fonzi7979 not on day one but within the first week, about half way through the academy and towards the end of the academy
And there are lots of people that fail the first FGS...

invertedPanda according to the paper they just sent me yesterday there is. And its required to pass. If there isn't one that's fine with me but I will be practicing for it since they told me there would be one.

no sit and reach here, they just haven't updated that paper. The FGS is performed 3 times at the begging, at the middle and end of the Academy. only final one counts. like someone mentioned, lots of people fail the first or parts of it and then they work on those so they are ready for the final.

  • Hi folks, I noticed that CBP did a soft credit pull today. 18-6 currently at 63%.

Ive seen alot of people put this, I have Experian and Credit Karma and it never shows any of these credit pulls. Even when i met with my BI he said he had pulled my credit. I went and searched and it did not show anything.

jcsaenz3 Credit Karma only shows the hard pulls on your credit report. If you check annual credit report website and request report from there, it shows the complete list of soft pulls on your record.

whitjj72 all 4 tests count. There are 3 times you'll test. According to the paperwork it is during first week, then at the half way point, and again at the end. You only need to pass the last one at the end of the physical fitness portion of the academy for it to count.

invertedPanda are you there now? because the information you keep giving is different from the paperwork that they are currently sending out to people about to head into FLETC. If you are there now it wouldn't hurt to share that fact with them so people won't waste time working on things not needed and concentrate on other things lol.

merlin436, What if you are both strong AND intelligent? Guess that didn't factor into your dichotomy here. Also, "CBPA", if you are starting to age out of eligibility for CBPO and BPA, you might as well put in for CBPA, without regard to how strong or intelligent or whatever combination or preference you have for CBPO and BPA. Because it's not going to matter what you can do or what you want to do if you are too old for the LEO positions. Like in my case, I've been trying to be hired for CBP since 2014, and I might never make it due to the age cutoff. Doesn't matter if you are strong or intelligent or both, if you are approaching the age cutoff, CBPA might be your only option. So, you all might as well go for it, CBPA, they are probably opening more spots soon according to recent approvals. Could be a good option for people who can't get the port they want, too, try CBPA.

      @Page

There is no "CBPA". If you're talking of Agriculture, it's CBPAS. Border Patrol is BPA, more often shorten further to simply PA.

A person who is prior military is unbound by age restrictions, but yeah, it is very possible to get jammed up by age in the covered positions otherwise.

There are roughly 2400 CBPAS in OFO. They are employed in less than half of OFO ports. Even with the couple of hundred additional hires recently approved Congressionally CBPO will still be the more available option...and the only option in most ports.

merlin436, Sure CBPA or whatever you want to call it, looks like a good range of locations, including overseas assignments based on the following: https://www.cbp.gov/careers/frontlin...duty-locations
"Agriculture Specialist Duty Locations The Office of Field Operations staffs over 300 land, air, and sea ports of entry throughout the United States, in addition to several pre-clearance duty stations overseas." Check it out, doesn't look too bad for options, considering that "There are 328 official ports of entry in the U.S. and 13 preclearance offices in Canada and the Caribbean." Thanks so much for letting us know the stats on how many CBPAs there already are, and how many more might be hired. Yeah, it is not all that many, and I am sure everyone on this forum has an interest in doing law enforcement work - don't get me wrong the LEO positions are my first choice. I'm just trying to put out some helpful info for people like me who invested a lot of time in their degrees, and invested a lot of time in the CBP Officer process, but might not make it due to age cutoff. At least for those people they can put their education to use as an Agriculture Specialist, and they might have a good chance at the job because at least from what I have experienced not that many people know about the job.

I am aware that there are 328 ports in OFO.. Plus the various overseas locations. I can also tell you with out reservations that OFO staffs Agriculture Specialists in less than half of those locations.

If CBPAS appeals to a person, by all means, apply. Just don't get your hopes up that the numbers work to your advantage as they do with CBPO hiring. They don't...on multiple levels.

osviusmc I know the feeling I’m in 19-2 regular hire sitting at 50% awaiting to be scheduled for the polygraph exam. Many others same announcement regular and same port are flying through. I am aware there was a shutdown back in 2018 but by now you would think they would be caught up. I guess it is what it is. Good luck you probably will be scheduled before me.

