  • Hey a few questions regarding FLETC...

    1. Are you able to drive down to FLETC in Glynco regardless of how far you live if you choose?

    2. Should you bring a TV with you?

    3. Are duty boots supplied or do you have to bring your own?

Rubicon agreed, delphi forum has great source of info. Except there are several individuals that going around mocking people, talking down, idk wtf wrong with them, people don't know that's why they are asking, if don't like the question, just don't response, you know what I mean, I would hate to work with those individuals, always negative thinking about people, about the job, about the whole world... Lol

Delphi's CBPO forum is a fraction of where it was in the in the glory days of the past. It's now mostly driven by trolls, propagandists and agency bashers.

Take pretty much everything there now with a huge grain of salt.

Jbenz some people have brought their TV's with them or even gone out and purchased a cheap one at Walmart. Honestly, you're better off waiting to see where you'll be housed. If you get put up in a hotel, what good is that tv?

-yes you can drive but you only have 24 hours assigned for travel.
      - yes bring your tv

      - im gonna say the boots assigned here take a few weeks and are heavy af. bring your own cheap, comfy pair of boots for the Academy and then just buy your nice pair of your like for when you get back to port.

  • 5 months in after SI. I tried finding any information on DCSA website, just to see if there was anything I can find out about my status. Nope. Good luck everyone !

I have a question about poly. I saw some people here saying that poly queue are based on SI completion date. Is it true? or the waiting time will be reset? This hiring process is painful.

corsair I think you will get it before me for some reason 19-2 announcement candidates have been placed on the back burner with the govt shutdown back in 2018 may have backlogged. You have reapplied and that will help you. We shall see. This forum gives me some sense of idea from everyone’s experience with this long process it’s just a matter of time.

    • Hey, everyone. Former PA, newly minted CBPO. EOD 6/15, and Academy 6/30. OG EOD date 2008 Class 803 Artesia, NM. Going from South Texas all the way up to Blaine, WA. I really wanted to stay in South Texas, but I wasn't even given a choice, at all. Lady said Blaine, or reapply to another announcement, so here we are. Anyone else with those dates? Also, it would be great if anyone currently in Blaine would hit me up. Nice to meet y'all. As an aside, I'm pretty upset that CBPO are only getting the new G19. I was really looking forward to having a full frame sidearm for my sasquatch hands. It makes absolutely no sense. They have the contract, it should be up to each agent to choose the size that works for them. No more one size fits all BS. That's why there were so many issue with the HK, nowntheyre doing the same damn thing.

I get that. Stick to your guns. I mean, I wouldn't of made that choice, but if it's what's right for you and yours more power to you. Florida might be tough, I hear it's a pretty desirable area. Southeast in general. Not only is it more desirable, there's not a whole lot going on down there, compared to other areas of the country in regards to actual border stuff. Obviously there's plenty of work, I just mean in the grand scheme of Border Protection. I've spent my whole career in South Texas. Now I'm headed North. If I had it my way I'd be Brownsville, or around there. Blaine sounds aight, though.

@xlronxmanx Brownsville is where I'm heading off to in 6 weeks. I'm surprised they wouldn't give it to you. It wasn't on the list they gave me at first but I asked them if it was open and they said yes, but would prefer me to pick a city that had a higher need. It pushed my EOD back a few months but they let me have it.

xIronxManx Why not just reapply? I reapplied every month to new announcements until I got the port I wanted. You have plenty of time between now and your EOD, everything will just transfer over to the new application.

I've considered it, and I may do just that. I'm not too chapped about Blaine. I would rather stay in South Texas for my own personal ease. However, I embrace what gets tossed at me. If nothing else it'll be a fun new area to explore. I'm a northern boy by birth, up in the Adirondack Mountains. So, if nothing else, I'll be able to get back to my skiing and snowmobiling. Plus, all the new people I'll get to meet and network with. Honestly, the only thing that gave me pause, was the darn cost of living up there. Super high. We get a good offset with Seattle locality though, and it's plenty busy from what I hear.

