Anyone know how the process works or how hard it is to change duty locations once you're in ? I'm trying to eventually get assigned in Ireland or Spain.

I asked the two officers at my structured interview about getting overseas assignments. It sounds like it is a mixture of availability of openings, seniority & GS grade, and then just requesting the assignment. It's probably expected that you gain experience at a POE in the U.S. before transferring to pre-clearance or an overseas office.
I'm hoping to transfer to somewhere overseas, too.

NoSlack898 and Anthropologist ..... I'm at FLETC now and everything the Supervisors keep saying about Pre-Clearance is that you have to a journeyman (GS11 and GS12) to do it. It's a position you to which you apply.
Good luck!!

If you are not granted provisional, it's forever wait for background to clear... From several months to 1 year plus... So... Buckle up again like me.... Haha I've been waiting 3 months already...Last edited by V_AntCBP; 12-13-2019, 10:33 PM.

So yesterday when I got home I checked my email, and saw an email from CBP polygraphing, and I’ve been scheduled for Jan 9th. Only catch is I have to take it in MA, and I live in Long Island, NY.
For those of you like me living in downstate NY, I spoke with the polygrapher, and she said NY is so backed up, all polygraph cases are being pushed to examiners in other states. As per CBP hiring policies, you can be scheduled to take an exam at any location that is a 5hr commute from where you live. I accepted the testing site and date, because she said if I waited for an examiner in NY it can be 6 months or more of a wait.
Ps I never received a phone call, I saw the email and then called the number listed. The examiner was so backed up with new cases she hadn’t had time to reach out to people yet (e.g. check your emails). Listed below is my current time line.

Took my Polygraph about three weeks ago and was told I failed but QC has the final say and could recommend a retest. My CASS was at 50% like everyone but today it's down to 38% and EQIP is no longer green. Is this just a system update or is someone working on my application behind the scenes?

Same thing happened to me, however, received a email yesterday morning stating I failed to meet standards and was disqualified. I personally think if CBP is going to continue administering this polygraph they should make it a requirement to do it first before actually starting all the process.

NYCFinest3201 sorry to here that you received that type of email thank you for sharing your experience with us its greatly appreciated. What announcement were you in

Hi all! I applied back in March of this year and I'm still stuck at 38%... had to send medical follow-ups documents twice and still waiting to get the green light. It's now been 4 months since I sent them! Anybody has ever been approved after 2 medical follow-ups? It's been 9 months since I applied and I'm starting to get a little demotivated by how slow the process is...

My medical took about 6months to clear and I had to send multiple documents in as they were requested. Poly came right after the medical cleared and now I'm in the field portion of the background investigation

I started the process in 12/2017. Did my medical in 02/2018. Had to send documentation for 2 different medical issues in 10/2018. My medical finally cleared on 7/2/19. So it took almost 18 months for them to clear me. Hope it doesn’t take that long for u.Last edited by AdamF2882; 12-15-2019, 11:31 PM.

This process is nothing but slow. Extremely slow for most people, if you really want this job, you will need to be patient. flo92 I'm 19 months in,had no issues whatsoever, and still waiting, looking at 2 years plus... So just submit required paperwork and wait... Use time to train for fletc... Good luck

As was previously written, lots of the US doesn't like us...either justifiably or because we get lumped into the crowd within the greater immigration debacle.
Be smart and aware is always good advice. Trouble can and will pop up anywhere at anytime in your career.

Ive been in the process for one year, waiting on the poly still. CASS is at 50%, my background has said in progress throughout the year. Today I checked and it says pending, does that mean they are reviewing me possibly for a polygraph?

Florida_Man 19-2 my background also says pending instead of in progress. I checked yesterday and it was saying in progress. I have no idea what could be. Any insight anybody?Last edited by David1984; 12-16-2019, 04:05 PM.

My background went from in progress to pending in CASS. Percentage stayed at 63%. Anyone know if it means anything? The last time, I met with the investigator was about 3 weeks ago and should have been the final time.
