What phone number can I call to inquire about a polygraph date ? I know they call or email to schedule it, but I would like to reach out with hopes of speeding the process up.

If given the option...would you choose a sea port, land crossing or airport to work at and why?
Comment
-
Hal29 yea I enjoy the cold but I’ve heard the cold in Vermont and Maine is a new level of frigid. I went to Alaska in November and -20 sucks! Hopefully those guys get some good cold weather gear.
If my family was there, reapplying would be worth it. I know you’ve been in the process for a while now though so I can understand your reasoning 100%.
-
Airports tend to be better organized, less dirty, have more amenities and be more predictable. Land borders tend to be more chaotic, more variations of work, possibly less well funded and more remote and rural. With seaports it really depends of whether they process cargo or passengers.
-
Airport sounds like it would be a good fit. Unfortunately I don't think Swb offers airports and dfw will be out of the question as it is not part of the Swb. Sucks seeing I'm only 30 minutes out and they probably won't let me negotiate that as I'm dh.

Been with the Bureau of Prisons 3 years. Orginally 18-6 DH 5-7. BI and drug test remaining. Reapplied 19-2 location negotiable. Just got my referred. How long before everything transfer over?

Yes, Moby, your process is moving really fast! Look at God! Where are you guys from? I'm from Miami. I originally applied for 19-1. I have completed my eqip, SI and medical

One, the "100 mile" rule is a BP thing.
Two, it's a hiring rule. It forces new BP hires into stations that are at least 100 miles from the applicant's place of residence listed in their initial job application. It has nothing to do with where a person lives after being hired.
-
No. The 100-mile rule is the address of your original residence. It has nothing to do with where you live once you get the job.
-
Hal29 micdrop451 Nogales for CBPO & Ajo or Nogales for BP. I'm in Phoenix so both are over 100 miles but from my understanding the 100 mile rule is only for BP. I also thought about Lukeville but I heard it's desolate as hell out there so I'll stick with Nogales & hopefully move to Tucson or Sierra Vista.Last edited by DP23; 11-17-2018, 02:54 AM.

Question? I was looking at different ports. I seen that the world trade port of entry in Laredo is not a 24 hour port. It runs from 8am-midnight. Is that a port you can select or is that a location that they have to appoint you to. I did not realize that there is more than 1 port in laredo.
Comment
-
I think it’s something that is given to you by your port, they may be rotating bridges. Laredo has 3 bridges, 1 airport and I believe a train station area as well. And even if it closes at midnight, I believe there are always officers there, I report to Laredo on the 27th and I can let you know whatever I learn about the area.

Hello everyone, I just recently applied under the VRA announcement for both the GS-7 and GS-9.I am currently a permanent Federal Employee GS-11 but I have always wanted to do CBP.
I had to take the entrance exam 11/12/2018. (which was difficult)
How long does it take to receive results from exam ?
Anyone willing to share how the worklife/schedules are for the Dulles location ?
CBPO VRA 19-2- Took entrance Exam Already
CBPO VRA GS-9 19-2- Awaiting to see if I even qualify.

I currently have passed everything in CASS bc I transferred everything from another application. Today I failed my structured interview(one that I have passed before with BPA) . Extemely upset but hoping to appeal it if I can? Anyone ever try to do that
Comment

Gs5183 No way to appeal. You have another chance in 6 months compare to a failed poly in which you have to wait 2 years.
-
On my application manager, it says that I'm Frontline hiring 18-8, but in my email it says 18-1. Just realized this and was wondering if this discrepency may cause problems? Also is there a difference between frontline hiring and direct hiring? Currently sitting in process at 50% CASS, don't have a timeline, but approximately 6 months now. Still missing poly, drug, bi, and fitness exam 2. (Also what is in the 2nd fitness exam?
PSA: For all those who have their eQip rejected for what you feel is a dumb reason, go ahead and call the number, escalate to a claim to have a specialist look at it and approve it right away. (They have the same power as your investigator to push your eQip to the OPR). My eQip which took 4 months due to constant issues and changes on the investigators end, was completed within 3-4 days after I called.

