Most important thing I can recommend is to use common sense and sound confident in your response and maintain eye contact. It’s fine to be nervous, but just take a deep breath and you’ll be fine.

      @MattCBP

      https://www.cbp.gov/careers/car/cbpo-interview
"You need to demonstrate that you possess the abilities and other characteristics important to Customs and Border Protection Officer positions. Among these are the competencies of Judgment and Decision-making, Interpersonal Skills, Emotional Maturity, Cooperativeness/Sensitivity to the Needs of Others, Teamwork, Flexibility, and Oral Communication."

Include those adjectives in your responses and ensure officer safety, human safety and team work are the utmost important in your responses.

I don't know if the email that gets sent out is the same as when I took it a few years ago, but the address I was given was wrong and not accessible. My interview was on site at CVG. I had to get a gate pass from the Delta ticket counter, go through TSA checkpoint and enter the CBP area in one of the concourses. So plan accordingly if that's still the case. I was late, but they were understanding as they knew the instructions in the email weren't clear on all of this.

  • Question: Do you guys know if something that you completed and passed but hasn't been updated in the CASS will affect you for the final offer?

I have 2 applications one of them the poly was updated and in the other one not, I started both processes at simultaneously.

I have two apps going and seems they are really only updating one, doesn't appear to be relevant. or have any rhyme or reason other than they are using the app number that is updating to schedule all the appointments.

  • How long does it typically take for OPR to review your e-QIP? I’m cleared on my medical , fitness , & SI.

Recently it's been taking forever. Mine has been with hrm for almost 2 months. Not even released to opr yet. Has yours been released to opr yet? Do you have the green check mark next to eqip? If so how long it take?

  • Does anyone know if there is a per diem daily allowance? Also with the PFT 1.5 run, is it graded on the track or mapped out?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Please Excuse me as I am sure this has been a subject here in the past, but for those who successfully passed the SI, could you share some examples of the questions we should expect? I have my SI scheduled for 8/20 in Calexico, CA.

    Your help is greatly appreciated.

If you go back one page you can find some good tips for the SI, unfortunately due to an NDA no one can really give you any specifics on what to expect

Oh I got it. I was not aware of the NDA details.

      Thank you guys!

  • The app is really annoying me. still shows me at 0% on everything. took my SI on 7/16 and medical on 7/18 but still shows on the app that my dates for those would be set up via email just like i've never taken them. My fitness exam is in the morning (probably shouldn't have practiced the step test today). Anyone else have issues with the application status not keeping up with everything?

I mean this politely - if you plan on everything happening ASAP you're going to be in for a rude awakening. Seems like CASS is slow to update, I don't recall my turn around time but it was a few weeks on the medical but I feel as if my SI updated within two weeks.

corsair i know it won't be quick. After I left my job at my local SO for TSA it took half a year just to get on with that. So i know they drag their feet with red tape. Just curious if the app was having issues on updating since the TSA version of the app stays pretty up to date with what you're doing in the process.

  • My background investigation on CASS went from “in progress” to “pending”. Does this mean anything?

I'm in NJ - If we're being specific I'm currently 135 days 21 hrs since I passed my SI and 180 days 17 hrs since I applied. I also received the paper when I had my SI in Newark - sent them an email and they basically said kick rocks and wait.

  • UPDATE!
    18-3 Regular Announcement- JFK

My drug test just cleared, I'm officially at 88% on CASS and have completed all my pre-employment steps. Currently at 1 year 7 months and 26 days since my initial application day in December 7, 2017. It will most likely be a year and 8 months by the time its all said and done. Next up: TSU email and "THE CALL".

There is a light at the end of the tunnel, its just a God damn long one lol.

No, you should be fine unless you had a major operation on your knee then it will be prolonged because they will require documentation. Still might be a possibility that they ask for you to see a specialist regarding your knee if the results come back unsatisfactory then you can be disqualified. Were you able to complete pft1?

Step test is a fairly moderate work out be prepared at least 3 days in advance so that you don’t over work your knees.

    • Finally got the call! Took about 7 days after my drug test cleared.

I had talked with the recruiter in LA earlier this week (unrelated with the hiring process) about general information since LA as a Seaport and an Airport and what's the differences, pros, and cons of each. So if anyone whats that information just let me know.

    • Just took my fitness test and passed all 3 tests. Step test was the hardest part. Probably should have practiced on it more then a week but i pushed through it. Definitely practice it if you still haven't taken your fitness test yet.