Last response from my case manager is that my file is with OPR and background is in progress whatever that means.

  • Hey a few questions regarding FLETC...

    1. Are you able to drive down to FLETC in Glynco regardless of how far you live if you choose?

    2. Should you bring a TV with you?

    3. Are duty boots supplied or do you have to bring your own?

Except there are several individuals that going around mocking people, talking down, idk wtf wrong with them, people don't know that's why they are asking, if don't like the question, just don't response, you know what I mean, I would hate to work with those individuals, always negative thinking about people, about the job, about the whole world... • Hey, everyone. Former PA, newly minted CBPO. EOD 6/15, and Academy 6/30. OG EOD date 2008 Class 803 Artesia, NM. Going from South Texas all the way up to Blaine, WA. I really wanted to stay in South Texas, but I wasn't even given a choice, at all. Lady said Blaine, or reapply to another announcement, so here we are. Anyone else with those dates? Also, it would be great if anyone currently in Blaine would hit me up. Nice to meet y'all. As an aside, I'm pretty upset that CBPO are only getting the new G19. I was really looking forward to having a full frame sidearm for my sasquatch hands. It makes absolutely no sense. They have the contract, it should be up to each agent to choose the size that works for them. No more one size fits all BS. That's why there were so many issue with the HK, nowntheyre doing the same damn thing.

I get that. Stick to your guns. I mean, I wouldn't of made that choice, but if it's what's right for you and yours more power to you. Florida might be tough, I hear it's a pretty desirable area. Southeast in general. Not only is it more desirable, there's not a whole lot going on down there, compared to other areas of the country in regards to actual border stuff. Obviously there's plenty of work, I just mean in the grand scheme of Border Protection. I've spent my whole career in South Texas. Now I'm headed North. If I had it my way I'd be Brownsville, or around there. Blaine sounds aight, though.

@xlronxmanx Brownsville is where I'm heading off to in 6 weeks. I'm surprised they wouldn't give it to you. It wasn't on the list they gave me at first but I asked them if it was open and they said yes, but would prefer me to pick a city that had a higher need. It pushed my EOD back a few months but they let me have it.

I've considered it, and I may do just that. I'm not too chapped about Blaine. I would rather stay in South Texas for my own personal ease. However, I embrace what gets tossed at me. If nothing else it'll be a fun new area to explore. I'm a northern boy by birth, up in the Adirondack Mountains. So, if nothing else, I'll be able to get back to my skiing and snowmobiling. Plus, all the new people I'll get to meet and network with. Honestly, the only thing that gave me pause, was the darn cost of living up there. Super high. We get a good offset with Seattle locality though, and it's plenty busy from what I hear.

I have been serving the united states government since I talked my parents into letting me sign up for the Army at 17. I applied to be a CBPO while I was a BPA. For whatever reason, I had to take the poly. I got inconclusive results on that thing 2 times. Passed it on the third attempt. Apparently, veterans have a hard time getting by all the national security stuff, especially if you've been deployed. There is no rhyme or reason to that poly as far as I am concerned. I am about the most straight laced guy you'll find, and an exemplary agent. I damn near lost my job because of that thing. This isn't to make you more nervous than I know you already are. It just blew me away, and I have been in the government literally every day of my adult life. I was not at all concerned with the poly, and then it beat me up pretty good.

      my timeline wasn’t too bad

      19-8 CBPO reg
      19-8 Border Patrol Direct
(selected CBPO when they called with final offer)

      Applied - May 24, 2019

      Eqip - July 2, 2019
      Interview July 9, 2019
      Medical - July 24, 2019
      Poly - Sept 9, 2019
      Met with BI - Nov 13, 2019
      Drug - Feb 4, 2020
      Final Offer - Feb 10, 2020

I EOD on June 15 and have FLETC from June 30-Nov 4

my CASS still shows 75% with drug pending, so not sure why it hasn’t updated yet.
