My polygraph Reciprocity was approved as well from a clearance at the DOJ and I got my DT 2 days after. Then I got and EOD 3 days after. I was just sent a notification to Recertify my EQIP. My status went down to 63% from 88%. I did the Recertify and it's all lit green again and back to 88%. I just havent gotten called from my BI yet. Nor have they reached out to my contacts nor my supervisors. Although there are a bunch of DHS CBP Officials at my Command that make up our Joint Operations Command Center. So I'm not sure if all the information is being shared internally. But I'm still scheduled for EOD in February so far. Anxiously waiting for for my BI to call. IDK what's the delay about.

This questions is for current CBP Officers here. I want to create a knowledge base before the academy, specific procedures related. What are those laws, regulations, codes and others that should be my bread and butter? There is anything else that is not covered or is partially covered during the academy that will be beneficial to know for future situations at my port of entry? Knowledge wise, what do you like to see in a new Officer?

Good question. I’d like to know the same.

I'll say one thing typically underappreciated and not taught in the academy...learn your port locality. Learn the local towns and cities within a day's drive of your port. Study local maps. Learn what the nearby attractions are and where those attractions are located. Study what brings traffic through your port and why.
Once you learn what is normal in your area...you can separate that from the non-normal...and that is a bread
and butter skill needed to really succeed at this job.
Obviously, how one approaches learning the traffic will greatly depend on the nature of that traffic. Land border traffic is often much more spontaneous, more whimsical, more informal than air and sea traffic. Air traffic is much less local, less trivial. Tailor your approaches to learning to the particulars of your port.Last edited by merlin436; 11-15-2019, 07:43 AM.

SpinyNorman83 Seems like we are in similar situations. But is there ever a case where BI never contacted CBPO CANDIDATES?

Has anyone on here made the switch from BP to OFO? Did you have to redo the academy or were you able to do a shortened version? Did you have to get OC and taser again?

The Office of Training and Development wanted to streamline the movement between the LEO component of CBP. They tried to have reciprocity between equivalent training and have " mini-academies" and On-the-Job training, when needed, to facilitate movement within CBP. OfO jumped onto the bandwagon.
The BP shot OTD down and insisted on no reciprocity...so we' have zero reciprocity.
If you can graduate the BP academy the OFO academy is marginally more academic and much less physical and stressful. Plus, it's always positive to have multiple academy certifications for your resume.

Is it weird that I haven't received a packing list with just a little over a week out from EOD?

invertedPanda, I'm a day out from EOD and two weeks from the Academy. I don't think we will ever get a pack-out list.... Gone are the days of seabag inspections or whatever the sister-services call them.
I just plan on traveling as light as I can after back-to-back Reserve and then Customs EOD before the academy. Anything else needed, I'll have my vehicle brought up and will be shuttling people into town during the downtime.

@Aussie_xo
I received the welcome letter with the POC info and salary info, report dates etc. I then received the next email about registering for FLETC. I'm still waiting for the one I should have received today to do the online paperwork stuff, but that didn't come. I was also told by the hiring center they will email me a corrected salary info letter a week or two before my EOD, which hasn't come at all yet.
-
invertedPanda I got my FLETC email nothing else. I'm supposed to report Dec 5th, which was changed from my original Date. They asked if I wanted to go earlier, which I was excited about. But now I'm worried.

OKCsparrow That’s not entirely true. If you are a VRA applicant you can get it.
-
V_AntCBP I just recently requested a port switch to Tampa due to some developments in my reservist “career,” and it was approved - I EOD next month. There is another VRA applicant on the Delphi forum who has Tampa; and I spoke with their most recent new hire at Tampa who is in post-academy there currently. They are getting officers.

Hello folks. Quick question here, my poly is scheduled for the end of the month and I just remembered that the current address on my application is not accurate as I moved out of state a month ago. Would it be best to update that address with the BI assuming I pass the poly or just email MHC now? Am I correct to assume that an address update will require another EQIP recertification and set me back another few weeks (my recertifications always sat for weeks before clearing)? Thanks.

Thanks, I am 19-2 and current LEO at a county department. This will be my sixth polygraph so I am not stressing it at all. Ironically though, out of all the polygraphs I have taken throughout the years, the only one I ever received an unfavorable on was my first one, with CBP. So, we'll see how things go this time around.

Good Luck and I am glad to see you will have your redemption this time. 2nd time is a charm like the saying goes. Well I have one shot at it as I age out of this process. I hope to receive the call or email soon. Northeast region has been a long wait for the poly. We may see each other at Flect I’m also 19-2 for JFK.

update with the examiner and update again when recertifying eqip and confirming when meeting investigator... Everything just have to match, imagine examiner asks if you change your address recently, you say no, then on your eqip you say you did, and when meeting investigator you say you did, if they find discrepancy, they will nopa you, not worth a risk man.. I know someone got nopa for info not matching like thatLast edited by V_AntCBP; 11-18-2019, 07:56 AM.

19-1 regular hire
Morning everyone,
I finally got the Polygraph email!
My poly is scheduled next month and I'm feeling good and confident about it.
The longest hurdle for me was the medical but it was due to my vision. I would have been disqualified due to my uncorrected vision but I got Lasik and my medical cleared after a few months.
Just have to keep reminding myself that slow progress is still progress.

2ndGenFed Good attitude man, I am still on the poly wait and thats a good way to look at it. I know people on the job due to friends, and they love it. Its worth the wait for a rewarding career hang tight. Good luck on the poly let us know how it goes.

fonzi7979 - Hey thanks, I appreciate it. I waited one year since my SI to be scheduled for the poly. The one year wait time seems to be the norm so we'll see how long the BI takes. I'm a current federal employee so I'm hoping it won't take too long.

BowMan2006 Thanks and I agree attitude is everything. I'll keep posting the results of this journey and hopefully I can help others as much as this forum has helped me. Like you said, it'll be worth the wait.

Good afternoon and Happy Monday.
I have a small question.(for those who have taken the drug test and passed it) what is the turn around for results?

Took mine on a Tuesday cleared the following Monday. Geographic location will probably come into play, chances are you will provide your sample at one place (east coast for me) and they will ship it to the contracted lab/MRO which my paperwork said was in California.Last edited by Dodge_Guy19-4; 11-18-2019, 04:08 PM.

Carlos0933 mine took about week and a half. Im on the east coast so it has to get shipped somewhere else

Hello,
Does anyone know if the agencies share information for some of the steps? Will the Medical, BI, Poly be transferable between the agencies? I apologize if this has already been discussed. Thank you and best of luck to everyone!Last edited by shades0132; 12-07-2019, 12:19 AM.
