Hey guys, I just received a email stating this:

“We are contacting you regarding the required background investigation for the Customs And Border Protection Officer position with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).


A representative from the Credibility Assessment Division (CAD) will contact you once an examiner is available to set an examination date.“

Has anyone else received this? I sent them a email last week & got a generated response. I’m curious as to if this is a response to my email or them emailing me now basically letting me know that my process is finally moving forward....?

Still waiting on my nopa? My case manager sent an inquiry on my behalf. MHC told me I would here with in 2 days to two weeks. It's been seven weeks. So I emailed them and an inquiry has been requested on update. We will see what comes out of it. Hopefully I can get a general Idea of what is going on. I know it said this.

Took my drug test last Tuesday, received an email today that I needed to update my medical status. Had my medical back in January of 2018. Had to fill out a few sheets and send it back in. Does anyone actually get hired with the agency or do you just keep redoing everything in the hiring process until you die. Haha just kidding. One month shy of two years over here!

David1984, technically my dashboard says my background investigation is the last step. It consist of preliminary vetting checks, the polygraph examination, the investigation (the field portion and OPMs National Agency Checks) and the final adjudication. The drug test was completed on Tuesday, and polygraph at the beginning of the month. I would assume my background investigation will not take long because of the current security clearance I possess. Now its just a sit and wait until my dashboard is updated with the drug test. I currently stand at 63% completion.

I’m the same age as you bro. I qualified for gs-5 I’ve been working in customer service which qualifies for the work experience. I’ve been doing that for 2 years along with having 90/120 credits from JJC of CRJ. I applied when I had my associates and a year and half at my job. 19-6 50% JFK awaiting poly. Bidstar

Bidstar Apply at the lowest level and keep going toward finishing school. I applied for GS 7 when I had a few months of school left they allow a certain amount of months. Just apply get the process started and the worst case situation you get offered the job and have to reapply at a higher grade.

813Deputy2b I am always confused by the huge gap time wise on medical clearing mine was 2 days while others it was over 5 months. I hope it clears soon so you can get on the waiting list for poly.

BowMan2006 - We are in the same boat here! Applied 7 months ago and I'm still at 38% waiting for my medical to be cleared after 2 follow-ups... I guess we just have to hang in there! I just hope that we are not losing our place in line for the Poly....

Missed my call from OFO today at 10am due to being at work. They left a message to call them and leave a message letting them know when I could talk. Got an email saying I've passed all the things, and had till the 18th to accept their offer. Hoping they call me back tonight or tomorrow at latest since it's the 16th. BP called me yesterday again to say that when OFO gives their offer I'll have 24 hours to make the choice between the two. Most likely going OFO. Anyone know when they shut down for the night on average. Just curious what's the latest I might get called today.

Probably 4:30 or 5 CST. Typical government day. They aren't going to be calling folks in the evening I doubt. Admittedly, I went out of my way to ensure I would be available for the call - I was in Korea, TDY on military orders - so I paid for an international plan and switched my shift so that i'd be in bed during the workday back in the US, lol.

18-11- Met with BI back in mid July and told me he submitted everything for approval shortly after meeting with me. Been waiting to hear something, and was contacted by him today. He said my background got kicked back from CBP needing some additional info that was actually already answered by him. He said they(CBP) are getting so caught up on the smallest of things, he didn't understand why it was kicked back. ( It was date verification from when I attended a community college, that was verified by me today fhe second time.) said he would submit everything back over to them asap today. Not gunna lie, I am bummed that its still in the hands of my BI now... but... I'll take anything I can get and at least this means my file/application is/was on someone's que being worked on. Lol...

Royalty9290 The guy at the SI said closer to 6 months but the people here are saying closer to a year. It kind of sucks for them they might miss out on some good people. I have been getting a few good job offers, the summer Fridays off, close to 30 days off. By the time this comes around which is 9 more months for poly, background 4 to 8 months, might not even want it. Dont get me wrong I want the job and it seems exciting, just cant put my life on hold for two years.
