PATEL1990, if you look at the CBP website for the preparations for the polygraph it says to keep your routine the same as it always is.... So if you have coffee in the morning, then have it. I skipped my four-shot espresso flat white, just to be safe :P

I thought everyone had to do mandatory two weeks prior to FLETC? Just three days?

Edit: NVM! That may be different for BPA. Good luck!

Yes...that's a BP thing. OFO requires a much lengthier, acclimating pre-academy.

Think the only 19-3 I’ve seen was for DH

  • 18-3 here.
Does anybody know how long do they take to reply to a NOPA after you have submitted it? I didnt even know it was a NOPA because it doesnt literally say it, It looked like a regular email from DHS.

So i received a letter attached on that email saying that CBP was proposing to withdraw their tentative offer of employment because they found two items with derogatory information ( they could not verify info i had provided of a relative I have done an affidavit of support to migrate to the US and information about a traffic citation) and for me to send additional information to explain, refute or clarify. That was on May 6 and they gave me 15 calendar days, I sent everything including a filled out questionnaire/documents and an affidavit on May 15. I have not heard anything since.

  • Hello,

I apologize for the repeated posts, however; I received a call from my BI to set up an appointment to meet and talk for 70-90 minutes. He requested about 7 sources involving my background, and I'm assuming will be calling them Friday. He will be meeting 2 of these sources at my workplace Friday. What should I expect during this meeting, and is this a good step for my application? Thank you

I met with my BI 2-3 times, and he visited my then current workplace 3 times talking to coworkers and managers. Its not a bad thing by any means.

Hmm.. Usually they're considered your references rather than "sources'. Unless they're sorcerers perhaps? Anyways, moot point, but I noticed "sources" being used in several of the previous posts as well.

    • 17-10 here waiting for the BI to call. Anyone ever ran into a situation where your previous job wouldn't let the BI on the premises to talk to anyone....just asking cause my job has a strict policy about things like this and I have a feeling they might turn him away. Alot of my references are people I work with including plant managers and co-workers that worked under me since I was the supervisor. Just curious

fort1978, it’s actually pretty common especially out in the private sector. Company’s HR and legal are very strict about who they would allow to correspond with media, police, and in this case, background investigators. Your best approach is to fill out that EQIP to the best of your knowledge and let the BI follow his/her leads.
Not much you can do if your job doesn’t allow them to go on the premises.

Roninjin thanks for all the info. I kinda figured that just wanted to make sure it didnt count against me. EQIP has been filled out completely, and I even out 2 of my bosses on it with the numbers hopefully wont be too much longer. Been waiting for the BI to call me for a while now

    • I took my medical exam last week and still don’t have clearance on it via the app but I took my fitness test 2 days ago and I have clearance on it as of today. Should I be concerned? Also how long does it take for the eqip to receive clearance?

Staerr if that turns out to be the case when they email you the paper work to go see a specialist take it to an optometrist and they will give you the exam and fill out the paper for you. Of course you would have to pay out of pocket.

    • Hello future Heroes! quick question hope someone can answer who has been to the academy already. I EOD Aug 3 and start the Academy Aug 23rd while in the academy do we get the holidays off? I will be at Fletc for Thanksgiving and Christmas will we be allowed to fly back to our hometowns or do we train on the days of the holidays? Also!! is it true that we do 6 day a week training days now?

You will have holidays off. Christmas is on a Wednesday this year. Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday. Good luck to the guy figuring out air travel from/to FLETC in a 24 hour period...because, especially for Christmas, it is highly unlikely that either holiday will end up abutting a weekend. But...yeah, if you can figure out a way to fly out and be back before classes start the next day...it is technically possible to fly somewhere for holidays.

Long ago, they used to have a Mon. through Sat. 6-day academy. As far as I know, the current academy is a 5 day academy. But, as long as the agency is willing to pay overtime for the extra day...there is no real reason there cannot be a 6 day academy again.

When you get to you’re port for eod you’re training officer can print off your training schedule for the whole academy and it will tell you the days you will have off. Just know that you can only miss 27 hours..making up hours is very hard to make up. Plus it puts you very behind. You get a lot of info everyday and just missing 1 day will put you behind very far. So my suggestion is to have you’re family go to u.

polygraphs for CBP seem to have lightened up a bit.... I dont hear about the 12 hour horror stories anymore it seems like, since CBP is in desperate need of officers and the incredibly high turnover rate.

    • Just checked my CASS and it’s now at 75%. My drug test was a week after my poly. A day after the drug test they emailed me saying my medical was expired. I went and did my medical Tuesday and it is now cleared. Really hoping to get that call soon. Drug test was done before I even heard from the Background Investigator. I did choose provisional bc I already have a secret clearance as a Federal LEO.
