  • I applied oct 16th for one of the airport postings under the GS9 and the process is moving very quickly. I have medical this week, structured Interview the following and now PFT Nov 19th. However im still recovering from an off duty injury too the knee and foot and worried since i haven't been able to do much cardio i may fail one or two parts of test. Does anyone know if you are able to retake the test if you do not pass?

@JDF516 their site has old info. I know what you are talking about now. You only need to do 20 SU in 1 min, 12 PU in 1 min, and 5 mins step on 12" bench. You do not need to over do them, save energy for the next one, because its back to back, non rest.... The 5 mins step was the hardest for me... Lot of cardio there. I almost fail.

I am a little annoyed because it appears they didn’t accept my reciprocity form for the PFT. I have no problem doing the PFT, just that I need to take time off work now. Oh well, I’ll get over it.
      Anyone had this same problem?

TonyJones. Thank God now I'm a lot less nervous. I know i can easily clear 12 push ups and 20 situps, im gonna focus on the step test which has me a tad nervous still. I remember doing it a few back in the police academy during our initial fitness week right after the 1.5 and didnt have much issues and i was a tad out of shape at the point.

JFD516 You should do fine, If you could do 1.5 and than stepping, you are way more fit than me. Practice on stepping bro... I was very out of shape, couldn't do 5 PU or any SU, run for 2 mins and out of breath, shame on me... lol... Took me 1 month doing heavy training like running, weight lifting, stepping tool, pushups, situps almost every day of a week man..Took advil when I was in muscular pain.... I couldn't believe I passed the fitness. Almost failed the stepping test though. I've been training ever seen, a lot less though, 3 times per week, but I've lost 15lbs, feel a lot better and fit now. Thats the only positive of this process so far... Lmao...

  • Hi everyone, first time poster here but I've been tracking this forum for a while. I applied to CBPO under 18-13 and went into the process knowing full well that it could take a year+ to get through everything. Except, it seems to be moving freakishly fast and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I'm not sure if the fact that I live in Arizona is part of the reason, or because I'm a female, but here's what has happened so far:

    Applied- 9/28
    Exam- 10/12
    NOR- 10/24 (Passed; Score: 94)
    Tentative Selection Letter- 10/26
    Medical- 11/9
    PFFT- 11/19
    SI- 11/20

I am not complaining, I'm super excited. Just a little weirded out based on what I have seen with other people's posts.

blackraiin idk, I am a female and I’m under the 18-2 announcement with everything completed and just waiting for my background to clear and drug test. This month marks 1 year in the hiring process, and I also selected the provisional clear. I do ageee with everyone else, that I knocked the medical, PT test, and SI a really quickly and then it really slowed down.

The first half always goes super fast and like everyone says, it slows down after the SI. If you don’t have any medical hold up and pass the SI , you could get scheduled for the poly quickly. I went through the process in 5 months, with no hold-up in the medical portion. I did sign provisional & my background is still being reviewed but I have my EOD date and FLETC dates.

MN.AZ That's normal, I'm in AZ as well & received my SI email just a month & a half after applying but that's where everything just stopped lol. It's been 3 months since passing the SI while waiting on the poly. Best of luck.

  • Good afternoon everyone! Hope everybody’s having good luck with their processes recently! Tomorrow marks 4 months since my SI, still no word on the poly yet. Although it’s only been 2 weeks since my medical officially cleared so hopefully I’m getting closer!

In other news, it was posted on another forum that apparently the sit and reach portion of the fitness test at FLETC has been eliminated. For whoever that effects.

    • Hello there. Anyone know exactly what they are reviewing exactly on the medical portion? I remember talking to the doctor doing the exam and she said everything was perfect. And this was done on 9/26. Like many, it was going really fast up to this point.

JB411 I was in the same boat, my exam went perfectly and the Doctor said I should ‘easily pass.’ 6+ months later I finally just got my med clearance lol. Basically on the medical history forms you fill out, if you answer “yes” to any of the questions, you get flagged for review. It’ll usually take 2-4 months for the initial review, then they’ll send you a request for “additional information” which is usually you going to a specialist on your own time/expense and having them fill out some forms for CBP basically vouching that you’re OK. After that, you mail everything in, and you’re placed into the review line again. After another 2-4 months, they’ll either finally clear you, request even more documentation, or DQ you.

