  • For those of you who have reapplied midway through the process, how does it overall work on your end. I'm at 50% on cass and re applied. I was told since I took the exam after a certain date no further action on my end is needed and everything transfers and I will continue as usual.

Plus I don't want to have to take the exam over again.

How long does it take to transfer over? I've already been in this for 14 months. I would rather not extend it even longer than it needs to be. But sure would like to get dfw.

Hal29 I took the exam again on Oct 12th, and within two weeks I got the NOR and TSL.

and If I was a single man with no family, then I probably would've chosen one of the locations offered.

  • Background is officially cleared on the CASS app!

So excited! I’ll let everyone know when they schedule me for the drug test. Enjoy your Sunday

blackraiin If you hold an active TS from DoD that should have been waivable for CBP's clearance. Considering that they did the full scope of the SSBI now known as the Tier-5. You should've been cleared a lot faster than someone like I who only holds a secret clearance.

Yes I hold an active TS from/with the DoD but apparently if one does not have the "SCI" caveat with that TS/SCI then one does not get an approval for that polygraph waiver. Now mind you that a person with that SCI caveat in the military holds a function on a military installation such as the actual POC for INFOSEC "or" working in a base's INTEL office (Is CBP wanting that pick of the litter?) And yes every company and/or agency wants the best candidates working for them. So in my opinion even if one is a veteran applying for this position, don't think about an overall expedited process for the masses of vets applying as it won't happen. Now don't get me wrong as a few vets WILL get the job in a shortened time frame as opposed to the greater amount of vets that are applying. I did apply for the waiver but was denied because I didn't posses that SCI caveat so here I am 26+ months later. micdrop451

blackraiin Ah, gotcha. I'm tracking. The reason I said that was I thought you were MI in the Army as any 35series falls under the TS/SCI umbrella. Hence the reciprocity for BP. I think it's BS as personally I feel if you hold a TS in the military and a NAC, ESI, NAC on cohabitants/family and interviews have been done according to standards, that should have a lot of bearing when trying to lateral into the feds regardless of if the "SCI" caveat is given. That's of course if the Tier-5 has been done within the last 5 years and is active. And I get what you're coming from about some vets, but those that hold a TS and in a field of lets say for example a 35F in the Army, should obviously have his application expedited for the sole reason that he's looking at classified material that will be on the same level or probably even higher than what he will see at CBP. And I'm sure they do as I see some VRA's speed through this process due to their active clearances. I know the rules were changed in the past year or so due to this Administration's demand for more Agents/Officers.

  • 18-6....I am currently working for the Bureau of Prisons. I already have done a public trust background with them. My status as of now is 63%. Waiting BI and drug test. I applied for a Direct Hire spot but it says negotiable when selected. I am hoping for Atlanta or Dulles VA. Wondering since these was not offered at the time if I have a chance those?

klocklear86, there is a very slim chance you will get Atl or Dulles, you can try and ask them during "the call", but most likely you won't get it. If you don't want to go to sw borders and only like those airports, I suggest you re apply to regular announcement, everything will transfer over to your new announcement, you are a 18-6 so you would have to retake entrance exam though. But I think reapply now is better than waiting for the call, turn it down and reapply then. At least the wait for new announcement starts now...
Like N.N. said, lof of people were misled by "location negotiable", thinking that they can negotiate any location they want, yes, any location along sw borders. Good luck

klocklear86 Everyone is correct. Best believe if you are a direct hire there is NO slim chance. Your chances are 0% that you can get anything other than the southwest ports.

I was DH18-7 and when i got the call was when i found out its only negotiable along the south western ports. So i turned it down and reapplied. But as everyone is saying, if you want something outside of the DH then you might as well reapply now and get the exam out the way.

Just apply to Regular announcement take the entrance exam and all your progress will be transferred to the Regular announcement within a month or so. You still have time if you still haven't met your BI. This way you will get all the locations that are available.

Think twice before accepting the offer to SWB because it would be very difficult to transfer from there to somewhere else which will be more desirable if you won't be happy there.

d2ep can you tell me a little more? Is this what you selected when you first applied, which port did they put you at? From what I’ve heard, it’s a really competitive and desired port, I’m hoping to stay close to home.

I didn't select Detroit as for I never wanted it. I selected Dulles, VA and I got it. It all depends on your application which announcement you applied to. DH then only SWB, Regular then all the port that is available at the time of your call including SWB.

    • I applied oct 16th for one of the airport postings under the GS9 and the process is moving very quickly. I have medical this week, structured Interview the following and now PFT Nov 19th. However im still recovering from an off duty injury too the knee and foot and worried since i haven't been able to do much cardio i may fail one or two parts of test. Does anyone know if you are able to retake the test if you do not pass?

