicants who applied a few months ago and already ahead of me is beyond ridiculous. But I guess good things come to those who wait..