    • Good afternoon everyone. I have followed this forum for quite some time now. Finally signed up since I have now joined the ultimate game of patience after applying for CBPO. I applied under 18-12 CBPO VRA, so dropping my process so everyone can weigh in on mine also...and see if anyone else that is 18-12 and how far along they are. Glad to join the rest of you guys and gals. Just like everyone else has said and posted, seemed like was steamrolling, but then the brakes were slammed...lol. Currently showing 38%. Good luck to everyone and look forward to seeing everyone's good news posted.

Awesome JB. After reading a lot of the posts and comments about medical, I decided to push my luck (more like wishful thinking) to check on my medical. So I sent an email stating i had not seen any change in a couple of weeks and wanted to make sure my medical files were received. This is what I got, "Your pre-employment medical examination arrived in our office and has not yet been reviewed. If, after review, additional information is recommended, you will be contacted by email". Cant say i didnt try...2 months it is...lol

So I went for strike 3 asking about a question about something I saw about the review. Let you know how mad they get after.

    • I got a call today and they scheduled my drug test for tomorrow! I can't begin to express how happy I am.

Hopefully, the call isn't too much further away!

Congrats. Wish I could say the same. If I don't hear in a couple weeks I may have to move on. I can't get an answer or response from anyone. I'm creeping towards 15 months.

    • So right now as many of you are I am just waiting for an Enail to schedule my Poly. My question is once you get the email how many dates do you average have to choose from and how far out is it?

It may depend on your examiner and his/her dates available. I was contacted originally from someone in Arizona on June 23rd and gave me 6 dates in July ( from the 23rd-31st) and the first three days in August to pick from . I responded with a date in August but I also asked about testing In Dallas due to location and travel, and somsje forwarded my information to them and when they contacted me July 2nd, he gave me 3 days to pick from July 18th-20th and no other options.

MrAce my advice for you is to grab the first date that works for you and reply immediately that you want that date. The days fill up FAST and if you miss out, you'll have to wait 2-3 weeks for the next batch.

I was only offered one day, and I just made it work.

    • Adding to the previous poster’s question, has anyone ever been offered a polygraph date at a location OTHER than the “preferred” location you originally put in your application?

I ask because when I applied 9 months ago, the closest location on the list was still at 8+ hour drive for me. I’ve heard that apparently since then though, they’ve started giving polys in a city MUCH closer to where I’m about (about a 3 hour drive). I’m hoping they would just schedule me for the new, closer location. Anyone have experience with this?

Yeah I picked either Savanah GA which is about an hour and a half from me or Tampa FL (because my parents live down that way) and I was sent to Orlando. Wasn’t too much of a trip but it wasn’t either of the two I had originally selected.

The closest Poly location for me was four states over. I had to fly through 2 airports to get to my poly. It was a little frustrating. When they called to schedule mine they gave me multiple options. I was not stuck to the one location I picked upon initial application.

I believe PFT is good thru the entire process, I think medical is good for a year but then you just need to sign some forms stating nothing has changed and you’re re-certified.

Dont quote me, I'm sure someone may be more knowledgable than I am, I was under the impression it was good for 2 or 3 years.

I have taken the PFT1 twice being over 2 years in ... I was told by MHC that it expires after a year.

Medical = I have no idea BUT I’ve read that if when the time comes, you get to self certify that nothing bad/wrong has happened to the applicant since the initial medical review.

SI = no idea plus I’ve never read about anyone taking that twice after a successful interview.

Polygraph = This, I think is good for 2 years.

Hal29, waiting to get B.I. portion cleared. Reached out to a recruiter almost 3 weeks ago to do an inquiry to OPR regarding my BI to see what’s the possible hold up and the recruiter hasn’t done anything. This Friday makes 3 weeks since I made contact. Spoke to the recruiter twice as I don’t want to constantly call as I’m expecting that they have other work to do but on my last phone call I was told nothing had been done. I would think that if MHC just gives me a generic answer that maybe this person could do more but so far no further help or insight where I thought I’d possibly get it.

With VRA they will actually call the port and request it. Unlike DH and Regular announcement they will only offer the locations they will give you over the call.

      • My understanding VRA you can negotiate where you want to be posted at. Of course they offer what is needed first I believe, but again should have the option to negotiate. Hope that helps.
