Can anyone give me the number of HR or some office I can call regarding my process? I feel like I've been waiting for my poly and drug test to get scheduled for ever, since September, and I haven't heard anything other than my security packet is with my investigator.

Is there any way I can call and talk to someone?

Don't think your the only one, been over a month since I passed my SI and been waiting for the poly to be scheduled like you.

Coburn Gore, ME is the base I applied to. I didn't think it would take such a long time to get hired for such a small port. Especially after I've gone through most of the steps.

Does anyone know of an average wait time between the two fitness tests? Is the poly completed before the second fitness test?

The wait time depends on so many factors that there is no average wait time. The first PFT is right at the start of your application. The Final PFT is given once they are ready to hire you which can be a year or more/less.

Also the Poly should be done pretty early. I took mine a week after my interview and started my background a week after that.

So far I have had to meet with my investigator three times now to clarify stuff on my background. BOP didn't have the investigator do this much digging, CBP is going nuts with mine.

Also can someone give me a rundown of the retirement for customs. It isn't LEO retirement right?

Also are customs covered under LEOSA and have duty carry to bring home?

It's LEO Lite... Percentages (1.7%) are the same as say an 1811 Investigator, but the source of your High-3 pay is different. The 20 year retirement is the same though.

As for LEOSA a CBPO is covered just fine.

As far as the poly being done early idk about that. Both you and myself applied o the same port in NY and I passed my SI a couple days after you and I've heard nothing so far about scheduling the poly besides the basic email we will be in touch to contact etc.
My guess is they only have so many investigators to do so many people and polygraphs for a general area which causes a delay or maybe there isn't a direct opening spot yet to fill so I could be waiting a bit, I have no idea but hopefully I can here something soon.
Also could be cause of the new year maybe a longer wait to hire people in next year no clue.

Anybody in the group that knows anything about the ports in Maine or is based in any of those ports?

I feel like because the year is coming to an end, anybody like myself that's in the final stages and has the poly and drug test left will most likely be notified or updated hopefully early next year. I could be wrong though. I'm just hoping we do.

I took my medical on 11/18 and the results still haven't updated in cas. I'm wondering if this is why I haven't been contacted for a poly yet.

Are the CBP VRA eligible applicant only announcements an expedited hiring process? I am about to apply as I fall under the VRA.

Does anyone know if I can't get a secondary physical if it DQs me?

Basically the medical sent me a packet to go to my treating doctors for my VA percentage. Here is the thing I have not been able to get an appointment scheduled and the VA keeps giving me the run around to make one.

At this point I know I won't be able to get a VA doc to fill out my paperwork for CBP and its the only thing I have left to do.

Can I just go to another urgent care and get the doc there to do that secondary?

The PFT2 is completed 30 days before your EOD.

I used to be heavy on these boards, but have been gone for years. I'm prior LE and am now a federal civilian (Non LEO). I have a few questions about applying for a CBPO position.

I'm currently a GS12 - how would it work if I was offered a position with CBP? Would I be forced to take the starting GS9? I'm assuming I would at least keep my pay, but most likely lose the GS12?

Regarding the newly passed bill which exempts applicants who meet certain criteria from having to take the polygraph. I meet 4 out of 5 of the listed criteria, and am interested in applying. Has anyone had their poly waived due to this new bill?

I applied for CBP in 2007, but decided to go military instead (still in, just no longer Active Duty), and quit the process after the VBT. Are the locations still on lock down like they were in '07? Meaning, only certain places are being filled and you're pretty much locked into the border ports?
