  • I'm really starting to believe the email and ask for updates strategy helps to expedite things. I sent an email today asking if there were any updates with my eQip. Within the hour, I received a new rejection letter (corrected one part and re-submitted immediately).

It's not a lot, but it definitely seems to make things happen.

Yeah I took the advice from another member and asked about my poly. Hopefully they’ll schedule me soon.

Who'd you try contacting? It looks like poly is the only point in the process there's not a specific email address you can use.

  • I reapplied to 18-8 asked me to do the E-Qip again and next day rejected and asked me to fix one minor thing. I fixed it same day sent it and and today its already sent to OPR. I originally applied 18-4 and still not sent to OPR. I got a new case manager and he/she is on top of it.

In my situation they needed more medical documentation but they could have called me and i could have fax the information and been done. Instead of making applicants wait months time after time

Yes, although my wait hasn’t been as long as yours (yet). I took my medical on 2/20/18 and it still has not yet cleared. I emailed the CBPmed review email asking for an update. About 3 days later I got a response telling me they got my report on 3/20/18 and t is under review. So that’s my experience.

OFO is alright. The money is usually OK to good. The work is usually more complex than actually difficult. Morale and the rest most often depend on the port, as you suspected. Scheduling is all over the place in many locations and much of what is available depends on seniority and the port.

If you're flexible and a realist OFO isn't a bad gig. If it's not to your liking, one can always move elsewhere to a different position to find what they want. One good thing about federal employment is that serial job hopping not only is prevalent, but often expected.

        • Guys, I do have a question. I really need help.
I broke two bones on my hand in 2013. Naturally, Medical needed more information.
I requested an extension to complete the 5-page form for I was having trouble lining up appointments.

          Long story short:
          • Kaiser is giving me run around. It is clear they don't want to get involved in anything that involves making a determination a person is suitable for a law enforcement position.
          • Since I'm 10% VA-disabled, I tried to reach out to the VA clinics last week once my school finals were over. The VA staff straight up told me "we don't know you -- no doctor is going to risk his/her license".

Money is no object! I understand their point of view. I really do. BUT DAMN IT!
It's an appalling state. It shouldn't take an act of Congress for a physician to perform an examination of the wrist.

          QUESTION:
          • For those of you who were on a similar boat, how did you approach your doctor, physician, kinesiologist to get such form completed? (I'll pay out of pocket without insurance!)
          • Has anyone here ever asked for a 2nd extension on the medical review? Mine is expiring on the 12th and my next appointment with the VA is on the 9th.
I am terrified to ask for a 2nd extension.

If the 10% VA Disability does not involve those 2 broken bones in your hand than the VA will now vouch for it. You can go through the VA to get a referral for someone to examine your hand but as far as the VA signing off on it saying your hand is good to go is very unlikely.

RJ_Jersey Yes, the 10% disability is service-connected and the injury occurred while on active duty. My hand/wrist was examined by the VA after I separated and they determined it was worth it of 10% rating. No other broken bones ever. (fingers crossed).

            The Navy fixed it. (surgery)
The VA examined it 3 years ago.

I had to see 3 different physicians. It was a pain scheduling everything and I had to see most of them more than once.

Outside of nonworking federal holidays, they likely won't approve leave outside of extreme circumstances...visiting family unlikely to qualify.

Nights and weekends are largely your own.
              .
Visitors are allowed with restrictions and a nighttime curfew.

          • So odd question here: I've read that apparently for most people, you receive an email from your "case manager" sometime right after your tentative selection letter.

This never happened for me though... I only found out what my applicant ID was when I logged into the app, but I don't think I've been assigned a case manager, or at least I've never heard from them. Anyone else have this experience? Would there be someone to contact to get a case manager assigned? Is it really helpful to have one?