I was in this boat as you’re describing. Mines got kicked back multiple times. I had a convo with my case manager asking if the eqip was being checked entirely. I was told yes until it got kicked back for section 10 twice. After seeing this kickback for section 10 twice I was really annoyed, I called my eqip manager but was unable to have a verbal convo as usual but later found out that day that, that person was fired. My eqip finally got pushed through by my friend’s case manager who was also going through the process with me. My eqip initially started sometime in November of 2016 and got sent off to OPR either April or May of 2017.

Hey Everyone!
I just wanted to ask if anyone who is currently in FLETC that has done their pre-academy at Dulles, VA can tell whether through the forum or privately, whether the schedule was M-F and from what time to what time? or if variable? Was it more orientation paperwork or other items as well? I have my EOD for 2/12 then FLETC 2/28... I have some classes for my post-grad that I'm taking now that is suppose to end by the week of 2/23, typically done online, but one of classes is hybrid. So I have to go to some classes back in DE and commute from VA to finish (2.5 hours or so) to attend in the evening time like 5-6 pm.
I've already sent out an email to TSU about what the hours would be if they knew just to see what I can do since I really really don't want to push my EOD-FLETC date to a later time. Unless somehow I could go like EOD 2/28 then two weeks later to FLETC but still maintain Dulles, VA as my port but I didn't really bring that option up since I prefer not to switch my date. So I'm hoping someone at this port has gone through the EOD and can speak on it or if any has asked and knows the answer that would be fantastic! I'm trying to finish this degree when I'm done with FLETC since it would put me at one semester to complete!
Appreciate it!

So from what I can tell the base starting pay for G5 is like 30,000. I’m willing to start with whatever but how is someone supposed to move out to there post expecialy in the Northeast on that pay?
Comment
-
You have to visit the OPM website
https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-over...eral-schedule/
and view the pay info for your area.
-
From what i read, steps are pay raises as well.. because we get a promotion every year until we reach GS12 , you wont see a change in step until then. Steps 1-3 takes one year each.. so for example. I'm going in as GS7, so in 3 years time ill be a GS12 then another 3 years ill be a GS 12 step 3.
Steps 4-6 is 2 years between each step.. so at 12 years in i should be a GS12 step 6
-
So I take it that it still takes about a year to fully go through this process. Do you think it would be bad to take a part time job in the mean time?

Ewwww the clock 19...lol. not a glock fan. I would carry if i had too. Prefer sig or smith. To bad they could issue the hk usp. But as long as it is reliable and accurate I'm good. Or comfortable. Main reason I'm not a fan of glocks. I would take a Walther p99 as well.Last edited by Hal29; 11-14-2018, 10:20 PM.

Hmmm....never had a Smith jam on me and it's all I own. Never had a glock jam either but don't like the way they feel. Never had problems loading either. I guess it is all personal preference. If I carried any glock it would be the 19 gen3. Not a fan of gen4.
-
Right, its personal preference. There shouldn't be any argument which one is better..lol Hal29, Glock has gen5 now, never try it though, I own couple gen4 models, probably I bought a cheap SW, the MP Shield 9mm, its small and good for concealment but its a btch to load the mags, after 4-5 bullets in the mag , couldn't load anymore, had to buy a loader, and also kept jamming, I would not depend my life on this gun. goknights I'm thinking about getting a XDS 9mm, shot them before at the range and liked it,
-
i wish they had the sig 226 SRT, sweetest gun i ever carried. I carry everyday with my LTC however when i was in the Army I was able to carry the Sig on duty as an MP. I prefer a full size concealed or non concealed.
-
The sig 226 is an awesome piece along with the 229s. I wouldn't mind getting issued one of them but if we're going down memory lane, I say give me a colt 1911 and I'd be a happy man.
