That’s all we can do is hope they are picking up the candidates file and pursue it so we can get scheduled for the exam shortly.

  • Dodge_Guy19-4 I received an email back in October 2019 saying my eqip has been submitted to OPR for review, this is the next step in the BI process....

correction: just checked annual credit report and sure enough Customs was listed on there for October 2019. Hopefully things get rolling.

    thank you for the input

@whitjji72 & Dodge_Guy19-4 thanks for clarifying I went back and I did receive that email last March so I guess it is in the works so we shall see.

  • Would like some input on anyone that has any recent information. Applied to Announcement 19-12. Just got the pass on my polygraph yesterday. When I applied I selected Buffalo, NY. as my preferred location because I live there. Any word on if they still have vacancies? Does FLETC let you leave for the birth of your child? Thanks.

Just got the call.. EOD is August.. quick question about FLETC.. merlin436 and corsair. Is there a curfew on weekends for FLETC? Like if I have a late flight on a Sunday and won’t be driving in until 11PM. Will I be able to get onto base or are their gates that close... thanks

We had a guy in my academy who had a kid get up to three days off, but that the max time you can miss before you get kicked out. He decided to only use two days so incase he got sick he had one day left.

I'm here at Flect now. There is no curfew, you can come in and out at whatever time you want (after the training day is over at 16:30 of course) as long as your *** is back on that chair at 7:30 the next day or next monday if its a weekend.

  • I met with the background investigator yesterday, appx. How long does it take to get called for the drug test?

  • GarrettFaulks no I’m still waiting for Poly, please let me know if you get Buffalo. Same as you, that’s my preferred location, and a really good chance that I won’t be able to take any other location unfortunately. Hoping I’m not also waiting for no reason.

there is no official packing list for Fletc but I will say this: other than your personal hygiene stuff, pack black t-shirts to wear under your uniform because you can only wear black under. Buy a cheap pair of comfy boots, dont worry about spending a ton of money on boots because you will be walking a lot here and you will just messed them up, leave your nice good pair of boots for when you graduate and go back to your port. Other than that, pack comfy clothes for your off time, like t-shirts, joggers, shorts, a pair of sandals, gym clothes, bring two pairs of sneakers so you can leave a pair at your assigned gym locker. If you are driving and have room , bring anything that will make you feel more at home like your computer, a small tv, a PlayStation or w.e. EVERYTHING ELSE , you will get it here.

  • TsFost Congrats to you!!!! You will be okay, there are tons of post on what to bring to the academy. Where do you have to report?

fonzi7979 not on day one but within the first week, about half way through the academy and towards the end of the academy
And there are lots of people that fail the first FGS...

no sit and reach here, they just haven't updated that paper. The FGS is performed 3 times at the begging, at the middle and end of the Academy. only final one counts. like someone mentioned, lots of people fail the first or parts of it and then they work on those so they are ready for the final.

jcsaenz3 Credit Karma only shows the hard pulls on your credit report. If you check annual credit report website and request report from there, it shows the complete list of soft pulls on your record.

whitjj72 all 4 tests count. There are 3 times you'll test. According to the paperwork it is during first week, then at the half way point, and again at the end. You only need to pass the last one at the end of the physical fitness portion of the academy for it to count.

invertedPanda are you there now? because the information you keep giving is different from the paperwork that they are currently sending out to people about to head into FLETC. If you are there now it wouldn't hurt to share that fact with them so people won't waste time working on things not needed and concentrate on other things lol.

merlin436, What if you are both strong AND intelligent? Guess that didn't factor into your dichotomy here. Also, "CBPA", if you are starting to age out of eligibility for CBPO and BPA, you might as well put in for CBPA, without regard to how strong or intelligent or whatever combination or preference you have for CBPO and BPA. Because it's not going to matter what you can do or what you want to do if you are too old for the LEO positions. Like in my case, I've been trying to be hired for CBP since 2014, and I might never make it due to the age cutoff. Doesn't matter if you are strong or intelligent or both, if you are approaching the age cutoff, CBPA might be your only option. So, you all might as well go for it, CBPA, they are probably opening more spots soon according to recent approvals. Could be a good option for people who can't get the port they want, too, try CBPA.

      @Page

There is no "CBPA". If you're talking of Agriculture, it's CBPAS. Border Patrol is BPA, more often shorten further to simply PA.

A person who is prior military is unbound by age restrictions, but yeah, it is very possible to get jammed up by age in the covered positions otherwise.

There are roughly 2400 CBPAS in OFO. They are employed in less than half of OFO ports. Even with the couple of hundred additional hires recently approved Congressionally CBPO will still be the more available option...and the only option in most ports.

merlin436, Sure CBPA or whatever you want to call it, looks like a good range of locations, including overseas assignments based on the following: https://www.cbp.gov/careers/frontlin...duty-locations
"Agriculture Specialist Duty Locations The Office of Field Operations staffs over 300 land, air, and sea ports of entry throughout the United States, in addition to several pre-clearance duty stations overseas." Check it out, doesn't look too bad for options, considering that "There are 328 official ports of entry in the U.S. and 13 preclearance offices in Canada and the Caribbean." Thanks so much for letting us know the stats on how many CBPAs there already are, and how many more might be hired. Yeah, it is not all that many, and I am sure everyone on this forum has an interest in doing law enforcement work - don't get me wrong the LEO positions are my first choice. I'm just trying to put out some helpful info for people like me who invested a lot of time in their degrees, and invested a lot of time in the CBP Officer process, but might not make it due to age cutoff. At least for those people they can put their education to use as an Agriculture Specialist, and they might have a good chance at the job because at least from what I have experienced not that many people know about the job.

I am aware that there are 328 ports in OFO.. Plus the various overseas locations. I can also tell you with out reservations that OFO staffs Agriculture Specialists in less than half of those locations.

If CBPAS appeals to a person, by all means, apply. Just don't get your hopes up that the numbers work to your advantage as they do with CBPO hiring. They don't...on multiple levels.

osviusmc I know the feeling I’m in 19-2 regular hire sitting at 50% awaiting to be scheduled for the polygraph exam. Many others same announcement regular and same port are flying through. I am aware there was a shutdown back in 2018 but by now you would think they would be caught up. I guess it is what it is. Good luck you probably will be scheduled before me.

DrigoCBP I thought about it many times but I aged out already I don’t want it to screw up anything after waiting over 10 months I figure by now I should be close in my mind to be scheduled soon. Last response from my case manager is that my file is with OPR and background is in progress whatever that means.
