  • Sadly I resigned from CBP on August 15th due to personal reasons whilst at FLETC. A few hours later on the same day I realized I made a huge mistake and withdrew my resignation. However they would not reinstate me and escorted me off of FLETC. I'm trying to get back but its not happening. Looks like I will have to reapply and go through the whole process again. In small print it reads you have until midnight until a resignation is final but they took no notice of that, I would have had better chance at disputing this if I had put my withdrawal in writing. I was at FLETC for 6 weeks, my class is moving on without me. The first week of FLETC was the hardest, I'm so not looking forward to redoing that, especially the first couple of days. FYI if you miss more than 3 days of FLETC, you can never rejoin your class.

I sent an email to see if they can give me more specifics. Hopefully it's something that can be resolved then reapply to another GS9. It says it shouldn't prevent me from reapplying.

That doesn’t even make sense... how can you be unsuitable, but it doesn’t prevent from re-applying?

N.N. it says address whatever the issue before reapplying so I need to find out what those issues are.

This determination does not prevent you from reapplying. CBP recommends that applicants address the factors that may have led to the unfavorable suitability determination prior to reapplying for another CBP position.

  • Damn. Well here’s some good news for the hopefuls, I applied on the DH 18-12 announcement for GL9 and so far I have Eqip,Medical, Fitness and SI all schedule before the announcement closes. Seems to be pretty fast?

  • Quick question, do we get an email or some kind of notification once our background investigation is sent for final adjudication?

Mine your timeline is almost the same. I also met my BI twice, I took the poly around the same time as you and got the result around the same time. I am also just waiting on Drug test. I am 18-4 though.

d2ep very cool, seems your moving fairly quickly through the process. Maybe we’ll hear something soon but we can wait for a good thing. I know my fitness test is going to expire soon but I don’t mind retaking it. Just hate the idea of possibly doing medical again. Hopefully it doesn’t come to that lol

I was wondering that as well. I've seen prior posts mentioning BI being sent to OPR for review. So I don't know if we get that again like we did with EQIP when it goes to final adjudication or what. My final BI meeting was July 25th and he said he turned it in July 26th. No emails or anything since.

  • Is anyone else 18-8? Curious to see where everyone is at in the application process.

solo1 I’m not sure if that’s the new norm, that’s just what they had me do. I mean I don’t have anything to worry about if I have to do it again so not a big deal. Hal29 you may not of “heard” of them doing that, but that’s what I did lol so now you’ve heard of it happening.

  • Hello all! First off, I want to send a shout-out to sadie99 ... it's so sad to hear that you had to resign, but hey, personal reasons are personal and no one can fault you for it. We can Monday Morning Quarterback your decision until the cows come home, but it doesn't take away the fact that you've got to do the entire process again. I hope to see you at FLETC when I'm ready to go (which might not be for a while). That lets me segway into my true reason for writing this.

So, this isn't exactly CBPO related, but it touches on it. About a year ago I applied for a Protection Security Officer position with a federal contractor to DHS. I had to fill out an SF-85P for the job, and after 12 long months I was notified that I got cleared. I start work next month and couldn't be happier to get out from working two jobs just to make ends meet. I think this gives me the "sign" I've been hoping for when it comes to EOD-ing provisionally, or waiting until I'm cleared. Based on lots of people's timelines I can expect to get cleared and get my EOD date ~12-13 months after my initial application date, which gives me a solid 9 months to give to this security company.

That being said, will the favorable results from my SF-85P weigh in any way on the SF-86?

Thanks for reading everyone, and if I don't get to talk to any of you, enjoy your weekend!

What clearance do you have? And I’ve seen people with top secret get turned down from Cbp so it’s all case by case Just be open like a book and follow all directions. If you want it bad enough you will get through. But don’t put ya eggs in one basket. It’s still a tiresome process, keep focus!

stanford.west It's just a public trust, so no clearance was issued. I hear you on that other note... I've read some of these stories on here and whew, it makes me nervous for the poly and the rest of the process. But I am looking forward to it!

  • Question y'all. I just had my credit pulled on august 1st. It was once pulled on December 31st and then again August 1st. Has anyone else had their credit repulled again during the bi?

Hal29 Things can change with your credit in 9 months so it makes sense theyd pull it again.

  • It seems there’s been a huge surge of people getting “The Call” this week. I’ve seen people who are being assigned FLETC dates as far out as February. Kind of wonder what that means for those of us still in the middle of the process... if the academy is already booked for the next 6 months, I kind of worry they’re going to slow everyone else way down (since there’s no rush to get people finished now with no FLETC spots open). Either that or when we finally are finished, we’re going to end up sitting in TSU for months, maybe even years, until spots open up. This process is one let down after another.

Well seeing they need to hire thousands of new officers and 50 or so per class. I don't think it will take years. I think it has to with them backed up in some of the steps.

No need to be negative. I think just getting to the TSU alone is a milestone and I would sit in TSU for months rather than sit through a long poly wait. Be happy that you’re chosen to go through this process remember not everyone that applied got the chance to be selected to compete

Same. Turned in my "reviewed" medical om June 6th, thus putting me at 11 and 1/2 weeks. You know cause medial review of hearing and sight is hard. F'real tho. That is what mine was all about. Hearing and vision. Not a surgery, a broken bone, a virus or infection. 11 weeks to review my sight and hearing.

        • Well I received an email from my BI. (Nopal) I have to explain in detail why I failed to include that I had an arrest when I was 16 for drinking under age at a party. I didn’t remember about that until now. Once I send them a letter about that they will review it and let me know if they will still accept me for employment. That’s the only thing negative they found. Sigh. Sigh

@I'm a ninja, how old are you if I may ask? CBP only goes back 10 years on the SF-86, so if you're older than 26, why volunteer that information? There's nothing wrong with telling them that you went by the book on what e-QIP asked of you.
