I guess the only good thing is that I saw the doc just before my physical and he sent me for pulmonary testing. So I already have the result and my general physician has cleared me from asthma and said he would sign off on anything I needed.

That all leads me to this: Anyone know how long it takes to get a clearance from NMC status after the paperwork is submitted?

I am with you. I was prescribed Ambien awhile ago so I could sleep better. Per the letter, I have to go see a shrink to get my head checked. Oh well, I guess they are covering their hind end.

Yeah, same here. My GEO was originally VT but I switched it to East Tx. Even though the wait has been "fun" I just had LASIK performed this Saturday and it is giving me additional time to eat away at the 3 month "post-LASIK" wait for medical clearance... I'd still rather have the T.O. though. lol

It says that I need to retake my vision test for the depth perception and return the results in no less than 35 days and I have to wait no sooner than 3 months to retake my vision test because I had PRK, so I am guessing I have to send them 2 separate test results...one for the depth perception as soon as possible and one for the vision test after 3 months are up?
I received a similar letter because of Lasik surgery. I had to request an extension because the due date on the letter was before my 3 month healing period was up. I did not have the depth perception issue, but if you are still within your 3 month healing time, it's possible that your perception may be off and you probably won't want to re-test for that until you test your vision at your 3 month check up. I would call the Medical Unit and explain your situation and have them advise you properly.

          • So, if I have completed and passed all the steps sin the background investigation (which is pending, already met with BI 3 months ago) and I am moving with my wife to DC, what would be the best way to preserve all this work ive put in and possibly try for a position in DC? I am currently in Miami and requested the port here. I would hate to lose all this time put in here, any success stories in this kind of situation? Please give details on the best way to handle this as well, thanks

Well it wont hurt to call or email them but im pretty sure you're gonna have to wait for an hiring vacancy and then reapply for a DC slot. Too bad because you never know when another vacncy will open. If you were to get offered a job it would be for Miami and if you turn it down, youre tossed out of the pool of applicants. But if you reapplied they would honor most of your pre-employment steps up until a year.

              • Well ladies and gents, as of Nov. 21st I'm in the TSU hotel. Just found out today via phone status line (CASS still hasn't updated). I know there were a few of us that had everything 'completed' on the status line but were not in TSU. I say you check the status line today to see if you've been referred as well.
                "Officer, you are kinda hot."

                "And you are kinda intoxicated."

                  • sweet...

Just wanted to give a shout out to my (hopefully) future colleagues! I'm a recent graduate of Cal State, Chico & after talking with a number of CBP officers this seems like a great career move. Things are moving quickly for me and hopefully I'll be in Georgia by early next year...thanks to everyone for all of the helpful information, especially on the VBT, a unique experience to say the least!

                    See you around!

A few months back there was a "PUSH" to fill spots in Miami, and most applicants got pushed through with "interim" BI's... with an AVG timeline of 3 to 4 months (from Test to Hire).

No, actually, the dates correlate with when my completion status showed up on CASS.

                          • 1.5 Mile Run

Hey guys, I know this has been asked before and I searched for it but I still can't find a credible source that says the 1.5 mile has changed from 16 mins and 30 seconds to 14 mins. My TO letters says its at 16 mins and 30 secs, so does that mean the time required to run 1.5 mile hasn't changed yet?

I work pre-clearance and I have heard nothing. If it was coming I think I would have heard something. Last place to get pre-clearance was Halifax,Canada 2 years ago. You have to be a GS-11 to go to a pre-clearance location.