Congrats your running through this process quickly. What port was your preference? There are many of us waiting for the polygraph more than 6 months after SI. Don’t be nervous you will be fine. I been telling that to myself everyday since the waiting game began. We are human it’s normal to be nervous when you want something with no control except to be humble and blessed to be given the opportunity. Good luck

I have been serving the united states government since I talked my parents into letting me sign up for the Army at 17. I applied to be a CBPO while I was a BPA. For whatever reason, I had to take the poly. I got inconclusive results on that thing 2 times. Passed it on the third attempt. Apparently, veterans have a hard time getting by all the national security stuff, especially if you've been deployed. There is no rhyme or reason to that poly as far as I am concerned. I am about the most straight laced guy you'll find, and an exemplary agent. I damn near lost my job because of that thing. This isn't to make you more nervous than I know you already are. It just blew me away, and I have been in the government literally every day of my adult life. I was not at all concerned with the poly, and then it beat me up pretty good.

20-1 DH applicant here. CASS 50%. Passed SI 01/20 and in the holding pattern. Fast turn around on the poly-congrats! It gives me hope that my turn will take less than a year! One of my SI interviewers said they were trying to complete the process in 6 months. I had to keep a straight face... My recruiter said the average wait from clearing medical to poly was 4-5 months.

As far as the polygraph ,I haven't done any illegal things.I am worried I may become sweaty because of my nervousness and be disqualified.I currently live in Texas and applied for ports in Washington, Illinois, and California. Here is my timeline

        Applied 10/12/19
Initial assessment scheduled 11/9/19(I rescheduled because I wasn't sure if I wanted to go through with process)
        Assessment taken 11/14/19
Original S.I scheduled on 12/5/19 but I was out of country.
        Meidical examination 12/13/19
        Fitness Test 12/24/19
        S.I 1/15/20
        Polygraph 2/14/20

    • Hey all,

new to the forum. I completed the hiring process and am now awaiting my EOD date. I selected Los Angeles.

      my timeline wasn’t too bad

      19-8 CBPO reg
      19-8 Border Patrol Direct
(selected CBPO when they called with final offer)

      Applied - May 24, 2019
      Took the exam - June 17, 2019
      Eqip - July 2, 2019
      Interview July 9, 2019
      Medical - July 24, 2019
      Poly - Sept 9, 2019
      Met with BI - Nov 13, 2019
      Drug - Feb 4, 2020
      Final Offer - Feb 10, 2020

I EOD on June 15 and have FLETC from June 30-Nov 4

my CASS still shows 75% with drug pending, so not sure why it hasn’t updated yet.

Florida is very hard to get man, you gotta be extremely lucky, be a woman (sometimes, some loc needs women) , or Vra to get Florida. If you deny location , they will remove your application, even when you see a Florida loc pops up, apply it, there is no guarantee you will get that loc, I had Miami on my application, they didn't give it to me either, my suggestion is accept a location and try to transfer back later. Or apply some other fed job such as ice, uscis, usss, they have more positions in Florida. Good luck man

    • Anyone here know what the OT is looking like down in the Brownsville TX area? Once all is said and done I plan to go hard at OT when possible like I use to do at my SO. I looked at the port they are sending me to for orientation and it's only open from 6am to midnight. Are there any 24 hour ports down there since there are so many different types there? Hopefully I'll get stuck on nights.

fonzi7979 My SI was in 4/12/19. So it was someone else that you spoke with during your appointment. I only was able to email my case manager and I found a number online for Human Resources, they gave me a similar number to my case manager’s that handles BI from this end not OPR. However no one ever answered. Which BI recruiting number did you call? Is it for everyone or only if you’ve been recruited?

    • Does the Academy train both the CBP Officers and the CBP Agents differently?

I asked what the standards are between CBPO and Border Patrol Agent earlier but my phrasing was weird so I apologize

Posted updated to clarify between customs and border patrol officer and border patrol agent.

There is no job series of "CBPA" or "CBP Agent".

To answer your question...yes. Every law enforcement position in CBP has it's own distinct academy with different training based on different complexities and responsibilities within each job.

Border Patrol Agent academy is in Artesia, NM and much more difficult, physically. CBPO academy is in Glynco, GA and less difficult physically, more difficult academically.

    • Any 19-2 announcement for JFK receive email or call for the polygraph exam lately. Just trying to get a sense of timing.
