dominicano I emailed them probably 30 times, only got generic responses and no follow up, don't even bother.. Lol. Just wait and when it's your turn, they will call you. I waited 50 weeks for my poly.

So I did my drug test on Tuesday, I'm 19-1 JFK.
my Polygraph Reciprocity was approved last week.
I was then called a few days after and told to show up for drug Screening the next day or the day after. I'm at 63% waiting to see how long the remaining process is going to take.

Passed the PT test yesterday. My panel interview in a few days.
I have a question. I had a bankruptcy last year and it’s done and over with. Will this be an issue? The other agency I had an interview said for them it would be ok because my case was done with and discharged. Anyone have any information on this for CBP?

Well that’s good news (I think). I made an effort but once my wife lost her job and she totaled the car (we didn’t have Gap insurance) I was in a hole I couldn’t get out of.
The other agency I am also in the running for doesn’t require a security clearance so maybe that’s why the HR person told me the bankruptcy wasn’t going to be an issue.
I had a Top Secret from 2002-2011. I wonder if that’s going to help. I also held a Secret from 1998-2002.
Note to anyone reading this. Get Gap insurance for your cars. After my wife crashed the car I was still on the hook for almost $10,000 for a car I no longer owned.Last edited by pissedoff; 09-29-2019, 06:19 AM.

As long as you have proof that nobody is going after you for the debts you should be fine. You will need to explain your bankruptcy during meeting with investigator, they asked me about 3 late payments on my credit 12 years ago so they will be looking eveything, they don't like their employees with bad debts, bad financial because could more likely be taking bribery I guess ****edoff
-
Going off what V_AntCBP said, they want to make sure you can't be blackmailed or coerced over it. Sometimes you won't be *legally* required to pay back debts, although that still doesn't absolve you from them in the security clearance process. Even if you are not legally required to pay them off, they're going to ask you what you plan to do about them when you get investigated.
-
V_AntCBP I thought when we filled out the eqip it asked for 7 years and they went back 12 years? Yeesh. I had something go to collections 11 years ago(paid the 300 off) but thats crazy about late payments gez. ****edoff that really sucks, I have always leased and they require gap insurance. Really hope jts not an issue for you and you make it through, good luck.

BowMan2006 yeah man, they pulled my credit report ever seen I was 18, I had to explain the late payments (my ex did that, I was cosigner for her) , I think as long as you took care of the debt, or have explanation, you should be fine. I had a foreclosure settled in court in 2014, gave them court order that debt been taken care off, But yeah, advice, after you pass poly, run a full credit report and prepare to explain whatever funky, late, collections on that report.Last edited by V_AntCBP; 10-01-2019, 10:45 AM.

There is a job announcement for “CBP Mission Support Specialist” on USA Jobs.
If I apply to that, will it effect my CBP Officer application?
I just want to make sure I have something lined up after I separate from the Air Force.

@ all 19-2 applicants just wondering if anyone received an email or call for the polygraph exam. Any feedback is greatly appreciated . I am 5 months in since completing my SI. I also emailed ICAD but only received an automated response. Was hoping to hear that someone may have received that email.

****edoff SI is structured interview, basically the review panel you were mentioning in a prior post. fonzi7979 I know you are pumped to be a CBP officer but the people have been saying the poly is a year out. Make sure this is not your only possible career in life, if you dont make it you will be crushed man. I have other avenues I am pursuing so its not going to rock my world if I dont get it. Good luck hopefully they call us soon, I am only two months wait time in.

MattyjayG thanks for sharing it’s greatly appreciated. Congratulations getting through the polygraph exam. Good Luck to you with the rest of the process. Hopefully the waiting game is over from here out.

Hey guys, 19-6 Regular Hire for EWR or JFK, today marks exactly 25 weeks since SI.
I am planning on going on vacation in late December, how much time do people usually have between the Polygraph email and the test itself?
Thank you.

depend, usually couple weeks out, but sometimes they contact and ask if you want to come the next day because someone cancelled.. as long as you have access to email, you can ask the examiner for the date that you would be available. Turboboigti they will work with you.
-
Turboboigti for me personally it was a little more than a month but I think everyone is different. I was first initially contacted in May and got scheduled on 6/24

I am shocked the SI calls for business casual. Even the interview I had with another agency 3 weeks ago said to wear business casual. I was the only one (there was 5 of us there for interviews) wearing a suit and was shocked to say the least.
I always wear a nice suit and would never go to a law enforcement panel interview wearing casual business. I think it shows a lack of disrespect to the panel members. If you truly want the job I feel professional business attire should be worn. This is just my opinion. My SI for CBP is this week. I am still not sure if I will go due to the fact the other agency is starting me in 3 weeks. CBP sounds great but my 3 kids were getting ready to kill me when I said we would have to move if I got the CBP job. This other agency is local and I wouldn’t have to move.
So my question is what did some of you wear at the SI?

****edoff i wore my suit and tie to show respect and care about that interview.... and i think i was the one that they gave more points because there were 3 that wore business casual and regular t shirt and they said the interviewers are very rude and and mean. but when i went into the room (i was the 4th and last one for that day for si interview) the interviewers were totally different from the those 3 people... They were so nice and police to me. And they even spent their time explain the questions and gave me time to answer. They did not rush me through it. so i think wearing suit for SI is a must lol

standtheman When I went through they were not mean but they had to know how you think and if your line of thinking works for CBP. I think if anything you could say they were grilling you and to some I guess it could come off as rude/mean. But with police they dont beat around the bush and I respect that, they just ask you stuff out right. I think it was easier then a regular job interview, overall good experience for me.

BowMan2006. both interviewers were not grill or mean or rude. i meants those people who went infront of me saying they were mean and i was the last one went into the SI that day and both interviewers were so nice and professional.
-
what i actually meant what i saw and felt was totally different than those 3 people in front of me.
-
standtheman I know what you meant, I am agreeing with you on the nice and professional comment. Just people in a law enforcement job are more direct in the way they talk so the applicants might of seen it as rude/mean.
-
BowMan2006 i can tell they do not mean any rude/mean (is just the way they are) but some people very sensitive about what they hear lol.