@JDF516 their site has old info. I know what you are talking about now. You only need to do 20 SU in 1 min, 12 PU in 1 min, and 5 mins step on 12" bench. You do not need to over do them, save energy for the next one, because its back to back, non rest.... The 5 mins step was the hardest for me... Lot of cardio there. I almost fail.

TonyJones. Thank God now I'm a lot less nervous. I know i can easily clear 12 push ups and 20 situps, im gonna focus on the step test which has me a tad nervous still. I remember doing it a few back in the police academy during our initial fitness week right after the 1.5 and didnt have much issues and i was a tad out of shape at the point.

JFD516 You should do fine, If you could do 1.5 and than stepping, you are way more fit than me. Practice on stepping bro... I was very out of shape, couldn't do 5 PU or any SU, run for 2 mins and out of breath, shame on me... lol... Took me 1 month doing heavy training like running, weight lifting, stepping tool, pushups, situps almost every day of a week man..Took advil when I was in muscular pain.... I couldn't believe I passed the fitness. Almost failed the stepping test though. I've been training ever seen, a lot less though, 3 times per week, but I've lost 15lbs, feel a lot better and fit now. Thats the only positive of this process so far... Lmao...

    • Hi everyone, first time poster here but I've been tracking this forum for a while. I applied to CBPO under 18-13 and went into the process knowing full well that it could take a year+ to get through everything. Except, it seems to be moving freakishly fast and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I'm not sure if the fact that I live in Arizona is part of the reason, or because I'm a female, but here's what has happened so far:

      Applied- 9/28
      Exam- 10/12
      NOR- 10/24 (Passed; Score: 94)
      Tentative Selection Letter- 10/26
      Medical- 11/9
      PFFT- 11/19
      SI- 11/20

I am not complaining, I'm super excited. Just a little weirded out based on what I have seen with other people's posts.

blackraiin idk, I am a female and I’m under the 18-2 announcement with everything completed and just waiting for my background to clear and drug test. This month marks 1 year in the hiring process, and I also selected the provisional clear. I do ageee with everyone else, that I knocked the medical, PT test, and SI a really quickly and then it really slowed down.

The first half always goes super fast and like everyone says, it slows down after the SI. If you don’t have any medical hold up and pass the SI , you could get scheduled for the poly quickly. I went through the process in 5 months, with no hold-up in the medical portion. I did sign provisional & my background is still being reviewed but I have my EOD date and FLETC dates.

    • Good afternoon everyone! Hope everybody’s having good luck with their processes recently! Tomorrow marks 4 months since my SI, still no word on the poly yet. Although it’s only been 2 weeks since my medical officially cleared so hopefully I’m getting closer!

In other news, it was posted on another forum that apparently the sit and reach portion of the fitness test at FLETC has been eliminated. For whoever that effects.

JB411 I was in the same boat, my exam went perfectly and the Doctor said I should ‘easily pass.’ 6+ months later I finally just got my med clearance lol. Basically on the medical history forms you fill out, if you answer “yes” to any of the questions, you get flagged for review. It’ll usually take 2-4 months for the initial review, then they’ll send you a request for “additional information” which is usually you going to a specialist on your own time/expense and having them fill out some forms for CBP basically vouching that you’re OK. After that, you mail everything in, and you’re placed into the review line again. After another 2-4 months, they’ll either finally clear you, request even more documentation, or DQ you.

Awesome JB. After reading a lot of the posts and comments about medical, I decided to push my luck (more like wishful thinking) to check on my medical. So I sent an email stating i had not seen any change in a couple of weeks and wanted to make sure my medical files were received. This is what I got, "Your pre-employment medical examination arrived in our office and has not yet been reviewed. If, after review, additional information is recommended, you will be contacted by email". Cant say i didnt try...2 months it is...lol

It may depend on your examiner and his/her dates available. I was contacted originally from someone in Arizona on June 23rd and gave me 6 dates in July ( from the 23rd-31st) and the first three days in August to pick from . I responded with a date in August but I also asked about testing In Dallas due to location and travel, and somsje forwarded my information to them and when they contacted me July 2nd, he gave me 3 days to pick from July 18th-20th and no other options.

MrAce my advice for you is to grab the first date that works for you and reply immediately that you want that date. The days fill up FAST and if you miss out, you'll have to wait 2-3 weeks for the next batch.

      • Adding to the previous poster’s question, has anyone ever been offered a polygraph date at a location OTHER than the “preferred” location you originally put in your application?

I ask because when I applied 9 months ago, the closest location on the list was still at 8+ hour drive for me. I’ve heard that apparently since then though, they’ve started giving polys in a city MUCH closer to where I’m about (about a 3 hour drive). I’m hoping they would just schedule me for the new, closer location. Anyone have experience with this?
